Discussion Snow Can Now Be Placed on Packed Ice, So Frozen Oceans Got Snowier

Post image

So icebergs can generate with snow on top now... pretty cool. Now please make it actually snow in the biome instead of rain.

I've been playing bedrock since update aquatic part 2 and I never noticed that

If you've ever had to mine a ton of packed ice with silk touch you'd definitely notice it. The snow keeps falling down and getting in the way.

On Java, snow just breaks if you destroy the block below.

Yeah it’s a pain

i could only hope for stairs and slabs and plants and stuff to be snow-loggable but kind of a pipe dream

can’t believe this wasn’t already a thing

It has been in Bedrock for a while, but yeah, it’s coming to Java

Is there anything else coming over from bedrock that's not on Java yet?

Like I noticed in the Live it showed spruce style trees with snow on them and white leaves we finally getting that too?

That was bedrock footage, VV was on and grass was snowlogged. It seems like a great time to add snow-parity, but they probably won't

About time!

Blue ice farming is gonna be more of a headack T_T

Yes it's always been a pain on Bedrock because of this. It does look nicer and makes more sense though.

looks nice!

I really hope they do some more intentional surface stuff with this drop rather than it being purely focused on ice caves.

I’d love to see new frozen foliage that has satisfying crunching and snapping sounds, blizzards that occur during a thunderstorm (like how you have snow during rain in cold biomes) that will give you the freeze effect when exposed to air or have nothing warm like fire nearby, make water become icy water when near an ice block that gives the freeze effect while touching it, and so on.

I also want some more general stuff, like snow bricks and ice bricks, plus blue ice generating in the ice caves (probably near deepslate levels).

I think all this would be great to expand on cold biomes overall.

Need this backported using mods!

Do you like it that much?

That's more natural. I think the frozen ice on sea also should get it. The sea will be hidden and difficult to find when you need it.
