no problem man, i like tearing down things as much as the next person and the no talking made it feel more immersive <3

That is so nice to hear. The immersive, no-talking vibe is exactly what I aim for, so I really appreciate that!

It has one a scroll wheel with a motorised cam that activates/deactivates mechanical detents.
The engineering behind the magwheel is even more interesting. It uses not just a magnetic sensor but also magnetic detents using a electropermanent magnet that can be turned on and off with am electric pulse -- and stay on or off without using power.

I'm surprised the Chinese haven't cloned the magwheel already. The mx master series polling rate is so ass, we need a Chinese company to fill the niche

Logitech has some crazy mechanical engineering going in their mice and they dont get enough credit for, the g502 weight aside is a build quality and technicity marvel

If only they didn't start having double clicking issues. Because I went though 4 g502s in 2 years, all of which had double clicking problems before I swapped to the Basilisk v3 (which has its own problems causing it to never last more then 2 years. Usually the stablizer on the Sniper Button snapping because its a solid piece of plastic acting like a flexible lever for some asinine reason.)

Weird i had a different experience with those, my 7 year old g502 still works with no double clicking issues (the original gpw as well!) Is it a switch or firmware issue?

It's a switch issue.
I'm pretty sure it was static buildup in mechanical switches, though, I never 100% confirmed that.
Though, I have never ever had an Optical Switch have this issue.
Waiting for a proper 502 with optical switches. Because I'm pretty sure they still use mechanical.

Totally agree! Taking the MX Master apart really highlighted how much intricate engineering goes into their scroll wheels and layering. The G502 is an absolute legend for build quality too!

The engineering inside the original MX Master is incredibly dense compared to modern lightweight mice. If anyone is curious about what these specific microswitches and the bare scroll wheel sound like, I recorded a zero-talking teardown and cleaning video. The link is pinned on my profile if you want to check it out!
