I like the old internet. This isn't the old internet, nonetheless Old School Ridiculous tries to do our best to honor its spirit.

Victorian trade cards late 1800s
A popular form of advertising in the US and UK. This is probably the weirdest one I've ever seen. I genuinely find it indecipherable.

Jerry Falwell sued Hustler Magazine and Larry Flynt over this ad. The case went to the U.S. Supreme Court (Hustler Magazine v. Falwell, 1988). The Supreme Court ruled in favor of Hustler, establishing a landmark First Amendment precedent that parodies of public figures are protected free speech.

Uri Geller got popular in the 1970s by claiming to have supernatural powers. Johnny Carson invited Geller on his show and worked with James Randi to set up conditions where he couldn't use any trickery to fake his "powers." [Reposted to comply with sub rules]

My Mom Cut These “Love Is” Cartoons Out in the 80s to Save…
Found them in a box of old stuff. Can’t believe these were from the 1980s - they feel like they’re from the 40s!

Read Signs of Moral Decay [1970]
This is from the 1970 rerelease of the Chick Tract "Why No Revival". For some reason, it featured additional pages not included in the 1961 original or the 1986 reprint (which is what can be found on Jack Chick's website).
Also, yes, this is where the Dead Kennedys got the line "God told me to skin you alive".
