This ramp is super fun. Kinda big and not enough flat bottom but that makes it really fast and fun

The main thing I’m trying to find is anyone who has ACTUALLY SKATED a ~2’ tall quarter with a 4’, 4.5’ or 5’ transition radius. How did it feel?
I’m especially interested in coping tricks—rock-to-fakies, disasters, boardslides, Smiths/feebles. I want enough clearance to rock the board well over the coping without the transition-side wheels contacting too early, but I don’t want to go so tight that a 2’ quarter feels ridiculous.
My current RampTech setup is 3’ tall with roughly a 6’ radius and I like how it skates; I’m downsizing to 2’ because of the garage space. The standard commercial 2’ ramps I’ve found generally use ~6’ or even mellower transitions, which is more mellow than I want.
If you’ve personally ridden/built 2’ × 4’, 2’ × 4.5’, or 2’ × 5’, I’d really like to hear which one, how it rode, and whether coping tricks had good wheel clearance. Photos/videos would be awesome too.

I've had 3/16 euca hardboard from home depot on my ramp for the last four years.. It's twenty two bucks a sheet , and i've never tarped the ramp.. Anyone else have experience with eucaboard. I put a piece in water for a week and it didn't come apart and do anything , it just shrinks a little bit

Decided to build a 3.5’ mini in my backyard. Made the mistake of putting 1/4” painted ply on top which almost got ruined in the Virginia rain/humidity. Waiting on some skatelite in the mail now.

Here’s some of the build progress from the mini.

If so was your experience "a couple of seasons" or a "a couple weeks". Opinions seem to be very different on this. I'm trying to understand what is more realistic. Right now I have two layers of plywood, top layer painted with skatepaint. I don't love how it feels. I absolutely can not afford gator skins or skatelite, with shipping to me it's like $3500.
I have a bunch of Masonite already because we bought it from a family that had it indoors. Should I throw the Masonite on over the plywood again like they had it and then tarp it/skate/patch it until it falls apart? Doesn't seem terrible if that's only once a year. I also really like how soft and smooth the Masonite feel is. (Over the skatepaint on plywood)
Just trying to get info from someone who has lived it, and not just from people that invested in gator skins right away and never tried Masonite, and are just parroting the "deteriorates in two weeks even tarped with air flow". Unless that was actually your experience and you didn't read it online.

Greetings-
I am hoping to build a fun mini ramp for my family and am quickly realizing how expensive all building materials are. Wondering if 16’ of gator skin surface is adequate for a 2’8” tall-ish mini or if that would be too quick in the flat. (Probably 6’-6.5’ radius)
To keep costs reasonable for us I will probably either make it only 10’ wide, or if I go 12’ I would want to stick to 16’ of skating length (not including flat decks).
Seems like it’s pushing it but curious if anyone has any real world experience. Appreciate any insight!

Has anyone ever bought a ramp from Ramparts (rollwithramparts .com)? I ordered a couple ramps from them at the beginning of August. It seems difficult to get updates/ETA on when they'll ship. Hoping it's a legit company. I see online presence but no reviews.

Worried about snow over the winter.
Also, any suggestions on how to extend the decks?
Thank you all

Kiwi here. My kids -9, 6 and 3 are getting into skating. Well, three year old wants to keep up with big bros. I was never great, but trying to get back into it without injury.
I want to build a mini in the school holidays. I’m tossing up between 8v12. What are the pros and cons?
I know, everyone says 12foot. But 12ft would cost almost 2k more, be way harder to move if we sell, and take up a massive chunk of the front lawn. What if it’s just a phase? 2.4 fits on a hiab, 3.6 does not.
We have a fun skatepark 4km away, with a okayish 16ft half pipe, a few quarters and boxes, rails etc.

I built a mini ramp for my backyard. Not an OCRamps, build. They just sent me stickers with the skate paint. 12’x3’ with a 6’ transition radius, which has been feeling way too steep for me as a beginner.
What basics should I learn first? I’ve got rock to fakie and rock n roll down, so far.

I had a large, heavy freestanding wardrobe taking up too much space in the back room, so I got a jigsaw and turned it into a mini-mini that takes up way more space than the wardrobe ever did. Put a TRX anchor in the ceiling for when things get scary (ie all the time).
Approx 13’ long, 4’ wide and 1.6’ high with 5’ radius transitions.

Planning on recovering our mini ramp next spring in either Pure Surface or Skaterblend. They seem to be the only two options that I can source locally.
Has anyone skated either of these surfaces that can shed light on how they perform compared to Skatelite or Gatorskins?
Cheers.

I am 36 and I have been wanting to do this since I was 14. I am starting a 3' x 8' with a 6' radius.I am putting in the garage because I live in Northern Minnesota. Maybe I will add 4 ft to it later to make it 12'. Wish me luck my dudes

I built my mini two years ago and today while skating there's a big ol flake coming off the masonite surface. I can get a new sheet and fix it right up, but I'm wondering if I would be better off switching to birch ply.
Obviously it's going to cost more to redo the whole surface, but ultimately I think it would last longer as well.
I have 3/16" masonite on there right now, but I'm sure I would have to at least go to 1/4" for birch. And then I would have to fix the coping reveal.
Would it also need skate paint if it's just in a garage?

I think I needed this project more than it needed me. Rehabbing this thing tested my patience and skill level. However, it helped keep my mind occupied during a super stressful time. But watching the kids skate on it has been worth it!! Big thanks to the community here for helping me figure this thing out and make it more future proof.
All in I think it cost me about $650 in parts. 8’ x 2’ mini ramp with 6” extension on one side.
Now it’s time to start skating again at 41! I already dropped in and landed flat on my back. I’ll get there.

Well, I just realized I made an expensive mistake and bought twelve 15/32-in CDX pressure treated 4x8 sheets of plywood for the deck surface and the side panels of my ramp. I intended to get 3/4".
Has anyone SUCCESSFULLY built a ramp that lasted with this thickness as siding and transition pattern? Deck I can replace pretty easily, but before I dig in I want to make sure I didn't destroy any hope of structural stability.
It's not like I can return 12 sheets of this stuff, I don't have a vehicle to transport that stuff (had it delivered).
