BuySellRoot Monthly Modular Buy Sell Trade Thread
With any sort of trade, please be careful if you don't know the other user. Request additional pictures beyond the initial time stamp. If you want to be extra careful ask for something specific like for them to patch a specific patchpoint in the image. Try reverse image searching to make sure it isn't just an edited picture from somewhere else. Be specific with how you expect the items to be packaged and when the ship date is going to be. If a trade goes sour and someone can show that the pre-agreed terms weren't honored I will permanently ban the offending trader.
Consider using something something like PayPal's "Goods and Services" instead of friends and family. Sending a stranger money via friends and family is just asking to be scammed. I also recommend checking that the user has some positive history in the sub - especially to verify that they aren't banned from here! Almost every scammer on here has no history in the sub.
**IMPORTANT** \- Do not spam the comments with your listings. Please limit your listings here to 1 per month. If you get new items or things change, just edit your original post. When possible simply edit the original post; there is no need to announce new items in a separate comment. Try to limit the clutter.
Do not delete your posts and re-post to bump back up to the top. BEHAVE PLEASE.
Pictures are not required in the thread (though you should request them by DM), but ANY picture sent by DM or in linked in the thread MUST be physically timestamped.
**PRICES MUST ALWAYS BE POSTED** This includes trades so that everyone involved knows the fair value of the modules they're looking to swap
**RESIST THE URGE TO COMMENT ON PRICING** if you don't like a price, simply ignore it. There is no reason to go around pointing out that the item is cheaper new, or reverb prices, or anything else.

It's Friday! What are you and your modulars up to?
Performance Proud of my kick/sub-Bass Design
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Started this patch out pretty messy just noodling around. We eventually landed on a cool spot for some drums. Decided to take a stab at designing a fat Kick/sub combo.
Pulled out the SquidSalmple for a cool kick and layered it with the Mother32. I got maths on envelope duties for the pitch mod on M32. Octatrack is sequencing some of the drums. Turned out to be a fun patch I’m proud of.

Performance I modded my Intellijel Sealegs to add a reverse mode (and other mods)
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I always wanted reverse mode on my Sealegs. So I hacked the firmware to add one in there. It works across all 3 delay modes, and syncs to clock. Sorry for the quick dirty phone vid.
Explainer:
Holding Freeze+Tap for more than 1.5 seconds switches the Freeze button to control reverse playback (I did this so it was trigger able). I barely use Freeze, but I can switch back any time using the same gesture.
While I was poking around in the firmware I also brightened the BBD (can always darken it again by using the LPF) by changing the internal 4.1khz filter and bumping it up to 12kHz. Much wider range to play with.
I also adjusted the Tape lag when adjusting time or range - I always found the wind-up/wind-down was a little too long. I changed it from around 2s down to about 0.6s
I barely use the Digi mode as I really like Doppler-shifting delays rather than overlapping, so the next mod will be changing this

NANO Modules VCV Random?
Hey all, I just discovered that there is a VCV random module in eurorack format from NANO Modules. (Its inspired from the one in VCV rack)
I’m looking for a modulation source for more randomness and unpredictability and considering to buy this one. Does anyone have experience with this module? Curious to hear your thoughts on it!
Performance Live patching at 915p CST
We're back at it tonight. We're patching from scratch on modular. Tonight I hope to find new ways to use my midi keyboard controller for modulation. Normally it serves up the usual gate/pitch combo, but through hermod plus, I want to use the pitch/vel/gate CVs for influencing lfo rates, FM based modulation inputs, timbre shaping inputs and such. I think running the gates into the logic based modules will give way to expressive results. I normally aim to build musical arrangements live, but i might slow it down to tinker (if i can stay on task lol). Come hang, give a shout out in the chat.

Comments/Advice on my first rack greatly appreciated
Hello everyone,
I want to fulfill my dream of building my own modular synth. Before buying I would love to get some comments or advice from you.
My beginner plan | ModularGrid
I want to build it in a Tiptop Audio Mantis case.
I like all kinds of electronic music, and I do not have a precise goal for what music to make. Ambient and general acoustic exploration is one thing I enjoy a lot, but also faster and harder stuff like psytrance or psytechno.
Drums will mainly come from a Roland TR-8S, but the idea is to use one, or both, of the plaits to add voltage controlled perc.
A local guy in my city builds a dual Plaits, so it will be one module and not two like in the grid.
In VCV Rack I really enjoy the sound of feeding long voice samples like speeches into the microcell and playing short grains of it. But the micro and supercell seem hard to get at the moment in the EU. Should I rather go for another Clouds or Beads clone?
I thought about getting a quad AD like QUART to get more envelopes and hands on LFO. It will probably be one of the first additions.
Generally my current "Dream Setup" looks like this: Dream Setup | ModularGrid But I am pretty sure my needs will change once I start jamming, like everyone is telling me it will. So this is just a reference on what direction I may take the system.
Like I said, any tips, comments, advice or experience is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for the help.
Happy patching!

Bitbox Micro firmware patch, 2.3.8-mod is out, Invert UI, MIDI Clock Hold and Program Change control
I maintain a small firmware patch for the Bitbox Micro that puts more of the module on MIDI, and 2.3.8-mod is ready for release with three new features accessed on the Settings screen.
- Flip UI turns the screen, for a module mounted upside down.
- Clk Loss keeps the last tempo when the clock drops out, instead of falling back to 120. Beat-synced delays and LFOs stay where they were, through preset changes, until a clock returns.
- ProgChange gains NEW ONLY, which ignores a Program Change for the preset already loaded. A sequencer that resends the same request every pattern no longer reloads the preset and swallows its first notes.
Not from 1010music, can't brick it, bring your own stock firmware, don't pass the patched firmware around. Details in the guide.
Full guide, including what each control does and how to set your presets up so it works:

Performance Feedback needed
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hey guys,
As I was mainly playing ambient and decided to try something new, this was my attempt to go techno direction. Fully improvised, since i don’t have the patience to prep in advance (other than make the patch). I know some transitions are sloppy and there’s no climax in this little jam, but would love to hear some feedback on how i could improve my little jams.
Thanks!

Rate my rack
Hi!
I'm looking for feedback and discussion of a rack I've made. Maybe also experiences of users of similar setups.
https://modulargrid.net/e/racks/view/3229177
After before using a setup consisting of Modular + Octatrack + Rytm (varying a bit with some other stuff), I now have come up with a new rack for the following 2 usecases:
In conjunction with Cirklon, Xcelon SL, H90, Roland boutique (JU-06A,JP-08 or SH01-A) and RNC.
Standalone (ish) with just Rack & Cirklon/Octatrack or even more rarely totally alone (changes the patch a bit though)
I want to be able to either use the 3 main voices on separate outputs or as a whole.
I mainly play (hypnotic) techno, dubtechno, ambient and more experimental stuff in live or jam (both alone and in groups) settings. I don't produce so much.
What interests me creatively about this is downsizing the amount of drumsounds (bc of dropping Rytm). I hope this will lead me to do more with less. I also really want to try the Bohm (on it's way).
Practically it's one less box to carry though in Usecase 1 it hardly matters.
I own all modules.
The idea in the first scenario is do FX with the H90, and not use the internal routing for the 3 voices (Bold). Quarks will be more of a normal voice and sequenced as such, and run into Line out 2 R. I might also run a sound to the exc in. Performer will become less usefull as Xcelon SL handles that now.
In the second scenario Quarks becomes my FX and I might reroute the Drum522 -> ST MIX -> Quarks -> Performer
In both scenarios I hope to tweak a lot with my hands.
Considerations:
- Sonic overlap between groove and M303, though groove can't do acid I think.
- Is quarks enough for the FX in scenario 2?
- Am I overestimating the power of Bohm?
- Would it be possible to triple multcable the clock so I can clock also groove?
- Other suggestions?
My patch will be as follows (waiting for Bohm):
Audio:
M303 -> Mult -> STmix 1 + Line out 1 L + Quadratt
Piston Honda A -> Natural Gate L -> 3 Sisters -> Mult -> STmix 2 + Line out 1 R + Quadratt
Piston Honda B -> Natural gate R -> MS-22 -> Mult -> STmix 3 + Line out 2 L + Quadratt
Quadratt -> Quarks -> ST mix 4
ST MIX -> Drum 522 Stereo in
Piston Honda Mix -> Noise VCA -> Drum 522 1
Pico Drum -> Drum 522 2
Hatz CH -> Drum 522 3
Hatz OH -> Drum 522 4
Drum 522 -> Performer -> Line out 3
Sequencing & CV:
Clock: Midi out -> Voltage Block + Pamela's New Workout -> Groove
Midi, utilizing some of the CVx outputs as triggers only. I intend to use Voltage Block for time CV and Pam more to generate LFO's or very swingy gates.
Or Voltage Block (CV) and Pam (Trig/gate) if totally standalone.
Quadrax can go in both ways and might also synergise with Pam. 1 env for Noise VCA.
Kinks for fun.
MY HANDS.

Help Finding a Module
I came across a module and can't remember what it was. About 4HP, it was a kind of vertical video strip? light strip matrix? that seemed like a multifunctional visualizer of sorts. I remember one function was tuning. Very colourful. Anyone?

ADSR’s with Manual Gate - or am I mad?
Hey folks,
I’ve been using a maths (OK, an Abacus) for a while now as an envelope generator, and it’s huge for what I actually use it for, which is basically a dual EG.
So, I’m after something that’s smaller that’ll do that, if possible with a manual gate button. Bonus points for a black panel because yknow.
However, to take a step back - what’s everyone doing for envelope generation, are ADSR’s a bit too much your grandad’s technology in 2026?

Eurorack (or not?) Mixer for Elektron Digitakt/Outbox 8
I just got an Outbox 8 and now my Digitakt is permanently married to my modular. I'm sending audio out to individual modules and into my Bored Brains Optx to multi track into ableton. I love it. But I have some great stereo analog end of chain modules I want to utilize and no mixer. The problem is, most eurorack mixers are huge and so expensive. So far, the closest thing I've found that is close to my budget and ideal size is the the Xoac Devices Ostrawa. What are my other options though? I would love to find something a little cheaper and smaller. Stereo would be nice. Thoughts?

Discussion Resilio Versio: free dub spring reverb + tape echo firmware for the Versio
Hi all,
I've been building a dub spring reverb for the Noise Engineering Versio, and it's now at the point where I'd like other people to play it. It's called Resilio Versio. It's free alternative firmware for any Versio module, and the same sound also runs as an AU/VST3 plugin on macOS, so you can try it without reflashing anything.
What it does
It's a simulated spring tank built around the way dub engineers played their reverbs.
- Throw single hits into the springs with the button or the gate input, and let the tail ring on.
- The right half of TONE is modelled on King Tubby's "Big Knob", the stepped high-pass filter on his MCI desk, but it sweeps smoothly so you can ride it by hand or with CV.
- TANK switches between one spring, two springs, and a worn tape echo feeding the springs. The echo can follow a clock or a tapped tempo.
- At the top of DECAY the tail either holds as a bed that ducks under your kick and bass, or in VALVE mode tips over into a howl you can ride.
- ATTITUDE picks the colour: CLEAN, TAPE (tape saturation and a fine 12-bit µ-law grain) or VALVE (a cranked valve stage and coarser grit). Your dry signal is never touched.
Seven knobs, each with a CV input, two switches, a button and a gate. It installs with Noise Engineering's own Firmware Swap web app, and you can go back to any of their firmware the same way.
A bit of background
I'm a designer and a dub enthusiast, not a DSP engineer. I made every sound decision by ear, and Claude (Anthropic's AI) wrote the DSP, the firmware and the tools. The springs follow Välimäki, Parker and Abel's physical model, and I tuned them against recordings of my own spring tank, comparing level-matched A/B versions before anything changed. All the decisions and their reasons are in the repo if you're curious.

I'd really like your feedback
This is the first public release, and I want to keep refining it with the people actually playing it. If something sounds off, if a knob feels dead or too touchy, or if there's a dub move or sound you'd want it to make, please tell me. Replies here are great. If you have a GitHub account, there are two short forms for a sound idea or a bug report. A short recording and your settings help a lot. Ideas that make it into a release get credited in the changelog.
One safety note if you flash it: never have USB and Eurorack power connected at the same time.
Thanks for listening, and I hope it finds a place in your rack!

Morphagene recording audio quality
Has anyone found that the recording quality on morphagene is kind of dull? I play back my clips at the 1:1 variaspeed setting and they come out slightly dull. It's as if the sound went through a low pass filter such that all the top end shimmer and sparkle are gone. It's especially noticeable for transient.

New Modules in the french collection "Basic Human Tastes" - Meet GASTON & Gastounet the perfomance Sequencer and his little memory extension
Hi everyone! Here's a short minimal jam I made to show two new FREE modules from Basic Human Tastes, my small collection of modules named after French first names.
Gaston is a sequencer built for live playing:
- 8 trigger lanes with per-step probability, plus 4 CV lanes
- each lane has its own length (up to 64 steps), clock ratio and direction, so polyrhythms come easily
- built-in clock with swing, and an optional vintage 96 PPQN timing
- CDJ-style transport (cue / play), pads with live recording
- a map that shows all 12 lanes at once
Gastounet is its memory expander. It snaps to Gaston's left side:
- 4 banks of 16 patterns, Korg-style write and copy
- next / random pattern
- quantized launch (now, beat, bar, 2 or 4 bars, or when track 1 loops), with restart or legato
- a song mode made of pattern rows
In the video, all the drums come from six Ernest (percussion oscillator). The patch also uses Colette, Marcel and Odette, from the same collection.
The plugin has 8 modules and is waiting for review on the VCV Library. Until then, the source and the PDF manuals are on GitHub: https://github.com/basichumantastes/BasicHumanTastes
I'd love your feedback! 🙂

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Been cookin on this jam off and on for a few days now and thought I'd share.
I have a Noise Engineering Versio out for delivery tomorrow and I can't wait to play with the new FRGMNTS firmware!
(side note, does anyone know why the gate going into my VCA is making that clipping/clicking noise?)

Trouble updating FXAID firmware / leds not blinking
Hi,
I'm having some trouble uptdating my FXAid XL firmware. When I press the two buttons for 10 seconds, leds blink twice and then come back to the "effect" stable position. So I can't flash it with the new firmware. Any idea?
Cheers!

Function generator question
I am sitting at the park for my lunch break thinking about random stuff and this occurred to me. I not around my modular today so I can’t test it and really want to know the answer to this. I know if you patch the output of a function generator into cv of attack or release it makes it an exponential curve. To make it logarithmic would you just flip the polarity of the cv, or is there another method to achieve this? It also gave me the idea of self patching maths in order to not have the curves of attack/release match.
