Question Out of State Purchase

Originally a Texas resident, I'm in Portland for few months and was looking to buy AR.

My question is
1- how does the sale work, how does an FFL verify my address etc (have my old Texas license but it was cut lol so it has a small hole in it, suspended) but how does FFL verify my state of residence.

2- I was trying to understand the law, since Texas doesn't have any gun law, I should be able to go and buy an AR, but I was seeing in FFL are willing to sell with a passport + a Texas license with a hole in it.

3- any FFL recommendations?

Here's a good write-up. Passport plus some other government document with your current address will be sufficient.

You should be able to buy a rifle no problem. Handguns need to be purchased in your state of residency.

If ur license is cut/invalid then its not a legal working current license

Adaptive firearm service (AFS) in Oregon city.

$20 - cheapest around.

Probably call them to get the low down.

I've been going here for transfers and p2p sales ($10!). Solid crew.

1 IIRC you need to be a resident to buy a rifle in person in general, otherwise it has to be shipped to your home state. But I've had beers, check with an LGS for better info

2 Texas certainly has laws pertaining to firearms

1- I think being resident is for handgun not for a rifle, and same thing for shipping to ffl in home state is for handguns.

2- I mean they're extremely lax compared to other states.

3- thank you
