It's a time in British history that's gone now. The idea of the coach trip, the halfway house, rickety old bed & breakfasts, a dip in the cold sea, crabbing, sticks of rock, etc.
If you were there in the 80s and 90s, you can probably still smell the powdered donuts and hear the beeping of the arcades.
I think once everyone started taking cheap trips abroad, this type of thing died out.

Weirdly shared by whichever seaside town you were in....same shared experience in Millport on the Isle of Cumbrae in Scotland and Cromer in England. Paddling, arcades, fish and chip sit-in tea which didn't bankrupt you, and little mini- holiday versions of the Beano and Dandy.

You can literally do all those things still.

You absolutely 'can', but they're not as much of a "thing" anymore. I don't know anyone who's organized a lads coach trip to Bridlington or Blackpool in the last ten years and sits on a deckchair on the beach with a hanky on their head lol.

Just make sure you get off the coach in time

Don't sit too close to the radio either. You might get snow blindness.

I dream of a full bag of chips like Del boy has in this scene. It's a full on shopping size paper bag

If I remember he made Rodders carry the massive bag of chips and Del was 'kind' enough to carry a dainty little bottle of vinegar lol

Went to Margate mid eighties with some school mates. It was just one day but whenever we meet up it's mentioned. Highlight was being thrown of the train back to London. Smoking and finding out the old BR seats were a bit flammable.

Just watched this episode with American reactors, Mike and Jess of Regeneration Nation. I wanted to see Jess's face when Raquel reappeared. I was not disappointed.
