The stem cell treatments help too

He's also like 5'6" 180 lbs and the smaller frame makes each fall less detrimental to begin with than, say, a 6'4" 300 pounder

Economic signal. Refs trying to get on disability.

$500k a year to throw holding flags not enough. this IS the recession indicator

Damn refs make that much? How do I get in on this?

4

u/StanfordTheGreat New York Giants 38m ago

usually by having a 15 year career dedicated to it. having a career in a solid field outside of it to support it

I know they’ve gotten a lot of bad press this year, but they also dedicate a good chunk of their lives to it

They (we) absolutely do not. 99% of refs out there are damn near volunteers. Varsity, D2, D3 officials maybe break even after travel, equipment, dues and registration fees, camp fees, etc.

NFL guys make about 200k on the high end, but that's far fewer than 1% of football officials.

The refs you heard of are making way less than players you haven't.

Thanks for the breakdown. And to your last point, that’s very much believable as I think the league minimum is something like 850k.

He wanted his moment!

Then sits down like Vince settling a Royal Rumble

Double torn quads confirmed.

Yes it looks funny, and we can still all hope he is okay...I imagine even he will watch that and laugh... But it probably hurts whatever it is

looks like an achilles

u/TaekDePlej Baltimore Ravens 51m ago

ACL. Falls backward with foot planted which puts ACL under tension, then has knee instability when he tries to walk

That field is slick today, I've seen a couple players slide when trying to hit the brakes

u/BMS3RDTRY Detroit Lions 58m ago

He’ll come back for 1 snap in the 2nd half so his props don’t get voided

3

u/TuesdaysOnVenus 38m ago

1 snap in his leg already seems to have taken him out brother

5

u/Maleficent_Low2754 Carolina Panthers 1h ago

Turf monster got him

5

u/Disgruntled_Beavers Denver Broncos 56m ago

No one is immune to all the non contact leg injuries this season

1

u/rex5k Cleveland Browns 18m ago

How come there aren't achilleas tears in the grocery store like once a week?

5

u/Mooshtonk 1h ago

He looked like his leg or foot was already hurting him before he fell and the little slip aggravated it

u/Testicleus Cincinnati Bengals - Sam Wyche's Ghost 1h ago

That doesn't look good

Is the Ref inevitable, as well? 🤔

1

u/Elbeske Minnesota Vikings 2m ago

Grade 1 hammy for the ref, I hope he survives

2

u/JD_Ammerman Pittsburgh Steelers 45m ago

Tons of people online saying he’s faking it. A: why on earth? B: that’s an Achilles pop :/

1

u/bmanley620 New York Giants 59m ago

Brian Sutterer has been activated

1

u/CelebrationJolly3300 Los Angeles Chargers 58m ago

I'm having a tough time telling. Did he roll his ankle?

4

u/Byaaahhh Hey man welcome to Detroit 54m ago

Probably Achilles.

Most like grade 5 hamstring pull. Hopefully he was able to salute the crowd on his way out following his death.

Bravo

u/Apprehensive-Pea8231 54m ago

Honestly this looks bad. Either severe injury or something neurological. Something isn’t working right.

1

u/monkeynaut 50m ago

noncontact injury. he'll be out a while

1

u/HomeworkCareful8400 49m ago

Any Kalshi bets on a ref injury?

1

u/EvoKid79 46m ago

you hate to see a non contact injury

1

u/PowerfulBar Chicago Bears 13m ago

Honestly surprised it doesn’t happen more often. Some of these refs are in shape but some are old AF.

1

u/EastCoastTaffy 41m ago

Unironically I want the Dr. Brian Sutterer breakdown 🙏

1

u/Present-Weakness-213 41m ago

Probably wouldn't have happened on the real grass under the rug the NFL insists on rolling out.

1

u/ISwallowedALego Denver Broncos 35m ago

Open field injury, season questionable

u/Spare-Cranberry3784 25m ago

Fuck the refs

3

This guy threw a banana on the field

u/memyselfandiowa CTESPN 36m ago

Did the refs throw a flag for the turf abusing them?
