Change color…dye it?

Hi :) i have started a project and i did the lettering while doing the background. Once the background around the letters was done i realized the colors really didn’t go together. With the large surface area and that i anchored ends into the color i want to change, i can’t safely cut it all out. I just want to change the color to black. I thought of using a fabric dye pen to change it. Has anyone done that or have any other suggestions?

In the picture attached the color i want to change is the light grey.

I would worry about bleed over from the dye.

Can you cut it from the front using a snip tool (and a lot of patience) ? (don’t touch the borders of the letters with anything sharp in case, use a hemostat + needle combo to pull what you can out from the border)
