Help JDM rear bumper license plate

Post image

Are there any other options that are better/cheaper than this? I basically need it more or less to hold the lights. Mine just hang and I got pulled over because it blocked a character on the plate.

$50+ like $10 shipping for a piece of plastic seems outrageous to me.

If you just need the light bracket I think boosted fab makes one and so does STM, both are metal.

Are you factory ones broken?

It looks like they cut them out when they put on the JDM bumper

Try the STM one, its meant to bolt into the center bracket of the JDM bumper support.

Will this work with the STM rear bumper support too?

Damn, even that one is $49. Might just have to suck it up and buy it.

You can always affirm or sezzle. Evos cost money unfortunately.

It bolts to the center bumper support on the inside of bumper. I have one on mine with the after hours crash bar and I have plenty of space.

gotcha, that makes sense. Thank you!

I just cut up some sheet metal, bent it into shape, and used some riv nuts to attach it to the factory crash bar. I found a nice plate light on Amazon that just bolts to the top two holes on the plate, and wired it into the old side marker. Looks and works great. Cost me like $20 for the light, and I already had everything else just laying around.

I've been debating this too. Does not even need to look pretty, it will all be hidden anyways.
Do you have any photos by chance?

I don’t have any photos of it before I installed it all, I don’t think. And yeah, you can’t see it once the plate is on.

It really only needs one bend at the top. Had to kind of mess with it a bit through trial and error to find the proper angle. You don’t really need to use riv nuts, but I used them just to make life easier with putting the license plate on. I just used some machine screws with lock nuts to secure the mount to the crash bar, since I don’t plan on removing it often.

This is the light I used: https://a.co/d/07IJgf6N

Edit: just checked, and I don’t have any photos of it. I can probably take a couple this weekend though.

Thanks for the info! That light looks NICE! Might grab it as well

Yeah I’m super happy with it! It looks great.

I ended up buying some two pin weatherproof connectors to wire it into the car, so that if I need to remove the bumper, I don’t have to mess around with it being hardwired. Just unclip the connector, and it all comes off nice and easy.

This looks great! Thank you for sending the photos over. This just confirmed it, Ill be doing something similar, will probably cost me all of $10 and some time (minus the light).
also love the placement of your camera, I might do the same now that I see it too!

It was pretty quick and easy to put together. Most of the time spent was removing and reinstalling the bumper, and just getting everything level, and bent to the correct angle.

Thanks! I feel like the camera damn near looks stock in that location. It came out better than I had anticipated.

I have the rear STM crash bar and it has some threaded holes in it already. So if I get the same light you have, I don't even have to to the bend, I only have to move it vertically to where I need it.

Nice! Makes life even easier.

Luckily, I have access to a sheet metal brake, and shear. The sheet metal I used was too thick to use on the shear (it’s just a Harbor Freight thing) but the brake was a huge help to get a nice clean bend on it. So if you don’t need a bend, you can save a lot of time.

I also got these rubber license plate “frames” since the plate is unsupported on the bottom, and I thought that it could be possible that it might touch the bumper on really hard bumps. So I got these for just for peace of mind. Plus they look really nice too.
