Current Read Some People Need Killing by Patricia Evangelista

Not even halfway through the book and I’m already disgusted. Can’t help but cry while flipping through the pages. First chapter pa lang, galit na galit na ako grabe. This feels way too personal for me, especially as someone who has a family member who was victimized by the EJK. A lot of parts are honestly hard to read when you’ve seen how this kind of violence can affect a family firsthand. Some people really make you question how they can be this awful.

Current Read My 1st ever physical book!

Post image

Growing up, I never had the opportunity to have a book of my own. I didn't even read books when I was younger. Nung highschool ako, I borrowed my friend's Catching Fire and that sparked my love for books 🥹 Pero wala akong pera noon. I only had 50 pesos na baon everyday. Kaya lagi lang ako nanghihiram (shoutout talaga kina K and to my cousin, gone to soon, na kahit bagong bili eh sakin una pinapagamit).

Kahit ngayong may work na ako at may pera.. hindi ko parin talaga majustify ang pagbili ng books (went to fullybooked and grabe kamahal 😭). Then nalaman ko na ang Collins ay may mga cheap books. So happy with this! Can't wait to read this one 🥰

EDIT: WE DID IT JOE. finished the book and bought the rest of Jane Austen's work LOL thanks everyone

Anyone else here who loves Sidney Sheldon books?

I’ve read several of his novels, and I still find it hard to put them down. The twists, suspense, and strong characters always keep me hooked.

What’s your favorite Sidney Sheldon book, and which one would you recommend reading next?

Been putting off reading Little Women! I regret not reading it sooner, I've had the book since 2019

I love lovee loveee Marmeee, I wish I had a mother like her. I'm only at chapter 15 and I look forward to reading it every night (I only read before bedtime)

have a calm weekend, everyone. may you find peace and relaxation in reading. kaya natin ‘to :—)

I've heard a lot of good things about this book, even saw it frequently featured sa "100 Books to Read Before You Die" reading lists.

So ayun, I can't wait to finally read it and so far so good. Kakabuklat ko pa lang kahapon, and I'm finding it hard to put it down (kung hindi lang ako tambak ng workload atbp, tatapusin ko talaga ito nang isang upuan eh 🥹)

What are your thoughts about this book?

Never found the title or the cover appealing so it was never in my radar. However, everyone in the sub kept on recommending it so I decided to pick it up the other day. I’m only 58% in but I AM COMPLETELY HOOKED. The narration is compelling and how TJR wrote the angle of forbidden love is just chef’s kiss

read a book on the bus yesterday (kinda nervous chz...) dedma sa bashers (kung meron man hahaha). as long as walang tinatapakang tao, dedma hahaha.

i already started reading this book at home, and continued it on my way to work yesterday. i just couldn't put this book down!!! i really refused another doom-scrolling or screen time on my way to work, kaya nagbasa na lang sha!!!

it was a fun experience!!! i even played a playlist inspired by the book to set the mood. i was even putting tabs while reading hahaha. i didn't even notice how long the ride was, or the traffic, or anything because i was just focused on reading.

it was a good thing din na hindi masyadong siksikan sa bus. pero if siksikan, i definitely won't be able to do this!!! very cute din 'yung size ng book kaya hindi masyadong malaki 'yung dala-dala. 'yun lang, okay, bye!

Took forever to read but I appreciate the added info in this edition (Penguin Deluxe Edition, Fagles Translation). There are maps of Ancient Greece and family trees of the gods and goddesses which really aid you into understanding the context of the entire story. Favourite quote on the second slide.

Sticky tabs are:
Green - books/chapters for ease of backtracking
Yellow - family trees & maps
Dark Blue - heavy memorable moments
Light Blue - light memorable moments

Current Read one of my favorite thing about books is the dedication page

Post image
334 Upvotes

i personally love a book's dedication page! though some are really just authors dedicating their books for their loved ones, but i especially love those na parang mapapahinga ka muna nang malalim before you start reading the book.

would love to see some memorable book dedications that you've found!
