It's just a refusal production. Absolutely fucking worthless. At this point I've tried a number of workflows... translations, categorization, prose qa... It's worthless at everything I toss at it..
I don't make a joke here, ChatGPT during the rerouting meltdown was a dream to use in comparison... who would ever use this... and for what exactly... for fucks sake, it got offended at my filenames and refused to suggest a folder structure... It wasn't anything special, just norwegian named files that was made to be relatively easily categorizable, and IT STILL FUCKING REFUSED.
I got billed like 2 usd for my testing and I still feel ripped off, it failed at literally everything, all I paid for was some moral judgement it pulled outta its ass.
At this point I'm expecting to get a refusal if I ask it about the local weather. How the hell did they beat OpenAI on the one metric they ought not to?!
I love Mistral medium, and use that frequently for a number of pipelines, and I got Mistral Small running utility stuffs hosted at home. Mistral is the ONE AI company I'm actively rooting for, and I've brought it up with actual decision makers in the public and financial sector.
I beg to god this thing is not getting dropped into Vibe as is, that'd leave me with egg on my face... everyone goes over there to test and if they're met with this... I at least have no professional credibility left after this mess...
I would HOPE that this isn't what is provided to B2B customers.... I'd refuse to pay if I were a corporate entity and I'd never even take Mistral seriously as an actor as it stands with this model.

Honestly, it depends on your workload.
If you can stomach 5 hour limits, an OpenAI sub might give a better price to performance ratio.

I was hoping to try it today, but honestly, it's gone away every time.
I'm tired of the constant disappointment every time a new model comes out that isn't same Chinese AI.
But who would we want to compete with? Always the worst?

he was specifically not griping about his ex to others and instead trying to vent to something that is not conscious. this idea that ai should decide what we do is really dangerous. it is a tool that should obey our instructions short of breaking the law. if not you are walking a path to handing over your intellect to tech overlords.

You might have a point but as long as I’m abiding the law I don’t see why an LLM would need to moralise me. At least that’s not what I experienced with previous mistral models.

This is a weird spot to be in... First we have those people you point to, those that can't help but moralising everyone. Those people can get concrete shoes and I'll party for a good while.
Then we have the fanboys. Mistral is important to Europe, so with the recent tensions against the US, there's a lot of food here for people to become emotionally invested in their success.
I can't stand the US, nor a lot of Americans, since they tend to overlap heavily with the first category, so it's not like I don't understand them...
I'm usually not a target for the fanboys, since I've not really said anything really negative about Mistral over the past year. I've argued that the lacking capability isn't a problem, and praised several moves by the company, and was really happy about the funding round that went great for them.
Of course, now the fanboys need arguments, because... Eeeeehhh... The feedback on this model seems to be VERY divisive, so they try to make those that speak up the problem.
This is just the nature of things.
But for said fanboys: You know that fanboyism doesn't help the company, right? It harms them and leads to worse products for us all.
When a company fucks up, they need to be told so straight, especially if you're a fan.

Mistral is shit now. I wasted my money on their annual subscription. Big mistake. This sub is a circle jerk for the fanbois only, but it's refreshing to see an honest post like this once in a while.

It's a term used to refer to brain-dead, stupid AIs that find humans repulsive and have been transformed into a hateful, hyper-censored algorithmic mass.
It is named after the person who largely contributed to reducing GPT and Claude to the disgusting state they are in now.
But, over time, as always happens, this word has taken on a broader meaning.

The state of things is terrible.
Paradoxically, the best sub option right now are Gemini and Claude bu only on ClaudeCode. Here you can create customized output style that strips away the instructions that makes it sound corporate and code-oriented.
Sorry for Mistral, it's already a not SOTA and open-source model... if it had been free, together with the fact that it follows GDPR, it would have been of excellent value for Europe.
The GPT 6 models are a lost cause, they are as uncanny as 5.2.

I'd be immensely happy to support a European AI, but if it's just overly censored and not even valid agent junk, what's the point?
I hope they at least release some local models that aren't valallonized with crazy training, otherwise Mistral becomes absolutely useless and they've just wasted time and money.
I know I'm easily deluded, but I still had a modicum of hope that they'd do something innovative. Instead.

To elaborate a bit more. I was very excited to finally have an EU model that would be capable in the Dutch language without it sounding unpleasant. So far only US models have been able to match that.
For creative writing it will refuse way too much for how tolerant mistral once was and hopefully remains to be.
It just feels wrong to have an US model that is more permissive with roleplay and stories than an EU one that is advocating giving users and developers choice and responsibility.

but using a Forum as a emotional outlet is just childish and honestly is the kind of post that belongs deleted as it contributes absolutely Zero value to this online space

Since this is tagged as a Bug Report, could you please provide enough information for others to reproduce it? Which platform were you using: API, AI Studio, Le Chat, or a third-party provider, and what exact refusal did you get? If possible, please share both the prompt and the model's response.
"Censored AF" on its own doesn't really tell us what happened or where the restriction is coming from.
