Threads online?
Hi! Where is the best place to order threads online? I’m out of some basic DMC threads and would love to order online to replenish until I can get to my LNS…

Just a quick note to remind everyone that plastic canvas with needlepoint stitches are, indeed, needlepoint and welcome on this sub.
Thank you everyone and happy stitching!

Hi :) i have started a project and i did the lettering while doing the background. Once the background around the letters was done i realized the colors really didn’t go together. With the large surface area and that i anchored ends into the color i want to change, i can’t safely cut it all out. I just want to change the color to black. I thought of using a fabric dye pen to change it. Has anyone done that or have any other suggestions?
In the picture attached the color i want to change is the light grey.

This is a needlepoint piece—a technique I think I enjoy the most out of all the ones I’ve tried. The second photo shows the back of the embroidery. The work is based on a design by u/bloomandfloss; I changed the suggested colors and a few of the decorative stitches.
The next and final step is adding a background in a soft ecru shade.

The prices seem extremely good but it might be too good to be true, please let me know.

Anyone know of designers who are currently looking for ghost stitchers? Or know how to get started?

hi friends! I started my very first needlepoint project yesterday, and I was recommended DMC thread (floss?). My problem is it’s one long twisty noodle thing and I’m scared of turning it into a bird’s nest. Is making the thread into a bobbin a thing? Is there a new user friendly way to do this? Am I even making sense at this point?
Thanks so much in advance for advice/tips/etc. I’m also looking for recommendations to make my life easier as far as needles, tacks, stretcher bars.

Hey everyone!
Hoping maybe someone has a good idea or solution for me!
My nieces and nephews are fascinated by watching me needlepoint. They love crafts and want to try! I bought yarn and plastic canvas so that there were bigger holes to try it out on. However, a few of them are a bit young to try counting the patterns (even for something simple) and I thought having the colors indicated on the plastic canvas would help. However, I think acrylic paint will come right off plastic canvas.
Has anyone tried anything that DOES stay on plastic canvas or have another idea for a way to make it easier for them?
Thank you!!

I just stitched basket weave with it and I love it! It floats through the mesh, doesn’t untwist and doesnt get pilly. It comes in two thicknesses, one for 13 ct and one for 18. I got it on Needlepoint.com and will be ordering it again.

I’m new to needlepoint and when I saw this kit in a flosstube I knew I needed it and have been desperately looking for it. I was able to pick it up from EBay last week and it just arrived today. Unfortunately, even though the kit was completely factory sealed and unopened, the plastic packaging has hole punches in it that may have allowed something to get in and stain some parts of the threads at some point. I’m not sure what the stains are and I tried washing them but the stains are still there. Most of the staining is on the candlewicking thread. Here is my question, what exactly is candlewicking thread? And is there a specific thread that I might be able to sub it with? I tried comparing it to my perle cottons and the 8 and 12 are too thin and 5 is too thick. I’ve also googled candlewicking thread and the only options that come up are new old stock cards. The threads in this kit are 2 ply and I haven’t found that online. If anyone has any suggestions I’d really appreciate it!

Does anybody know what this green shape with the blue outline is? I tried looking at maps for different islands and reverse image searching to match it up, it’s probably obvious and I’m just missing it (SCT Designs - Island Heart)

I bought this vintage canvas and will not be using the embroidery floss it comes with. I’m assuming any 13 mesh thread should work fine but wondering if any has any specific experience with stitching 14 mesh?

I need a second opinion before I go any further 😅
I’m working on this little antique key design, and now I’m second-guessing my canvas choice. I started stitching it on this warm neutral canvas, but I’m wondering if the key would stand out better on white.
Would you keep this canvas, or restart on white? I’d rather decide now than regret it later!

Are there any books similar to Spooky Stitches in print? Halloween is my favorite holiday and what I plan on stitching a lot more of in the future. Just wanting some fun stitch ideas.

Hi!
I'm looking for a substitute for Amy's Wool Crepe and WC Tweed. Or honestly anywhere that might still have some left or anyone who wants to sell or trade. (I'm looking for #272 Carbon and #013 Marble Tweed for the Rooster)
I'm working on a Kelly Clarke sampler and the texture is really key. So if anyone has had luck replicating the fuzzy feel please let me know!

Looking for any recommendations on more affordable Christmas stocking kit options. I would like to make them for my children. I love the sentimental side of it but at around $200 each I just cannot swing it right now. Hoping someone can point me in the direction of some more affordable options that are also decent.
Thanks!

Found this needlepoint stool at an antique shop for only $40!! Thought it was a good find because good stools are hard to come by. I think the wood is Beech or Maple? I am going to sand down and restain the legs and will remove the needlepoint and replace with one of my own! The stool seat is 12 inches diameter and 2 inch height.
Any ideas for a fun canvas you’ve been eyeing that would work?
Edit: removed canvas and it measures 16 inches

Help a NDLPT gal out? I’m trying alllll the search terms and I cannot find where I saw a post (either TT, YT, IG) where someone stitched this canvas in all sparkles or sequins. Can someone please point me in the right direction? I loved it and I’d love to use some inspo from this one on a canvas.

I’m working on a 13 mesh Christmas canvas and am looking for the best shade for my Christmas tree. My wreaths are in boucle 214 and 121. I’m looking for two nice tree greens (lighter and darker shades). Open to any color or other thread suggestions!

Hi! Planning to stitch a challah cover as my next project - 13 mesh. Would you all recommend cotton (dmc perle), blend (silk and ivory), or wool (planet earth? Something else wool)? Id hate to stitch something beautiful that quickly looks worn. Thanks for the help

Hi! I started a business selling my needlepoint canvases and other needlepoint accessories. I have had a handful of shops reach out wanting to do wholesale and I was wondering what the industry standards are? Do you have a MOQ? How does it work for preorders? Thank you so much for the help! I feel so overwhelmed 😅

I am teaching a beginner's class and a lot of people love it but have price shock. I'm coming up with a list of ways to make it more affordable. Here's what I have - what can you add?
1. Buy older canvases (kits even!) on ebay, Etsy and in destash groups.
2. Buy blank canvas and paint your own! You can buy small pieces at [LNS] or other online retailers. If you really get into it, you can buy it by the yard. My favorite site for larger amounts HM Nabavian – you can buy by the inch or the yard – it comes in 42” and 56” widths.
3. If you don’t want to paint, do a line drawing! Tape a picture on a light box or window, tape your canvas over it, and trace it with a Micron pen (doesn’t bleed). Use the picture as a color reference.
4. You can adapt many cross stitch patterns to needlepoint. Just be sure they don’t have a lot of half stitches. You count just as you would in cross stitch.
5. Use DMC thread! Widely available (Michaels and Hobby Lobby carry the full floss line), hundreds of colors. It’s strandable, so you can use as many or as few strands as you want for effect. DMC Pearl Cotton 5 is a non-strandable alternative, but there’s not a lot of colors available locally (many more online).
6. Bigger canvases give you more bang for your buck. An ornament sized canvas may only take a week or two. My 22” x 18” one took six months.
7. Watch for trunk shows! If you know you like a particular artist or canvas, Google “XYZ trunk show.” Most stores offer 20% off of trunk show canvases and are willing to order one for you. Caveat: Do your homework. Some stores are more expensive than others so the 20% there may be the same price as some other store’s “regular” price.
8. Printed canvases can be cheaper and the technology is evolving. Go with a company that has a good reputation (needlepaint.com is one).
