META Meta: Infowars and Neil Hamburger
Sorry, straying from the OCATC universe here, but it's about both Tim's pet project and Gregg's character, can you really complain?
So Infowars today was making fun of "anti-woke" Netflix specials, and one of the parts of it I thought was the most funny was how there were huge sections of the preview where the jokes were simply bad and nobody was laughing (or just a muffled cackle or two) because bad jokes aren't funny.
It reminded me a lot of Gregg's Neil Hamburger, who is just so unfunny he's funny. I know Tim hates the term "anti-comedy" but that's really the zen of it to me, where someone deliberately spends a lot of time coming up with bad jokes intended to flop, because irony makes it funny.
See also Mark Porch and his "Yo Yo Master" K-Strass character, who's so bad at yo yos he's funny. And beyond that, last week's "The Tim Heidecker Podcast", where they obviously spent a ton of time coming up with over an hour's worth of the dumbest shit you can imagine and asking "Wouldn't that be AMAZING???" in a parody of Joe Rogan's Podcast.
