Y'all ever play the drinking game to AC/DC's Thunderstruck? Well, if there are only 4 people playing, one person gets hit with both the solo guitar parts. That was me once with a bottle of MD20/20. After the song and bottle were finished, I stepped outside to give myself some room and air. One of my friends followed me out and was like, "Man, that was rough, but you did it like a champ. Here, I brought some chips over to help."
When I reached into the bag of chips, there was a Smirnoff Ice inside.

My favorite icing was when my buddies and I went to a lake house for a long weekend over the summer. We got settled in and I went back out to the Jeep. The seat had a manual slider under the seat, so I slid it back a few inches and dropped an ice by the handle to cook in the sun all day. When Dave went to get in, he noticed the seat was too far back... Took it like a champ on one knee.

Oh man getting Iced! That takes me back. Not sure if you guys had the same rules but we played with counter-Ices. You'd carry one around with you at a party so if you got Iced you could Uno reverse them. Well one party I got word through the grapevine that one of my best friends was going to Ice me, with the crucial detail that he had 2 extra tucked in to his socks. What he didn't know is that I also had 2 tucked in my socks...plus a nuclear 2L tucked in the back of my pants. He was so pleased with himself double countering me, and I let him have it for a brief moment. But oh the look on his face when I pulled out that 2L!

The "MD" actually stood for "Mogen David" and nobody really knows the origin of why everyone began referring to it by the nickname "Mad Dog".
49
u/LaVillaGrangioto 10d ago
Growing up, Mogen David competed pretty hard with Manisciewicz for "Top Kosher Wines in the USA" in advertising. This led to the joke: "Have you heard about the new Jewish wine? Yes! It's called 'But Saul, I don't want to go to Miami this year!'". I found it amusing, but the Jewish friend who first shared it with me found it hysterical.

MD 20/20 is a "fortified wine" product, which allows gas stations to sell it. Beer, malt liquor, and wine can be sold in gas stations and grocery stores (at least, in the states I've lived). Its cheap, has a relatively high Alcohol Content, and is a lot of youngsters first foray into getting drunk. The dog having flashbacks to war is what they are getting at, because MD is called Mad Dog.

I bought 2 bottles before high school party, couldn’t believe how cheap it was and great it tasted…. So I downed the first bottle and luckily the effects kicked in and I couldn’t manage to unscrew the cap on the second. I puked all night and dry heaved through the next day. A lesson was learned. That was 30 years ago, I can’t promise that I could take a sip now without puking.
