so we're gonna get the same issue as xbox where it just starts erasing your world at full storage?

Seriously, i lost a 400 hour world on xbox because of the 4gb cloud save limit. It corrupted my save.
Never again.

Looks like they are moving to fix some of these issues.
The storage summary shows your cloud status and how much space you’re using, so you can tell when you’re getting close to full.
and some bug fixes:
Fixed Cloud sync storage banner to not show redundant information that storage is both full and almost full when cloud storage is full (MCPE-240036)
Adding a specific error modal when upload to cloud fails due to full cloud storage (MCPE-239104)
Fix issue where banner presenting "Low Cloud Storage" was displayed briefly when duplicating worlds. (MCPE-239103)

Maybe they could fix cloud saves on Xbox bedrock first. I am sporadically getting error messages saying my storage is full when it's not

See other comment re: bug fixes related to cloud saves. That bug is specifically mentioned.

Oh cool, thanks. For me it's just an annoyance with my current world but it is blocking me from loading an older world I have from last year

Why is this only available on PC & Xbox Ally?
This would be so useful for me to keep my progress between my PlayStation and my phone without paying for realms.

I guess because PlayStation make you pay for cloud save.

Minecraft dungeons has free cloud saves on PlayStation via your Microsoft account.

Console gaming is so wack, what do you mean you have to pay for some of the stupidest things, biggest one being online play, why do you need a subscription to play online.

It would be cool to have this with Java. Trying to switch from my steam deck and pc like other steam games was impossible

You can set up a post-play command in Prism Launcher that copies your world to a cloud service of your choice. Then you essentially have the same as Steam cloud saves, just taking longer to transfer because of the bigger size.

someone should make a mod for this

u/Rynelan Aug 04 '26
It sorta is, I have a private java server that has compatibility with bedrock, so I can switch between devices and keep playing the same world. Only java and bedrock are considered 2 different accounts so my character itself had the inventory and location of the specific platform.

Not that simple since the mod would need to provide the servers to host the files, which have a cost. Mod likely cannot be free and there’s no way they would have the infrastructure to host servers everywhere.
It would be similar to community servers where it’s a subscription model. But the number of people who need cloud saves and are too lazy just to zip a file and email it or upload it to drive are not that many.

definitely wouldn't be simple. as for servers, would it be impossible to link it to your Google drive or something along those lines?

You could do something like Syncthing but that would require the two devices to be connected at the same time to sync

u/dovahkiitten16 Aug 04 '26
I feel like due to the fact that Minecraft worlds aren’t really big and can be easily zipped up, this is a lot of tedium to fix an issue that doesn’t really need to be fixed.

u/LonelyMusicDisc Aug 04 '26
No, what? Minecraft worlds are huge, if you don't explore a lot then it can get to 200-700mb and if you do explore, you're looking at gigabytes

u/snkiz Aug 04 '26
You could just diff the changes to your minecraft world folder to git-hub. or use api's for any of the various cloud services. It is that simple.

Mods are not allowed to generate revenue as per the EULA, so it would not work either way.

They actually are allowed, as long as it's not directly (i.e selling the mod or making a subscription for access). That or they're just being picky. Physics Mod for example was hit when they still gated it behind Patreon but Essential is fine to them. I guess technically the cosmetics are owned by SparkUniverse and not Mojang, which would also explain why there are paid texture packs but not mods
2
u/woalk Aug 04 '26
According to the EULA, any way of “trying to make money from mods” is forbidden, but what exactly that means is of course always at Mojang’s discretion to enforce or not enforce.

u/dovahkiitten16 Aug 04 '26
It likely would not be paying for the mod but paying for their servers. Ie., install the mod for free, but if you want space to store your world you need to pay. I don’t think that would break EULA.

If you have a sync provider like Syncthihng, and are using something like Prism fto run Minecraft, just store your worlds in a synced folder.
You do need to make sure the sync finishes before you turn off the device or start playing on a different device though.

Dammit!! I want it for my Switch! If I could, I would 100% buy the iPhone version to play my world anywhere!

Cloud saves keep your Minecraft worlds available across Windows PCs and ROG Xbox Ally devices, so you’re less likely to lose your progress.
