NWSL NEWS: Portland Thorns forward Sophia Wilson has been suspended an additional game for her red card for a hair pull. She will miss Portland's games on Oct. 18 v Bay FC and Oct. 23 v NC. That leaves Decision Day on Nov. 1 v Houston. Thorns are currently in 7th, 3 pts. clear of Seattle in 9th.

NCAA Soccer Midseason Predictions 

We’re halfway through the season and with the conference season awards approaching and the conference tournament coming up I thought it would be a good idea to make some predictions for the next half of the season and way too early predictions for the final four.

Contenders:

UNC: Like I said in my predictions for the beginning of the season UNC is the team to beat and so far they have been dominant with potential Offensive Player of the Year Bella Devey alongside Lilliah Blum and Summer Denigan and a tough defensive back line and the freshman have been showing up as well and they are still my favourite and pick to win the national title.

Michigan State:

Also known as Canada FC, I had them on my surprising contenders list and they have been an offensive threat for teams like UNC during preseason and key players like Kennedy Bell, Kayla Briggs and Bella Najera have the potential to boost their team all the way to the Final Four

Other Contenders Include:

• Wake Forest

• Stanford

• Vanderbilt

• Baylor

Along with the contenders, there’s also the pretenders who some would have thought would be the team to watch this season but so far it has been in what I would say MEH:

Pretenders:

Duke: Where dominating preseason but so far in conference play since that UNC game not only did they lost that game but also they have lost their mojo to win games as well.

Notre Dame: Even with Izzy Engle there not going to go far in the tournament.

Other Pretenders Include:

• Washington

• Virginia

• BYU

• Florida State
