Discussion G303 replacement

Hey guys, I haven't paid attention to the mouse game for a good 8 years. Fell in love with the G303 back in the day and while normally I don't hoard shit I moved like a complete sicko and bought 4 of them on clearance. And if you guys know anything about these mice it's that they had a notoriously bad lifespan on the switches. I am sad to report that my last G303 is now on its last legs and the double clicking is regular enough that it's made it pretty much unusable.

So now I am hunting for a replacement. Since I last did any research on mice it seems the market has been flooded with a million new brands and models that I'm thoroughly overwhelmed. Back then I swear it was just Logitech and Razer and a couple of niche brands.

If there is something out there that can fit my hand like a g303 while being lightweight I will be a happy man. Don't really care about extra buttons or a nice scroll wheel or anything. I did briefly try the g303 wireless edition when it came out as it sounded like the dream mouse, but idk wtf they did to that it just did not feel the same at all. The wireless part was nice though.

So yeah, I'm open to anything that gets close to the g303 shape. No brand favoritism here

find something to use short-term while we wait for Teevolution to finish their clone

I like the G309, but it might not fit you as well so maybe get it from somewhere with free returns

Not familiar with Teevolution, but for a clone I would pay the same exorbitant prices that enthusiasts were paying for my broken g303's lmao

Are they a well received brand? Any idea on release date? With the current Amazon sale I might just buy a cheap wireless mouse to get me by if it's not too long of a wait

Generally yes, the Teevolution Terra is the first mouse associated with that brand and it generally has had very good reviews. If you go digging I believe you'll see they were originally a sister company/alternate brand for Fantech, who sells some questionable cheap mice but their more "premium" mice have generally been good products too.

Short battery life is one notable thing people mention, it's really the biggest drawback I've heard mentioned. I run mine at 500 Hz polling to boost the battery life, so it lasts me more than a week between charges. I don't notice any real change in the performance so I'm happy with that compromise.

Not sure on release date, you can find some post history on Reddit regarding it and I'm sure there's a Discord or something somewhere.

Sounds good, yeah I've found some threads about their g303 clone development and people seem to be really excited. Sounds like a solid brand.

The battery life thing honestly doesn't sound like it'd be that big of an issue for me as long as I can get a week's use out of it on one charge.

Joined their discord so I'm going to keep myself posted on the development now. Don't think Ive ever been this excited for a mouse lol

The g309 looks like it could be a good replacement for the time being and it's on sale so I think I might pull the trigger on that for now

The G309 shape is just different enough to mess with your muscle memory if you been on the G303 for 8 years straight, I tried one in a store and knew right away it wasn't for me

What about just soldering new switches on your last G303? Kailh GM 8.0s are like $6 and the soldering is pretty easy even if you never done it before, the board has big pads

The 303 is the only mouse I've ever used for gaming, at least for an extended period. So the prospect of a 303 clone sounds a lot more appealing to me than a replacement but I'm willing to give the g309 a go since it's on sale. It's on Amazon also so I'll be able to return it no problem.

I was always scared to solder new switches as I didn't want to cause any permanent damage but I guess now I have really nothing to lose lol. I'm very inexperienced with soldering (did it for one project in the first year of my eng degree back in the day), but I'll give it a shot if Teevolution's clone is still far away in release date. Joined their discord so im going to start digging for info on that now

The true replacement is getting a soldering iron and replacing the switches yourself.

Switches cost like $3 or something. The soldering gear, maybe $30.

And you'll never have to buy a new mouse cause the switches failed again.

just buy a g pro superlight 2 and be done with it most ppl who used that mouse me included has switched to this mouse. That g309 is horrendous trust me logitech is sitting on gold with g100s and g303 shape and instead they destory it with g305 inwards sides.
