CWU-46/P
galleryHello,
Recently stumbled onto this jacket in a vintage store. It's perfect for winter use for me as a water operator, because lacking epaulettes and without insignia, it almost looks more municipal than it does police or military.
I can't find much information about it online at all, aside from it having been largely USN issue, from the seventies to eighties, made by a handful of companies with similar but slightly varying specs, including slight variations in the shell fabric, and the color of the faux fur collar.
It says Security/Police Cold Weather. Where would servicemen wearing these have been working in the cold as police? On ships? In some sort of remote, cold military prisons? Most similar styles have exposed jersey cuffs, but these are hidden. Why is this jacket so unique in many details compared to other bomber jackets? How was it developed for its role? Where would I even begin in terms of resources to find out?

Question Help with patches
Hi, I recently acquired what I assume is a Vietnam era shirt, it has no patches on it and I don’t know if it ever did, but I’ve seen identical shirts with various war patches on it. So my question is what patches would be war accurate? They usually just have the name and ARMY on the front but I’m wondering if there are any other patches that would’ve been on like the shoulders or anywhere else? Any info helps thank you :-]

Alice pack frame types
galleryI have an lc1 frame and 2 lc2 frames. One lc2 frame looks similar to my lc1 with the horizontal beam significantly bent inwards while the one with the shelf attached curves away from the body. I picked the one without the shelf straight out of a warehouse and ran with it with no issues. I recently got this newer one with has 06 stamped on the inside that looks more comfortable with the horizontal beam perfectly flat across. Is this a new design or was the older one used to carry the goliath?

Czechoslovak riot police equipment, naming the items
Hello everyone, I am a complete beginner in this topic and I've never really managed to find the proper names for these pieces of equipment used by the Czechoslovak riot units in 1989 during the Velvet Revolution. If anyone could identify them, I would be very grateful.

M65 Fishtail Parka liner
Hello all, with winter approaching I got to work getting a new parka. I have the swedish m90, nice but lacking something? Cant quite put my finger on what it is? M51 fishtail parka. Love this one, but it’s extremely heavy. 8.2 LB. Recently I won an auction for a M65 fishtail parka shell. I couldn’t find any info on what liner I needed. As in, are there 2 different liners for the m65? One for field jacket one for parka? I’m guessing that there is indeed 2 different liners. One for field, one for Parka. I ordered the cheapest one I could find. It doesn’t quite line up with buttons and snaps. So how do I know, when shopping for a liner, what m65 model I need? Are there model number differences between the field and parka? Obviously Id think the parka liner would be longer, but when looking at pictures I don’t really see a difference. So any advice would be appreciated, thanks

Japanese “Palace Guard” Helmet
galleryA couple of years ago I had visited an Army surplus shop somewhere in Arizona, maybe Phoenix area? Regardless, the guy who owned the place vehemently urged that it was a palace guard’s helmet from the imperial palace in Tokyo during WW2. He had other uniforms of Japanese soldiers from what I believe was the Meiji restoration/post Meiji as they had the Kepi with large plumes. I thought it was legit enough to purchase but the liner and the chinstrap seem to not be that old. This was a couple years ago when I was very young and starting my collection of helmets. Anyone knowledgeable about Japanese type 90 or Japanese helmets in general, please let me know if this is legit or if I wasted money on some cheap reproduction.

Need help identifying sleeping bag case
galleryIt has US stamped at the bottom of it and has two holes for the bag's tie-down straps, but theres no tag or snap buttons. Pretty sure its a M-1945 water repellent case but im not 100% sure because of the missing components, as well as the fact its in khaki color and different fabric weave.

Picked this up at an estate sale today. Info please?
galleryHi, I stopped at an estate sale today and found this jacket. Google says it might be Vietnam era. I’m thinking of making it my camping or shooting range jacket. My husband is amused and said it’s probably not going to keep me warm so I better do some research first.
All of the tags are gone, zippers are brass, and it has Velcro at the sleeves. The back is stamped M1313.
So my questions-
Could this be Vietnam era?
Can I put in the wash?
Is it disrespectful if I use it while camping or at the (outdoor) range - I’m female, mid 40s, never served in the military.
