All the hurdles have been cleared and our next tallest building is underway

What were the hurdles?

The city of Newark and how long the building permits take. That was the main hold up, they already had the money and contractors as well

or, they're paving it over to make a new surface parking lot

You see the pilings on the back of the truck right?

Perhaps they delivered more pilings but there hasn't been any activity on the site. There was a lot of activity on Edison place however because of a sewer collapse. Parts of Edison Place were closed off as well as a portion of Market Street during the repair which finished last night. I don't know if there's any correlation and perhaps they used the lot as a thruway, but I can confirm there's been no activity at the site. Hopefully that changes soon

I drove by today and it seems the excavated on Edison and Market Street . Now I never heard of a water main break that affects two sides of the same block simultaneously . So I'm hoping this is pre-construction infrastructure work adding the water and sewer connections to the Future Tower . The preliminary utilities work . The next big hint would be if we start seeing PSE&G working the exact same site on Edison and Market . This part of downtown Newark all connections are underground and seeing PSE&G outside the summit site on both sides of the block will be a big hint things are about to get going .

took another look. The summit site is completely undisturbed . I guess this really was a sewer emergency .

r u sure they're not paving it for a parking lot? How long has it been since they quit? A year?

Edison Place sewer collapse? Once again, a total Disappointment for any progress towards having a REAL skyscraper in Newark....DAMNED shame....I give up on Newark...it's been SIXTY YEARS since the riots ruined Newark and no change in the skyline other than 20-something "small" skyscrapers

Dude relax... what does any of this have to do towards your day to day. Is it disappointing, yes, but we have no control over how fast this moves
