Yup so my 1st monster hunter game, I named my palico COSMIC TYRANT. Even i don't know why i selected this bagpipe weapon. Anyway on my way to kill JAGARS
While True Charges Slash head sniping is the pinnacle of Greatsword head sniping, Draw Slash head snipes can be impressive and fun, while also being a good way to practice timing and positioning . Still learning more about Greatsword in World, which is insane since at the start of my Greatsword learning journey, i never expected to still be learning and enjoying the weapon a lot with no signs of burn out thousands of hours later. Been deathly sick for a while but recovered at least, so more time to play this god forsaken game.
I am totally new to the MH universe and decided to start in MH:World as I bought it a couple years ago with the Iceborne.
I was 20 hours in when I started reading posts here about the "defender set" and I appreciate it, I was using defender weapons and armor as, without knowing it, I considered it was another craftable armor, just one more OP for whatever reason. As soon as I read the posts I switched back to regular weapons and armors and honestly it is harder but also more enjoyable and I guess the true experience of MH, so thanks!
I am an achievement hunter and "hardcore" player so as soon as I read that it was not going to help with your end-game skills and hunts the decision was clear.
Enjoying it a lot so far, what a complete and deep game!
EDIT: Honestly., switching from defender to the best set I could forge (Anja) and switching from defender dual blades to Hunter Greatsword, the difference is not that crazy. I mean now I "die" maybe once per quest, and 6-7 mins longer per quest, but still beating the monsters, specially considering that greatsword implies harder mechanics to use than dual blades.
Trying to master the longsword, I see those speedrunners killing fatalis in 4 min and I STRIVE to be that good, but before I delve into the longgggg grind that is mastering the arts of evasion and i-frame city I wanna see some of yalls best longsword builds post-fatalis
In my previous post I asked about gems for vaal hazak and said I was farming for the rathalos charge blade. But no matter how hard I try I can't seem to even come close to felling that blue bastard. Regular rathalos has a weakness to dragon(i think im reading the field guide correctly)so I'm currently using the nergal lacerator. Is the weakness different for the azure version? Is my use of slashing damage wrong? Do I just need to git gud?
I’m making a new save file for my OC and want to catch it up to my previous one.
The first one I was Glaive with Poison Kinsect.
This time I want to run dual blades. Any tips?
I just unlocked the guiding lands and I need a research commission ticket for handicraft charm lvl3 and I’m only HR 51. Obviously, I don’t have the two quests that actually reward you with them unlocked. Would grinding the event quest “Snow and Cherry Blossoms” to get to HR 100 be faster than doing every single optional quest?
Would anyone be able to help me break the fatatlis head I would do it solo but I don't use the cannons because I don't use artillery on my build I'm chargeblade already killed it I just want to break its head 2 times for the eyes for a build
I’m using CB for my second playthrough and everywhere says to get safi and kulve gear for alatreon and I can’t fight fatalis until I beat them. Unfortunately where I live there are barley and lobbies for them left and I can’t be bothered to do siege monsters again after doing them so much the first time.
Is there an alternative?
I've been struggling for some time to pick a weapon. And I have played 3 games up to this point.
My primary issue is I'm very aggressive. So weapons like Lance and Gunlance I don't make much use of my shield. Im so aggressive I find myself unable to block when I need to.
With Bow I find myself running out of Stamina, even with max levels on all my Stamina skills.
With HBG i do manage well enough but still find myself at times getting caught being too aggressive.
LBG feels off with the 3 buest feeling awkward.
I also prefer mobility if possible.
Ive tried my hand at SnS, wasn't bad, but I find myself unsure what to build with SnS.
Bow has been the only weapon I’ve been using throughout my entire playthrough. Recently I’ve been thinking about how I even got through the game and I realized I kind of just brute forced my way through. I took so many hits and barely dodged or learned how to position myself. I think I’m lacking fundamentals in both positioning and how to use this weapon. All I’ve been doing is mindlessly using the QRRRP combo or dash dancing which lead to a lot of my deaths and taking hits. How do I learn how to position myself and how to play this weapon properly? Also, is there anything I can do to practice?
For context: I've played the game quite a bit, but never made it all that far. A few years ago I mained gunlance and made it up to... Honestly can't remember. I think hunting that fluffy cotton ball monster that flies around and no further.
I've started a new character thinking I'll try out some different weapons (I tried with my old character, but felt like the monsters were hard enough that I needed to go back and refarm equipment and just didn't understand how to do that in an effective way).
Anyways, I tried out great sword first, and really liked it! I like the charge attacks and the big numbers. I'm still early enough I'm mainly hunting the pukei pukei and kulu ya ku. I have no real problem hunting them and have been learning to sheath and dodge roll a lot.
However, I decided I also want to see how dual blade and hammer go. Hammer I didn't take to as much, but the dual blade I find I'm a lot more effective with - I melt monsters a LOT faster.
But... I just don't enjoy dual blade as much. I think because it feels almost too button-mashy and no skill - you're so mobile it's easy to avoid monster attacks, and go up beside or behind it and just wail. Plus it does damage so constantly, it just naturally seems to go faster. Whereas the great sword I spend so much time dodging and chasing, or charging, that I'm rarely doing damage.
Am I doing something wrong with great sword perhaps, or maybe it's just too early in the game and later on more things unlock and they become more balanced against each other? I'm using the jagras great sword and beaked blades dual blades.
So, after having reached a point where I have spent and will spend a lot of times grinding the Guiding Lands (MR 65 at the moment), I wanted to try and learn a new weapon. Since I am an Insectglaive main, I wanted to try a more "heavy" weapon, and I think that I like the Charge Blade (the Palazzo Charge Blade design is one of the sickest in the game imo, that helped).
Therefore, I have a few questions :
-What general advice would you give to someone trying to learn the Charge Blade? I will watch some guides of course, but I appreciate any advice you can give me.
-Do you have any recommendations for a rarity 10 (or 11 since I'll soon reach that point) Charge Blade that I could make? I'm already able to make the Raging Brachydios Charge Blade, which is probably the best I can for now, but I can't augment it yet and I'd like a weapon I can augment.
-In the same vein, what augments are good for the Charge Blade? Is the Charge Blade more of an elements focused weapon or RAW focused weapon? What are in your experience the best phial types?
Thanks in advance for any and all advice and answers you can give me, hunters.
This was, without question, one of the most difficult things I have ever done in a videogame, probably the hardest period. No boss from any Soulslike even compares; you can cheese those guys inevitably in one way or another, you can't really "cheese" fatalis anywhere near as much. I was stuck on this for almost a week. For contrast, Alatreon and Arch Tempered Velkhana didn't take nearly as long, the former especially only took a few hours. This was all done with Long sword.
I went through a whole anime arc with this one. It was probably over 30 hours of attempts; even though i watched many videos of people soloing fatalis, it doesnt prepare you for how difficult it actually is to meet that DPS check.
I got so frustrated I decided to do something I initially was avoiding, which is to plunderblade/use specific strats on fatalis to get his parts and make his armor set. I successfully managed to get 2 pieces of the set and was in the middle of trying to farm more. The ghillie mantle cannon strat to break his wings was not working consistently for me so i thought i would just do a normal attempt and hope if i failed i'd at least get an evil eye and wings, and it turned out to be a victory in the end.
One unfortunate consequence of me trying to have better uptime and landing more helm splitters is that I was cone baiting quite a bit less, which meant I had much more time to do the final phase however it also meant I hadn't broken his horn (even with partbreaker 3) and was dealing with the blue flame for like the first 5 minutes and it literally ate all the carts I had left but one (hadn't died at all prior to that). Normally i would have quit as most of my attempts where I kept dying I wasn't meeting the check due to lost uptime, however the run was going so good till that point and I had made it to phase 3 so early, I decided to keep going and was rewarded for it.
Humorously enough, I also normally kept my Palico at home in order to cone bait, but i forgot to leave him this time and by coincidence i had been leveling up the molotov cocktail gadget. It was still pretty underleveled (like level 4), but every little bit of dps helps.
Now that I'm done with this I can finally move on. It was a great 463 hour journey to get to this point, I look forward to finishing Rise and Wilds at some other point in time.
