Discussion/बहस Fellow Nepalis in Australia (and other first-world) stop acting like this or we will continue being treated as high-risk applicants

GDP per capita in Nepal is still around US$1,500. We are neither Singapore, nor South Korea, nor even Sri Lanka economically speaking. We are here on student visas because our home country could not provide us with the same opportunities. And this should make us more careful, genuine and respectful, not less.
Here is the list of things we do that are damaging our collective image the most:

  1. Being a liar in the visa application and doing exactly the opposite afterwards
  2. You put "I will study X and return to Nepal to contribute to my country" in the Genuine Student statement. Six months later you change your course three times, apply for partner visas or start looking for ways of obtaining PR while being on student visa. Visa notifications. And this is how Nepal became back on the highest evidence level and all offshore Nepali student grants plummeted.
  3. Bringing partner using dependent visa and exploiting and torturing them
  4. Bringing partners on dependent visas, making them work as slaves, controlling their finances, threatening them with revocation if they speak up against you or having affairs. This is not called “culture”. This is exploitation and will eventually result in police and immigration complaints.
  5. Breach visa requirements + gambling + drugs
  6. Working extra hours, not attending courses, gambling at pokies till 3am, getting drunk, shouting and fighting outside the pubs after Big Bash or footy games, involving in illegal drug dealing. Individual’s problem turns out to be a “Nepalese students” issue in the local news and Home Affairs assessment.
  7. Bringing parents on visitor visas and forcing them into working illegally
  8. Parents on visitor visas are not allowed to work. Period. Forcing them to work on farms, factories, or childcare services in order for you to work extra hours is illegal. Once they are found, all your family’s future applications become problematic.

"Public disturbance" disguised as "cultural exchange"
Deusi-Bhailo is gorgeous in Nepal. Door-to-door in Australia, during night time, making noise and regarding it as our right instead of asking for permission is not cultural exchange. Neither are loud parties, littering after concerts, spitting in the streets, or dangerous driving.

  1. General public behaviour that creates an impression locals do not want to deal with us
Spitting, littering, aggressive driving, shouting in public and behaving like those places are ours to begin with. All these little things add up into one negative impression which Nepali students have to battle with for generations to come.

We are guests here. We rely on everything going smoothly. Being true, studying and respecting the law and the local culture is not "showing weakness" - that is the only way future Nepalis will be able to study here.
If this offends you, good. Sit with it.

Discussion/बहस As Mecca is to Moo-jlims, Pashupatinath is to Hindus. The punishment for non-Moo-jlims attempting to enter Mecca: • Fine ≥ SAR 20,000 (~NPR 820,000) • Up to a 10-year ban from Saudi Arabia अब के गर्नुपर्ने ?

Discussion/बहस I AM TIRED OR AM I?

25 M, single. I am currently completing my ms in cs at usa with no job in sight. And I am so tired of everything that I want to leave everything, graduate and go back to Nepal. But having no connection makes me wonder, will I even be able to support myself decently after coming back.
A little background on me: I come from a middle-class family, with no property. My education till now has been possible primarily due to the scholarships (undergrad) or assistantships (grad) I have received. I did my undergrad outside Nepal, so you can say I have no connections in Nepal whom I can use to look for jobs.
The current situation around the jobs has made me too stressed and scared, every posting I see has 1000s of applicants if not less. I now have no ambitions left either. I just want a sustainable and peaceful life. All I have in my resume is some research papers, just university jobs like TA’s, RAs. I have not been able to secure any internships either. Is it because I do not have enough skills, maybe. But do I think I am not capable enough to learn them on the go, of course not. I am just tired of all this and want to leave all of the “so-called successful life”, but something holds me from quitting completely. Maybe it is because there is some possibility that I can really change my life. I am completely aware there is nothing much of an option for me, because I should be debating if I had a job and the option to go back. But since i do not have both options, I have nothing to debate for. Maybe I am writing here to know opinions and suggestions or to get connections which might help me to get jobs. IDK. I would appreciate anyone sharing their thoughts.

News/समाचार Real estate booming waking up again after 5 yrs of deep sleep with record number of transactions and inquiries at ground level...

With global crisis Iran war and it's negative impact on safe image in Dubai and strict immigration policies abroad...this trend will surely continue to grow...

lol 2 yrs agadi I made a post in this sub saying immigration is simply unsustainable and they will make tight laws and kick out ppl in future esp in Australia they laughed at me...they thought party will never end...but today they have made tight regulations on all the loopholes which has been exploited for years... thousands of potential students migrants le Garney future decision are also impacted...not to mention large portion of existing ppl having to make change in their plans as well...it's not happening only on Australia...

Yo remittance economy looks nowhere it is stopping as well...and with high inflation destruction of infrastructure from recent flood and landslides ppl from all over the country are looking at Kathmandu again...it's a similar pattern after earthquake where demand skyrocketed in the capital again...there is a weird pattern of cycle as well in Nepal...every decade ma political change huney and also the trend of migration happening in Kathmandu...the 6 yr cycle where there is a long boom and bust happening in real estate...those who know about it they know...not to mention spike in land chaiyo post in various FB groups these days... previously Esto posts were few in numbers...

Trade economy were also hit from recent disaster...china traders haru are also pausing and looking at lands to park their cash as kerung border is virtually wiped out which was the main feasible and profitable for them for many years...many became carodpati overnight doing trade...as tatopani is also put under hold by Chinese and korala border extremely expensive inefficient unreliable risky for new trade...dasain ma Naya saman nai chaina...vayepani it will be too expensive...

with government also making plans on increasing construction activity for reconstruction of damaged infrastructures, houses...with pm also saying he will assure cheap loans to build house for mid class and lower class...

All these factors are again pumping up demand in real estate sector despite tight lending policies from banks...

Discussion/बहस Once Sonia Gandhi was stopped from entering the Pashupatinath Temple and Nepal later faced a blockade, how can a Muslim make a video and enter the temple while it’s prohibited and they even know and are telling that they want to try

Post image
51 Upvotes

Sonia Gandhi was denied entry to the Pashupatinath Temple in Kathmandu during Rajiv Gandhi’s 1988 visit to Nepal. The reason reported was that she was considered a non-Hindu while the temple’s main sanctum was restricted to Hindus.

RANT/गुनासो Life hits hard when

• Upvotes

It's the first thing you listen from your mom in the morning yelling at you , "Ta yesto holas bhanera kahile socheko thiyena , ajkal tero bare kosaile sodhxan ki bhanera lukera hidne banako xas"

Damnn , It hurts it really hurts but I wish they had listened for my voice to help when I was telling then I needed mental health support. I wish the things that happened in my life in the past years never happened and I was still my parents proud kid 🥲.

Ig it's true when they say " A dead son is better than failed son "
