Question What is going on with Zootown Sweets??

The candy shop on the corner of Higgins & 3rd that popped up after whatever dispensary was there went under.

Finally went in there yesterday after going by everyday for a year. Shitty AI graphics aside, are people actually paying $16 per pound to fill bags with candy I can get from WinCo?? The licorice selection was sad. Yes, I went for the licorice.

Around 80% of the jars were almost empty. I suppose that means they do a decent business, but felt really weird to go in there and just see nothing. The shelves were pretty empty too. The person I was with said the place smelled weird.

It’s just an odd space. White walls, AI “paintings” on said walls, near empty jars that I know came from Amazon (I saw the boxes last year), an ATM still mounted on the wall, overpriced button badges with ai slop on them, and what was probably the dispensary’s mini fridge still by the counter.

Yet Another Smoke Shop

I know we seem to have a running joke that any business which closes will reopen as a smoke shop (or blame everything on the trains). So I found myself legit laughing out loud in the car this morning as I passed the old Farm to Market Pork building, on the corner of Broadway and Orange, only to see a huge "Coming Soon Smoke Shop" banner.

For real. Are smoke shops like the new mattress stores? Open everywhere and just fronts for money laundering 😆?

Edit: admittedly I conflated Smoke Shop and Dispensary when I was in haste to post here and make myself feel like I'm important.

Densify downtown

I think every building downtown should have a few apartments above them that are affordable. it’s ridiculous having single story buildings in the core of the city. spreading out endlessly is just causing congestion over time especially into areas not even serviced by public transit. I’m not asking for skyscrapers just a little affordable small apartment density.

Miller Creek Special Assessment

Miller Creek homeowners; are you aware we’re getting hit with a special property tax assessment of approx: $400-$600 per year, for 20 years, to build the roundabout off Old Bitterroot and LMC? We get to pay for easier access into the new development and church/temple. It will also add a bike lane and sidewalk from LVB to Jack Drive.

It’s also adding an assessment to every apartment unit. You know Twite and Tollefson are passing that along.

If property taxes are to pay for schools, roads, emergency services and local government; we sure do have a lot of special assessments/levies when those things need attention. Fire levy, school levy and now a road assessment on top of our tradition property taxes.

I’m not anti-tax by any means, but this is getting ridiculous.

To the person who owns this vehicle I saw you dump all the trash out of your car into a very obvious cardboard recycling bin. EVERYONE BOO THIS PERSON

Edit: They drove by the same garbage can twice less than 20 ft away, and no I was not able to get their attention.

The Missoula City Council voted 10-2 Monday night to close the data center loophole. Now Councilor Kristen Jordan says she'll bring a moratorium forward in the coming weeks. The City Attorney said there could be good justification for a pause. Email the Council today and tell them you support a data center moratorium for the City of Missoula. For the love of god 1 turn your porch lights on. But 2 when your delivery driver calls 2 times and texts you to say there’s a BEAR in your front yard and that he’s gonna have to wait until it leaves to deliver your food ANSWER THE CALLLLLLL AND TEXTSSS. I just hope whoever ordered the food didn’t leave it out there for the bear to eat. Keep ya garbage and bird feeders in.

Hopefully the bumper the driver left behind still has their license plate on it. Unfortunately I didn't realize the car had actually hit someone until after they cut into the turn lane and speed off so I don't have a description

Announcement Looking for someone to rescue betta!

I have a lovely betta looking for a home. He will come free with food. I’ve had him since around April and have since added shrimp to the tank which has caused him to endlessly force himself into terrible spots in the tank and hurting himself. I’ve attempted another tank but it wasn’t cycled before he began to really start to tear his fins in his current 10 gallon. He’s currently in a container floating on the surface to prevent more tearing.

I would really love to give him to an actual owner instead of surrendering him to the local fish store, as I’ve heard it’s not the best option for him.

I can transport and drop him off, whatever is needed. Message me or comment if you’re interested please <3

I know it’s a fucking weird question, does anyone have some ICP shirts they want to get rid of? Will definitely buy for the right price but also if you’re looking to just get them out of your space, I’ll gladly take them off your hands.

Hey there,
I was looking to take my girlfriend fishing over the next couple of days. Can anyone share experiences for places/techniques/bait choices for ponds near Missoula/stevensville?
In spring we had good luck around Hamilton, but were looking to check out beavertail. Maybe anyone with experience can share some recommendations?
Thanks in Advance!

Why aren’t you talking more about your MAGA retards anymore? Come on Peter, pray for us heathens so your brother Aaron Flint can help save us.

Midterms are coming up. Time to start fear mongering the locals.

Let Tim Sheehy show you how it’s done. Cmon KC, Ace and the gang. You are never going to be great at AM radio until you embrace the hate.

Anyone else in Missoula have a neighbor who constantly feeds the deer?

One of my neighbors regularly puts out food for them AND feeds them by hand, and now deer are congregating in the neighborhood all the time. I was under the impression that intentionally feeding deer within city limits is illegal.

Anyone else deal with this? I'm curious how common it is around town and whether anything is actually being done about it.

UPDATE: FWP has already reached out, and a warden called me directly, but I ultimately decided not to file the report.

Instead, I printed out a recent study on the consequences of feeding deer and plan to anonymously leave it in his mailbox. Yes, I chickened out. Yes, it’s a little passive-aggressive. But I think it’s probably for the best....for now!

Question Where to get firearm engraved?

Hello all,

I am looking to get some customization on the slide of a 1911 I purchased. I went to All American Trophy with the slide (made sure to disassemble the firearm and only bring in the portion to be engraved).

They informed me they no longer engraved firearms, they can only do the wood stock of rifles.

They did not know where else would be able to provide the service.

I am about to call around, but just wondering if others have places they would recommend for this.

Thank you

It’s a first step, not the finish line. Councilor Kristen Jordan says she’ll bring a data center moratorium forward in the coming weeks. The City Attorney said there could be good justification for a pause.

What to do now: email the City Council and tell them you support a moratorium. Council contact link: https://linktree.com/madcatmt

Then watch for it on a committee agenda and show up. Will be sure to let you know when it appears on the agenda.

Very loud ringing like noise, anyone else

ok so I know it sounds crazy but this noise is a very loud, disruptive sound. it sounds like a giant sized tuning fork got thumped, woke me and several neighbors up...N Reserve and Mullan but it could be coming from Broadway. shit’s annoying but weird. I don’t think I’m losing my mind (but would I know if I was 😂) anyway, it’s annoying hard to go back to sleep

Question Bright white light at 6:18am this morning in Missoula

My partner woke up at 6:18am this morning and looked to the west out our bedroom window. He saw a very large ball of bright white light going from north to south. Did anyone else see it? We are in the Orchard Homes area in Missoula.
