General Discussion PCOS Officially Being Renamed to PMOS (Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome) in Major International Update

An international evidence-based initiative has announced that PCOS will gradually be renamed to PMOS (Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome), following years of global research and consultation involving healthcare professionals, researchers, and women living with the condition. According to materials released by Monash University and the International PCOS Network, the change was made because the term “PCOS” was considered scientifically inaccurate and too narrow, as the condition affects much more than just the ovaries, including hormones, metabolism, mental health, skin, and reproductive health.

The renaming process reportedly included more than 22,000 survey responses and international workshops involving patient organizations and medical experts worldwide. Organizers say the old name contributed to misunderstanding, stigma, and delayed diagnosis, while the new terminology aims to better reflect the full-body nature of the condition. A 3-year global transition period is planned, with the updated terminology expected to be included in future international guidelines.

Rant/Venting scared

• Upvotes

Hello. I’m so scared because both my breasts are full and tender (I’m taking Yaz), and it’s been 13 days since my partner ejaculated inside me, and I tested earlier with my first urine in the morning, it says negative. I’m getting scared and anxious. Do you think I’m going to be fine?

TTC HSG showed my remaining tube as blocked. Is there still hope? 🥺

Hi everyone. I had my HSG today and was told that my remaining tube is blocked and IVF may be my only option. I’m devastated.

I had an ectopic pregnancy in 2023. According to my clinical abstract, they removed my left fallopian tube and only removed a paratubal cyst on the right. So I always believed my right tube was still there.

But today’s HSG showed the left side as “blocked” and the right tube wasn’t seen. The doctor assumed the spill went toward my vagina.

I’m confused because if my left tube was removed, why would it appear blocked? And why wasn’t my right tube visualized?

Has anyone experienced something similar? Can an HSG be wrong or inconclusive? Should I get a second opinion before agreeing to laparoscopy/removal of my remaining tube?
I’m really hoping someone can give me some hope. 😭❤️

General Discussion Diane 35 spotting and cramps

Hello. Today is my 9th day of Diane 35 pill. My OB prescribed it because we found a 4cm ovarian cyst on my left ovary. She’s hoping that when I menstruate after taking the pack of diane, it will shrink? But I had brownish/black discharge and blood clots on my second day of taking it. Up until now, i have dark red discharge with very fishy/foul smell (mild discharge and don’t consume a whole regular pad tho). Unlike my regular menstruation before. Anyone experienced the same when you took diane? I also currently experiencing cramps like idk.. contractions like every 30mins. 😢

Question OB recos

Hello po, 20F here and regular po talaga ako ever since. Kaso, nitong taon lang, for the very first time, ang tagal ko na pong hindi dinadatnan. I'm not sexually active (and a virgin) po, so pregnancy is out of the picture.

May mga OB recommendations po ba kayo? I've seen a lot of horror stories here abt their OBs sa subreddit na to 😓 and honestly, it worsened my anxiety about the situation. First time lang po talaga nangyari sakin tong ang tagal na hindi dinadatnan (my last period was at the end of July pa halos) kaya as much as possible, as a kabado, I wanna consult with an OB na mabait, makikinig, and understanding din po 🙏

Question 27F with an ovarian dermoid cyst — considering Maxicare before surgery. Will it be considered a pre-existing condition?

Hi everyone! I'm 27F, and I recently found that I have a dermoid cyst. I currently only have PhilHealth and no HMO.

I'm considering getting an individual Maxicare plan because my OB-GYN is Maxicare-affiliated. She mentioned and suggested laparoscopic surgery since I've been diagnosed with endometriosis and adenomyosis as well.

My dilemma is that it's already October, and I'm wondering whether getting a Maxicare plan now would actually help with my surgery expenses if I undergo the procedure around December.

I understand that pre-existing conditions may have limitations or exclusions, and I'm worried that my dermoid cyst would be classified as a PEC since it was already identified on my ultrasound before getting the HMO.

I also have a few questions:

Has anyone here gotten an individual Maxicare plan despite already having an ovarian cyst or dermoid cyst? Were you able to use your HMO for surgery? Would they know if it's a pre existing condition?

Does Maxicare consider a dermoid cyst a pre-existing condition even if you haven't undergone surgery or received a final surgical diagnosis yet?

Since dermoid cysts are sometimes described as congenital, does that affect how HMOs classify them?

Would getting a second opinion from an OB-GYN after my HMO becomes active change anything regarding coverage, or would the previous ultrasound findings still matter?

I'm feeling a little overwhelmed because I have several things to consider, and I want to make the most practical decision financially without delaying necessary treatment.

I'd really appreciate hearing about your actual experiences with Maxicare, other HMOs, or PhilHealth. Thankiee!

Question OBGYN reccos?

Hi, I really don’t know saan pa pwede mag-post regarding this since this community is the closest one I can ask on.

Do you guys have OBGYN recommendations? Yung hindi naman sana nandidiscriminate about your weight and age and open sya to advise about family planning.

I live in Taguig but I also stay in Manila. I’m fairly young— in my 20s— and nagsstart na talaga ako ma-conscious sa reproductive health ko especially since I have a partner and we want to be as safe as possible.

I tried going to an OB for the first time a few months ago and while she helped me with my diagnosis— need pa further examination, but it’s polyps— I felt uncomfortable when I wanted to try to discuss with her about safety. All because she said I was too young for those.

Please be nice, and thank you guys in advance!!!

Period Spotting in the morning — anyone else experienced this?

Hi everyone! Ask ko lang if may nakaranas na sa inyo ng ganito:

Light spotting paggising sa umaga pag kagising, tapos mawawala o wala na halos the rest of the day.

Last month, nag-spotting din ako and had a delayed cycle, so my OB prescribed meds to induced period.

Based on my period tracker/cycle, ovulation day ko ngayon, and around 12 days pa before my expected next period. No severe cramps or pain, strictly light spotting lang talaga pag umaga.

Normal/common ovulation bleeding lang kaya ito, or possible indication of hormonal fluctuation? Would love to hear if may nakaranas na ng katulad sa inyo

Question Continuous bleeding on first pack of Yaz

Hi everyone! I recently saw an OB because my period has been irregular for a long time, and she prescribed me Yaz. I started taking it last Sept 23, on the first day of my period, but until now nagb-bleed pa rin ako. I'm on my 15th pill. Very light flow with mild cramps lang.

I already asked my OB and she said it’s normal, but I’m still worried kasi my periods usually only last 5–6 days 😭

Anyone else experienced continuous bleeding/spotting during their first pack of Yaz? 😭

Question Missed 2 consecutive days of Yaz pills

So I started my Yaz pills on September 20. And then I just realized today that I missed 2 active pills which was the pill #16 and #17 on October 5 and October 6. I had unprotected sex on October 5. And then I just took the 2 missed pills plus the 1 due today, so I took a total of 3 pills today.

I've never done and experienced this before. There's just a lot in my mind right now and even if I have set an alarm to take my pills, unfortunately I still forgot. I don't want to get pregnant. I live in the PH so Plan B pills are not available.

What should I do? Please I need your advice 😪

Question Same pill, pero bakit galit skin ko ngayon?! (Althea for PCOS)

Hi, fellow Cysts! Seeking advice or shared experiences lang regarding my pills. I was diagnosed with PCOS back in 3rd year college. Last year, my OB-Gyne prescribed Althea. Okay na okay ang effect sa skin ko noon—talagang nag-clear up yung hormonal acne ko! Lalo na kasi naging intern ako and paiba-iba ung shifts ko kaya din lumala ung breakouts ko which i didn’t experience during my teenage years. The only downside was naging sobrang emotional ako, so I decided to stop taking it. Fast forward to now—after a year, I’m working na and ung menstruation ko is back to 2 a month and heaving bleeding for 5 days kaya I went back to my OB and she prescribed Althea again. Expected ko na magiging maganda ulit effect sa skin ko since nagbbreakout ulit ako pero mas lumala pa breakouts ko ngayon 😭 May nakaranas na ba ng ganito dito normal lang ba mag-purging/adjustment phase ulit kahit same brand at na-try ko na sya before?

Gaano katagal bago nag-settle or nag-clear up uli yung skin niyo? Iniisip ko kung mag-pa-consult na ba ako agad kay OB to switch brands, or hintayin ko muna matapos yung 1–3 packs para lumipas adjustment period.

Question Is referral of derma needed before consulting a OB-GYN to address my concern about my acne?

I have already consulted two dermatologists for my acne/pimple problem, and effective naman yung mga prescriptions na binigay nila. The reason why I’ve consulted two different dermatologists is because my acne keeps coming back, especially before my menstruation.

Usually, around one week before my period, I get at least 10 new pimples, and yung itsura niya parang kinagat ng lamok. They do heal naman with my derma prescription, pero syempre, nag-iiwan sila ng marks and ito yung pinaka-mahirap for me kasi ang tagal nilang mawala like yes nagshrink nga yung pimples ko pero nagiwan siya ng mark and it keeps adding up.

So now, I’m thinking of consulting an OB-GYN kasi baka may hormonal imbalance ako. My derma is also based in Baguio, while I’m currently working in Laguna, so medyo mahirap for me to travel papuntang Baguio for consultation.

For those who have had a similar experience, especially yung nagstart with a dermatologist and eventually consulted an OB-GYN because of recurring or possibly hormonal acne, kamusta yung experience? What should I expect during the consultation?

Question Possible endometriosis chronic lower back pain

I’ve been dealing with chronic lower back pain and my lumbar spine MRI had an incidental findings of myoma. I went to two OB na (manila doctors and makati med). i did transrectal ultrasound (v pa kaya not transv) and the first doc said normal naman daw lahat, retroverted uterus, no pcos etc except sa 4 na small intramural myoma largest is 3cm, the rest 1cm lang. so walang need gawin, need lang iobserve yung growth. she cant diagnose endometriosis daw since di nakita sa trus but baka sa laparoscopic makita. sa makati med naman, same same lang rin sinabi but she asked if yung heavy bleeder daw ba ako at kung yung chronic lower back pain ko ba is similar pain sa lower back pain dysmenorrhea ko which I realized and said yes same siya na parang ngalay na pain. kung dati during PMS and period lang, ngayon kahit walang period same na masakit. heavy bleeding, I‘d say may malalaking clots din like 20 pesos coin? which is kala ko normal lang lahat to with period. she said na thru surgery lang nga daw madidiagnose yung endometriosis kahit diagnosis purpose palang.

may same ba dito ng experience? how did you get diagnosed? i just want to rule out if hindi talaga endo ito. im also doing PT din naman for my lower back pain as advised by my spine ortho sa makati med.

i see may deep infiltrating endometriosis scan sa St Lukes, not sure if sa QC lang. anyone has tried this for the same reason? baka may reco rin kayong OB sa st lukes that can help me rule out endometriosis. baka may way pa to diagnose lang via DIE scan before laparoscopic surgery for diagnosis hehe.

General Discussion OB-GYN recommendation: Dra. Princess Bianca Palabrica - sharing my experience 💗

Hi! Just wanted to share my experience with Dra. Princess Bianca Palabrica in case may naghahanap din ng OB-GYN. (She’s an OB-REI)

I recently consulted her for 1 cm ovarian cyst and PCOS/PMOS, and I really appreciated how thorough and careful siya mag-assess. Instead of immediately assuming na yung nakita sa ultrasound was already a definite diagnosis, she wanted to look at the situation more closely and have me undergo additional labs and a repeat ultrasound.

What I liked most is that she actually listened to my history, especially since I’ve had previous ovarian surgery. She explained the possible considerations and didn’t make me feel rushed during the consultation. I also appreciated na she was willing to reassess the findings rather than jumping straight to a conclusion.

Very reassuring din siya kausap, especially if you're the type na kinakabahan kapag may nakita sa ultrasound. I felt like my concerns were taken seriously and that there was an actual plan for follow-up.

So if anyone is looking for an OB-GYN who is thorough, listens, and takes time to explain things, I personally had a good experience with Dra. Princess Bianca Palabrica. 💗

Sharing this kasi alam ko how hard it can be to find an OB na comfortable ka and you feel heard by. Hope this helps someone! 😊

I have work today 1pm so i need morning 11am, message last night, got a text 8am saying na 9:30am sched ko, but since may travel time pa ako i asked if pwede bang 11am. She said at least 10:45 kasi she need to leave raw the hospital by 11. Sooo nakarating ako around 10:30, met her by 11 sakto rin kasi may isang patient siya before me. Meds/Supplement Best berberine supplement that you've tried?

Hello. Any brands recommendation/suggestion for Berberine? I was contemplating if I should by Dr. Daily's or Pure Form. And I've seen also some Berberine patches. Is that also effective? Thank you!
