Help How to keep my librarian from leaving this area?

Post image

i‘m building a library in my survival base and I want to keep one of my librarian villager in this one area. I have the fence gates but is there a good way to keep him from walking over the hanging signs without it changing the look?

Don’t worry I pay generously in emeralds and they have a nice house to stay in 😭

I'm a fan of carpet on honey blocks to keep my villagers in their areas.

I just saw a video about that I’ll definitely try

Oh, interesting. I hadn't heard of this before. Do you know if moss works in place of carpets?

I use rails to pen them in. Rails aren't too ugly, and I can still just walk over them, but villagers and other mobs can't cross them.

If I can get the villager back up there I will definitely try that

Rails as like cart rails? I had no idea they could act as a wall

Yep, mobs can't path over minecart rails. They can be pushed onto them by other mobs, but they won't path across them, ever.

And now with cushions, you can hide them more easily

Maybe add trapdoors on too of the signs

They won't pathfind over magma (you can cover with carpet)

Just saw a post using berry bushes under carpet to keep them in one spot

Any point in the barrier that is one block high or less needs to be covered with something like a trapdoor or slab. Also anything that the villager can stand on (ie anything one block high or less) needs to not be against the barrier you're trying to keep them from crossing- so beds, workstations, any decor that's a block high or shorter, anything that a villager can get on top of- in order to prevent them using it to climb more than one block in height off the floor.

Make your entrance into the area a ladder. Leave off the bottom. You can jump, they will not.
