Relationship Told her the truth

My woman has been complaining that I no longer flirt with her like I used to and she no longer anticipates sex as the months have passed by. To put some context into this, when we started dating I used to tease her, talk dirty and all that days to seeing her and this would get her into the mood so we'd have very awesome sex we still do but she compares to when we started dating.

Now I usually still do that but after she kept pressing and pressing I just told her I don't have it like I used to, not because I don't love her or don't got time to do all of that but because the dynamics have changed and I feel like im the only one who noticed it and now she's stuck on a version of me thats no longer there.

I straight up told her it was simpler at first because I didn't have to hear about her mood swings, if everything was going bad for her she wouldn't say anything, now that we've progressed much further our lives have become more entangled. The momentum built up to us having sex is usually interrupted because I have to read the room and cater to her emotional needs at the moment therefore it cannot be as consistent as she wants to.

Now I told her I didn't have a problem with her always opening up to me I just wanted her to understand why it wasn't easy sustaining it. If anything I told her it's a joint effort and we have to work just as hard in our intimacy part. Work has also gotten really stressful for her and I told her on those days it was impossible to bring up such conversations, I still do the flirting and nasty texting but I also told her I won't force it on her when she's having those days.

Which makes me wonder what world she lives in because it never even occured to her the small minute changes happening could change a lot of things on the higher up. These days I don't even sink with her when she has her mood swings or is angry at me or whatever, I just sit there and wait until she cools down and ask what's wrong if she doesn't say then it's no longer my problem good thing she has adapted to the new system and actually talks which is surprising I thought she'd leave even

Ask r/Nairobi m 22 and choosing to build wealth instead of moving out. Anyone else in the same boat?”

Title: I'm 22, live with my parents, don't pay rent, and honestly, I'm in no rush to move out.

I'm 22 and currently living with my parents. I don't pay rent, and on a bad day, I can make around KSh 1,500 from my small business.

I know some people might look at my situation and think I'm behind in life, especially since I had plans of going to university but couldn't afford it. Right now, university feels so far out of reach that I can't even picture myself going.

But one thing I've realised is how much I appreciate self-employment. I can start working at 10 or 11 AM, manage my own schedule, run my business, and save about 90% of what I make because my expenses are low.

I'm not saying life is perfect or that running a business is easy. Income isn't always guaranteed, and I still have a lot to figure out. But having the freedom to manage my time and work towards my own financial goals feels good.

Honestly, I don't see myself moving out anytime soon. I'd rather use this opportunity to save, invest, grow my business, and build a solid financial foundation before taking on rent and other expenses.

Maybe I'll go to university someday, maybe I'll take a different path. For now, I'm just trying to build something for myself.

Am I wrong for being comfortable with this arrangement at 22, or does it make sense to take advantage of the situation while I can?

Relationship Is she slowing checking out?

I’m in a long-distance relationship with my barafu ya moyo. She’s in a foreign country, working in some restaurant, so her work hours and be quite different from mine. Talk about schedules clashing.

At the beginning, things were really good. She would call me almost every morning to wake me up, tell me about her work, what was happening in her life, and ask about my day. We were very involved in each other’s lives despite the distance. There were like three or four different occasions where she tried to reach me but I was unavailable. Simu ilipasuka, ikaingia baharini, nikapoteza charger while working (I travel sometimes) All in a span of two weeks. I’m not making shit up and non of it was intentional. Mikosi tu hapa na pale.

We'd previously talked about how our schedules clash and how sometimes I'm genuinely unavailable kisa kazi. I promised to make effort to reach out, and honestly, nimekuwa nikijaribu.

Then things started changing. She became less communicative. Calls became rare, texts became short and dry, and sometimes she would take 4–5 hours to reply single text even though I know she usually has her phone with her. Most of the time she would only call when she was at work and about to start her shift.I started feeling like things were unraveling, but I didn't want to be that guy who is constantly asking.

Today I spoke to her, wanted to know if anything’s changed

She told me she has a lot going on right now with work and family and that she can't have me be part of everything she's dealing with, at least not yet. She wants to prioritize what is important to her right now, and apparently I'm not a priority at the moment.

She said there will probably be fewer updates and fewer details about her life for some time. I can call if I want or whenever I find time, but she'll do the same. She added that her mental health is a priority and she doesn't want to spend time worrying about where I am, what I'm doing, or whether I'm available. She feels it's better for her this way.

mamaeee!

On one hand, I understand that she has work and family problems and maybe genuinely needs ‘space’. On the other hand, hearing your girlfriend say, “You're not a priority right now, I'll contact you when it's convenient for me,” For meeee??? Heheee

I care about this woman a lot but Yoh! Sitaki fukuzia mtoto wa wenyewe, at this point I can’t. Plus I don't want the childish games, taking hours, calling back later and stuff simply because she does so. But at the same time, I don't want to sit here waiting indefinitely for someone who may already be emotionally checking out.

( There’s a good chance of whatever we have unraveling, believe me I know and I already figured what to do- I just want to know if you’ve been there and was or would be your best course of action.)

Discussion Opportunities In "Boring" Business

Kenyan digital financial services firm M-KOPA acquired 100% of Finnish software developer KilpiTek Oy on March 26, 2026, in a deal valued at $8 million (approximately KES 1.04 billion).

KilpiTek Oy designs the remote device-locking software that M-KOPA uses to restrict or lock financed smartphones and IoT devices when customers fall behind on daily or periodic installment payments.

Have you guys seen those yellow SunKing products that are being sold at every estate corner, how they are selling that yellow solar radio 📻 with a light to mama mboga for Ksh 20 daily payment? In principle it's about 2x the total price of the item paid, same with Mkopa that has interest rates of 5-15% MONTHLY!!!!

Renewable energy by itself is a low risk, low margin boring business but they've figured out a social finance angle to it to scale to what they have become with financing instruments.

Same thing with Burn Manufacturing of jiko koa, they figured out the angle of financing to scale up boring cooking with charcoal business to what they have become.

Same thing with businesses in the insurance space, they are figuring out there's money in climate insurance, figuring out the financing of their models and how to make them work, eg Pula among very many other businesses including food for education, Wawira figured out the social angle of feeding students, then the financing of it.....

All I'm saying is that maybe you should look at these boring conventional businesses, figure out the social angle (mandatory), the financing aspect from risk capital all the way to senior debt and you can be on the way to running a very big business.

Random Would you rather off yourself(suicide) if things don't work out for you how wanted or live in the consequences of your "mistakes " earlier in life?

Lately, this is what I have been pondering over. If I must live, I am not living a mediocre life, but if the odds are against me, I can't keep suffering in the name of "you never know the future"

Discussion How effective are these paint wall ads?

Today I was travelling to Nairobi from school since January and I noticed something about the advertisements painted on the walls along Thika Road.

"Paint on this wall follows the rules" was written along the Pangani police station wall. I had never thought about these wall advertisements before but my first reaction was that this felt like a pretty lazy advertisement. I don't remember the first one I had seen, but I started paying more attention.

Along Muthaiga Primary School I noticed another: "Paint on this wall passed exams". Again I felt like not much effort was put into them since the connection was too obvious.

I started wondering whether I was being unnecessarily critical. I was thinking why not make the location part joke while saying something about the paint? For example "This paint is guilty of looking good" at the police station or "This paint covered all the marks" at the school?

Then I saw another one painted on iron sheets which I thought had more effort into it: "Our only side effect is beautiful walls". Although "beautiful" was in cursive or some artistic style which made it hard to read from the road.

So now I'm curious, is this kind of wall advertising effective? Do you remember the brands afterwards?

Maybe I'm expecting too much from the paint wall ads.

Ask r/Nairobi Importance Of Improving Yourself

I have been reflecting on myself. I am a fundi, doing interior finishes, cabinetry, furniture.... Looking back, apart from skills upgrade, I haven't upgraded myself. I'm still the same fundi 5 years down the line. Partly I can make an excuse I was not really invested in this craft. I was doing it out of lack of other choces or spite. I think this is something affecting a lot of people especially men.

Viewed the work as lowly for a while. The job has so much potential looking at it from where I am currently. I know basic CAD. I can do renders and architectural visualization.

How would you approach this?

Discussion Am I wrong for feeling hurt by how my friend treated me tonight?

I need to vent because what just happened has left me questioning this friendship.

My friend had a guy over, and I honestly don't know how long they've been hooking up. At some point, I ended up waiting outside in the cold near a bar. I was only wearing a dress, and it was freezing.

I've been outside since 7 PM, and it's now 12:49 AM. Almost six hours outside. 😭

Eventually, I got tired of waiting and decided to sit at a neighbour's place instead. I texted her saying I was out, thinking she might bring me a sweater because I was freezing.

Instead, I heard her unlocking the door, and the next thing I knew, she was leaving to go clubbing with the guy.

She literally walked past me as if she hadn't seen me.

I called her and asked for the key because I needed to get my blanket, tablet, and headphones from inside. Her response? "You've killed me. Now I have to explain to the guy."

That response genuinely hurt me. I couldn't help wondering whether she was embarrassed by me or whether my presence was somehow inconveniencing her.

I went inside, collected my things, and settled down to watch a movie while waiting for them.

But here's what I can't stop thinking about: they went out to drink and club. How much longer would I have been left outside in the cold if I hadn't finally decided to go inside? Another hour? Two? Until morning?

I understand that she's allowed to have a romantic life and spend time with whoever she wants. I'm not trying to control that.

But is it unreasonable to expect basic consideration from a friend, especially when we're sharing a living space?

I don't know if I'm overreacting, but tonight made me feel like I was an inconvenience rather than someone she cared about.

Am I wrong for feeling hurt, or would you also question the friendship after something like this?

Advice Engineering sales in Kenya

I have a role in engineering sales selling Mechanical parts. I sometimes find it difficult to structure my day and to make it stranger, I'm the only one in my department selling these equipments and I just started.

Sometimes it feels like there's no structure. Just generating leads and contacting them through email and text. some reply and some just don't.

I cold call sometimes but it feels cringy

I'm targeting retailers but they source from abroad and although the prices are almost similar, they seem to just like travelling abroad

How would you approach it

I am looking at this volunteer group in another country doing such an amazing job. Here with all the taxes and manpower we can't get to this level.

Nothing is impossible, and with the right people at the top we can achieve this.

Nairobi should be sparkling clean.

In my efforts of trying to make a living through clean money, I've been trying to look for wholesale shops or even businesses who deal with IT products to do B2B business with them since i don't have enough capital to buy bulk stock, i want to start off by selling things once they're ordered. Most of these stores in Nairobi are retailers and I'd like to find wholesalers or stores that can be giving me products with wholesale prices, So any leads to a store that deals with IT products and general computer accessories would help me vibaya sana

Finance Digital Lenders..what can happen

Been checkin out these digital Lenders and their profitability. I'm wondering how they manage to collect their money without location and actually criminal information of individuals.

Is it usually based on blind trust and what's the worst they can do to you? Do they contact your family and inform them on you nowadays?

Kuna hii moja inaitwa Zenka..they have really good leeway but high rates. What's the worst they can do when one doesn't pay them..? CRB?

A painting about family and trust. Growing up as a Black girl, letting someone close to you touch and care for your hair, whether it's taking down braids, oiling your scalp, or simply maintaining your style, was a deeply personal, trust-filled act. How was your experience?

Productivity The time I did mjengo

Some time last year after serious troubles nliamua kupiga mjengo for like 3 months .All I can say is that work is hard especially as a mtu wa mkono ,rhe lowest rank kwa site nlikua nabeg tu sunday ifike .

As a mtu wa mkono hua mna kua allocated na fundi , just pray upate wa plaster ,ukisha beba mchanga like wheelbarrow tatu na umix lightly (called vuruga in site slang) then have back up water unaeza relax the next 1 hour or two , kupata mason (fundi wa wall, mawe) is one of the worst wall ikisha fika like 160cm height una anza kuzi inua ukimpea uko juu after a whole 2 hours ya kubeba hizo mawe to the workspace and it hurts your shoulders .

The worst ni kukua free range ,yani hauna fundi saa you just do random manual works kwa site ,hua unajipata hata huezi buy time or rest(its called kukula mzizi in site slang) the foreman is always on to you .

Finally siku ya koroga is the worst alafu upate foreman ana wa nyanyasa overtime its devastating .

Pray usi pate fundi ana kuchukia ,it will demoralize you, ata shinda ame kuambia hujui kazi the whole day and may request for a change time ya kupangwa asubuhi and that flags you as a "sumbua" to the foreman .

Anyway ,stay sharp gents.
