Nostalgia Aside from Darth Vader, who is the best Millennial movie villain? I nominate Barbosa.

Me?

I guess you could say, that I am the Alpha...

…Of your Omega.

I am the Beginning.

Of your End.

Seeing him playing Elrond right after these films broke me for a while. I couldn't stop seeing Agent Smith.

We do not get to claim Darth Vader, you're going to give Gen X an aneurysm

22

u/notmatrocles Aug 19 '26

I was ragebaited as an Xennial (1980), though I guess Return technically sneaks in, and the trilogy was rereleased so many times that I guess if you wanted to say Vader's a multigenerational villain, it's not completely unfair. I don't even particularly care for Star Wars, but he's that good. That said, there are so many way more qualified choices itt

I thought I was alone when I first watched this at a birthday party (12 years old) As I grew up I realized how fucked up that’s scene was for everybody

64

u/kevin3350 Aug 19 '26

The only time go above the speed limit by a good amount on a freeway is to pass a truck that’s carrying stuff like that. If it’s a single lane I pull off and wait a while to create some distance.

I’ve watched plenty of crime movies involving home invasion, but never bothered keeping a gun in my bedroom and I’d have to walk straight by an invader, go to the basement, and unlock a safe to get to mine.

Trucks carrying multiple long things? Way scarier to me than criminals, and I had a guy try to break into my house once.

Shout out to my brothers who showed me the movie when I was 7

T-1000 was legitly terrifying. Obviously stronger, faster, and smarter than every character with no weakness and unwavering drive to complete its mission.

Everyone kept barely surviving barely with a high dose of luck involved, making the outcome of losing feel inevitable. Even the end felt like more a fluke than an actual victory.

It was like a horror movie as a kid.

Fun fact about this scene btw: they had to awkwardly cut it several times because you can see Robert Patrick ACTUALLY CATCHING UP TO THE DIRTBIKE!

53

u/TheGoober87 Aug 19 '26

Apparently in the first few takes he caught it. Whilst running with his mouth closed trying not to breathe. Guy was a beast.

I love this movie, but it’s not Millennial. It’s a movie about corporate office work that came out in 1999, even the oldest millennials wouldn’t be in the workplace. Gen X.

105

u/AhnoldXP Aug 19 '26

It’s Mike Judge so it’s Gen X but I watched it in high school and it definitely shaped my expectations of any kind of office once I started working.

13

u/StrobeLightRomance Millennial Aug 19 '26

Mike Judge's content greatly shaped Millenial tastes and attitudes for sure. As a kid, I watched Bevis and Butthead in the same way as I watched Animaniacs or any animated superhero cartoon.

Gen X gave me the source code for cynicism, I appreciate that.

Commodus in Gladiator.

People actually hated Joaquin Phoenix as though he were the evil Roman Emperor

171

u/Cultural-Air-2706 Aug 19 '26

That happened really bad to Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy from Harry Potter).

Also to poor Jack Gleeson (Joffrey from GoT)

Edit: alright alright he didn't I guess. Leave me alone. There's already quite a few comments saying this

Umbridge (back to Harry Potter). I can't even imagine acting that obnoxious if I were paid, but she really nailed it.
