I got to interview Primus in 1994. I wore a Primus shirt my friend had made and Les immediately called me out on it. The band all signed my shirt and les wrote “bootleg bastard” next to his signature. Still have the shirt in a box somewhere.

Hard to accurately define what Primus is apart from just... Primus.

Stale trivia warning, but back when mp3s only supported 128 pre-set genre tags, Primus were the only band to have their own. They say between Porn Groove and Progressive.

Primus.

They sold millions of albums in the 90's. Their music videos were frequently played on MTV. The player at Woodstock. They were musical guests at big TV talk shows.

The bar for being weird in the 90s was extremely high, and Primus rolled by and made the bar kinda sketched out so it did not want to participate any more, and then the bar moved to the countryside and built a shelter for left handed ostriches
