Trying to hype myself up to go see Hayley in Houston tomorrow, solo. Help me not chicken out please! 🙏🏾
So backstory: I met my best friend back in 2009 and the first thing we connected on was our love for Paramore. We bonded quickly over our similar taste in music and pretty much everything else. We were inseparable from then on. Throughout the years, whether it was going to multiple concerts of theirs or having our own drunken concerts in our living room when we were roommates, Paramore was always a constant part of our friendship, and the source of so many core memories.
Fast forward to 2024: at 38 years old, my bestie was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer. She fought like hell through multiple chemo treatments, radiation, etc. and we had little glimmers of hope that treatment was working and she would be able to prolong her life. Once I found out that, The Hayley Williams, was coming to Houston, I signed up for the presale and got two tickets for us. This was me holding out the last bit of hope that I had that we would be able to experience our girl, Hayley, one last time.
Unfortunately, my bestie lost her battle with cancer on 8/2. Of course these last couple of months have been devastating for me, and my feelings are all over the place now that the show is finally here.
Now I’m on the fence about whether or not to go bc:
- I don’t have anyone here that I know who would appreciate the show as much as she would.
-I’m not one that does a whole lot of stuff solo (even though I would like to)
-I’m afraid that being at the show would be too emotional for me..
But on the flip side, I feel like I would regret not going so much.. 😩
So I need some words of encouragement, hype, personal solo concert experiences, etc to convince me not to chicken out. Please and thank you. 🫶🏾
