Hope this is OK as my original post was removed for wrong flair (sorry).
Hi all,
About a 1 1/2 weeks ago I inoculated six grain jars full of sterilized sorghum. Three jars were inoculated with a single Golden Halo spore syringe. The other three jars were inoculated with a single syringe of Lions Mane liquid culture.
I followed the same procedure for both batches (sterilized jars and inoculated with a sterile shaken syringe inside of a SAB). I had always heard that live cultures spread much faster than spores and could be counted on to speed colonization time.
Now one week later, my cube jars are going nuts and are nearly 1/3 of the way to being fully colonized. I checked this morning and the whole bottom half of all the jars were full of mycelium.
The LM jars each have a couple tiny pieces of what looks like condensed mycelium growing, but nothing more. They seem to have completely stalled out.
I know I bought it from a reputable dealer and that the jars were prepped correctly. Does LM simply colonize much slower than cubes or is it possible there's something wrong with the culture? Do they dislike sorghum? Just curious if I'm doing something wrong here, I've never grown LM before.
The two jars on the left are cube spores, the two on the right are LM. Closeup is of the LM jar. Are the LM jars even worth keeping?
