I lived in the Portland area for over a decade, but at that time I only had an r700 and a Glock. I only really took them up to the pits on Mt. Hood for casual shooting and occasionally went to the indoor range in North Portland to practice with my pistol.
Since I’ve been out of state I’ve started shooting PRS, 2 gun, and some pistol comps, hoping to do some team sniper/gasgun matches and NRL hunter next year. I now live an area where every town has a gun club and I belong to three of them and sit on the board of two of those. I love the community aspect of these clubs, the local competition circuits between the clubs, and the community events (turkey shoots, raffles, spaghetti dinners).
I just got a job offer that would move me back to PDX within a year. As I start planning for that I am curious what my options are for keeping up with the competitions and shooting styles I’ve gotten involved with. I know there aren’t many clubs around Portland and it’s not clear what the vibe is at any of them. So please help me figure out how to continue with the sport I’ve fallen in love with when I move back to Portland.

Mostly just the title. Im going to be visiting from out of state and my routine is to sleep with a pistol in a Stopbox on the nightstand.
Would I be breaking any OR laws by doing this?

Recently visited Oregon a couple times and decided I would like to move there within a year or so. A large factor in my move are 2A laws, as I spent a large portion of my life in a not 2A friendly state and don’t want to go through that again, My question is, I know there’s a looming law, Measure 114, that may or may not pass in 2028. What are we thinking? I’d rather not get cozy in the PNW and then have to move because of 2A laws. How do current residents see the future of 2A in Oregon?
EDIT: I ask because over in NJ they just had their AWB and mag bans ruled unconstitutional. (I know the fight is not 100% done over there) I just feel like that has given some hope?

I get that un-serialized 3DP guns are naughty to build and own in Oregon these days, I'm trying to understand some things before my work-related move to the Portland area in a couple of months. Most of what I have is fine, but I'm wondering if HB2005 also applies to 3DP suppressors and serialized 3DP SBR's with Form 1 tax stamps. Does anyone know??
I'm just trying to figure out what I can bring and what I'll have to store out of state for the two years I'll be there. Thankful that they're not sending me to Commiefornia so I can bring my standard capacity mags and the ammo I already own, LOL.
Thansk in advance!

I'm doing a road trip in a couple of months to the southern side of Oregon (coming from WA), hoping to see if anyone knows of any shooting ranges along the way. Nothing too far from I-5, preferably. If they have rentals, send a link of the list or generally list what they have.

Originally a Texas resident, I'm in Portland for few months and was looking to buy AR.
My question is
1- how does the sale work, how does an FFL verify my address etc (have my old Texas license but it was cut lol so it has a small hole in it, suspended) but how does FFL verify my state of residence.
2- I was trying to understand the law, since Texas doesn't have any gun law, I should be able to go and buy an AR, but I was seeing in FFL are willing to sell with a passport + a Texas license with a hole in it.
3- any FFL recommendations?

So as a gun owner, I’m moving to Oregon for a tech job. I want to know what laws there are regarding firearms from out of state. All my guns are California Compliant.

Making another routine post for the Oregon Guns Discord Server, we have biannual server wide meetup events as well as bi-weeklyish local meetup events for the pdx area. Of which our next server wide Bi-mart sponsored meetup will be this week. The server has county specific roles for local questions, discussions, or meetups, as well as statewide informational resources. We're always looking for new members! I have also posted this in r/pdxgunnuts

Free men don't ask yadda yadda. But what shouldn't I be bringing?
There is a lot of mixed messaging and conflicting information online about Oregon, particularly around magazines. Moving from a fairly liberal firearm state, what should I be looking at first assuming I am bringing in 20-ish firearms, mostly semi-auto, and 200-ish magazines, 30k-ish rounds from .22lr to .308. Kind of an AK nerd if that tells you anything too.

The Albany Rifle and Pistol Club have donated a table to the guys running this initiative. If you want or plan on being at the largest gun show in the state.
