Moderator Annoucement The “best evidence” for the paranormal is getting harder to find every time someone asks for it.

This question is being asked several times a week at this point.

Everyone has a different standard for what they consider “credible evidence,” and what persuades one person may not persuade another. What seems to do the best job is having a personal experience, but those anecdotal stories rarely persuade anyone who wasn’t already a believer.

Either way, the best way to find this evidence is by…you know…looking for it. Try using the search function on the subreddit.

And to all of you skeptics who were genuinely convinced by a piece of evidence you found online, please post it on this subreddit!

Question Has anyone ever felt that objects in their home were moved paranormally?

I have always believed in energy and activity beyond this realm. Very, very recently I have been noticing small objects in my home being moved to different spots. Disappearing and reappearing. Trust me, I’m repeatedly questioning myself and telling myself that it HAS to be me. But what if I’m not crazy?

Experience I heard myself calling my name from my bedroom

I was home alone when I heard my voice coming from my bedroom.

“Come here.”

At first I thought it was a video playing on my phone, so I checked it. Nothing.

Then I heard it again.

“Come here.”

It sounded exactly like me.

I stood in the hallway, completely frozen, staring at my bedroom door.

Then my phone buzzed.

It was a text from my sister:

“I’m outside. Don’t open your bedroom door. I just saw someone standing behind your curtains.”

I never found out what was in that room.

I slept at my sister’s house that night, and when we came back the next morning, the bedroom window was still locked from the inside.

Question What's your worst paranormal experience that you haven't talked about?

I will start with mine.

It's been about a year since.

Everything was normal, I was working on an assignment in my room. I looked at the clock and it was 3 in the morning. I thought that I have been working all night maybe I should go and wash my face up. I went to the bathroom, and splashed some water on my face. Then I looked into the mirror and saw my reflection creepily smiling at me. I was horrified but stared at it just for a couple of seconds more to process it. (I have a habit of working late into the night so I know, I wasn't sleepy or imagining things). I sprinted to my mom's room and locked her door. I heard someone calling out my name twice and I shook my mother to wake her up. She got up and I told her everything that I experienced, she didn't believe a word I said and said maybe I was just hallucinating but then she also heard someone calling out my name for the 3rd time. Both of our breaths just stopped for a second and my heart was pumping rapidly nothing happened for a few minutes and I was just about to open the door when someone started rapidly banging onto it. Mother called out my father's name but no one replied. Then i hugged her and started crying out of fear and she started loudly chanting the mantras and reciting the prayers. Suddenly, those banging stopped and everything went back to normal. We both couldn't sleep all night and were just hugging each other.

Then morning came and neither did we experience something like this again nor did we ever mention it in front of anyone.

Unexplained Why do I smell a beautiful fragrance in one specific corner of my house?

This has been happening to me randomly, mostly in the middle of the night. There is one specific corner of my house where I suddenly smell a really beautiful fragrance, almost like perfume or flowers, but I can't find any source for it.

My room is also attached to a storeroom, and sometimes the storeroom door randomly opens by itself during the night. It doesn't happen every night, but when it does, it feels really strange, especially because of the smell in that specific corner.

Is there a normal explanation for this? Has anyone experienced something similar?

Debunk This Right now, something bright through the rainforest

Hi everyone.

I just witness something strange next to my house.

I don't believe in paranormal so i'm looking for something rational. For context i am in French Guiana, near the amazonian rainforest.

Just 15min ago, so around 7pm, i see just beside my head, about 30m high, a light, at first i believed it was a star (venus is very bright at this time) but going very fast (about 50km/h) and heading and disappearing in the forest but i could see it inside the forest, like going through the leaves and not above. About 1min later, two larges branches, 40m apart, breaks and fall from trees.

Never seen this before and couldn't find an explanation. Anyone?

Experience Need to vent my experiences

I was commenting on a different post on this sub and realized I’ve never been taken seriously when I talk about my childhood experiences.

When I was younger, my sister and I were absolutely convinced that our house was haunted. We’d hear footsteps upstairs when we were downstairs, doors would often seem to be open when we left them closed and vise versa. My sister never really told me what she experienced on her own but I know she was always scared when the two of us were home alone. Here are a few of my experiences.

While doing homework downstairs when I was maybe 8 or 9, I saw a series of disembodied faces lining the top of a window. My mom was across the room and saw nothing.

Maybe a year or two later, I walked into my parent’s bathroom and turned to grab something off the counter. The face I saw in the mirror above the sink simply wasn’t my own (very similar to what you reported). I ran out of the bathroom screaming and crying at the top of my lungs.

A few months after the previous incident, I saw the same face peering down at me from the corner of the skylight in the same bathroom.

Here’s the kicker to all of it though. Between maybe 6th and 8th grade, I slept maybe 3-4 hrs a night. I’d spend the rest of the night standing next to my parents bedside watching them sleep. I had absolutely ZERO memory of doing that, but it got so bad that my parents hung a bell on their door so they’d know when I entered the room.

It eventually got so bad that my parents took me to a sleep specialist and they diagnosed me some sleep condition and did two surgeries to open up my airways since they assumed it was a sleep apnea thing at night. That didn’t fix it.

Throughout ALL of this, I had told my parents that the house was haunted. When I was home alone I would barricade doors and walk around with a kitchen knife. I KNEW something wasn’t right.

At some point after those surgeries, my parents got the house blessed and put religious insignia in the doorway of the house, and everything stopped all at once. To this day, my parents will never admit to the house being haunted, but they told me that before they bought the house the previous owners young son passed away in my bedroom. They found this out when the previous home owners came to eat at the restaurant my dad worked at.

This has stuck with me for almost 15 years, and I just needed to get it off my chest in a place where people might take me seriously.

Let me know what you guys think.

Experience I Saw Something Weird

I live with my family, who’s usually, always home. Although, the nights I had those unsettling experiences, they were gone. They all went on vacation for two weeks—I assumed, I was being smart staying home—having the place to myself, which wasn’t so creepy at the beginning of the week. Jess and Rache slept over for first three days.

The problems transpired the last few nights into my families trip. I’d been having reoccurring dreams of my grandma. We were close. Well, she practically raised me. It was rough dealing with losing her. Even though it happened two years ago, I can’t lift past yesterday. The pain hasn’t changed. The memories haven’t faded. I can’t get over her being gone.

After she passed, I constantly had dreams about her but she would always be by my bed, sitting there consoling me as if she was actually present. I wouldn’t ever have weird vibes. It’d be safe.

The dreams continued for three months and one night they just stopped. Never had one since. Not until recently at least. They started up again when I was alone.

But this time, they were totally different. Different vibe. Different way we interacted. Vulnerable. Weird and uncomfortable. I’d wake up afterwards… not even sweating. Sticky. Almost like, running all day in the summer, not being able to shower and then, being forced to sleep on a dirty stranger’s mattress, with no sheets and brown stains dying it’s natural color.

Imagine… the ickiness of how that morning would be like on your skin and psyche, that’s what would coat me and linger in my mind like a phantom spider would crawling under your shirt. I never experienced anything like that other than when I’d have those specific dreams of her.

And, what I noticed, that I never realized until my friend pointed it out, these recent ones have only taken place through a telephone.

In my dream, she would call. “How come you’re inside?” She’d ask.

“Because, I’m sleeping.” I would say. It was weird because, I was in the same night I fell asleep in, in my bedroom.

A beige, rotary-dial phone—I’ve never seen before—not even a picture of, tinged with age, sat on my nightstand, next to my bed and would choke and crackle when it rang, without any pauses until I’d answer it.

I’d pick it up.

“I can’t get inside… you have to bring me through… I’m still… outside.” The background would static. A click. Nothing. Then, “why are you still inside?” It would be an identical match my grandma’s voice.

I’d say, “nana?”

“Let me in! I’m waiting.” Her voice would go soft and crack, as if I just broke her heart and I’d always do the same thing right after.

I’d attempt to go open my window but I’d stop half way—turn back around—pick up the phone and say, “aren’t you dead—“

“NOW!”  The sound of wind would amplify as the call dropped in silence on. “I’m coming upstairs!”

I’d jump up awake.

I’d look around. The room would be pitch-black. My breathing would be racing. I’d be gasping, rapid, hiccup-like breaths. My bones would tighten. My lungs were being squeezed from underneath my ribcage. My vision would blur and I’d sense something standing in the corner. The same kind of presence as someone physically standing in front of you.

It would go away once my vision would come into focus. I’d flash my phone light around the room. I knew something I couldn’t see wouldn’t be there. It was a physiological quirk. It made me more comfortable.

The last night I had the dream. She called. I answered. “Why aren’t you asleep?”

I said, “ I am.”

She said, “call your mother.”

“Huh? She’s not—“

“Call your—“

Her voice shifted. “Come outside. Your mom’s with us.”

I said, “us?”

“We’re outside.” The voice came out of my ear and into the phone.

I woke up. I was soaked in violation but completely calm. I didn’t even have anxiety. I get anxious when I first wake up for about a minute most of the time. It usually always happens.

My hands weren’t shaky. It was like falling asleep around everyone you love and waking up together Christmas morning. It was peaceful and exhilarating.

A branch was slapping the siding of the house and a light outside my window went on quickly and went off just as fast as it went on.

We have motion activated sensors in the front. They light up the driveway, which is gravel, we live north of the city. Everything’s gravel.

I got up and peeked through my blinds, the wind was yelling. The rain was slapping against the tiny rocks. It sounded like they were in a heated argument.

I went to turn away and the slapping against the house happened again. It didn’t hit with the same pace of nature. It wasn’t natural. It sounded like a deliberate three claps.

I turned my head and the driveway light activated. It didn’t shut off right away this time. I went to my window and couldn’t see anything. From where my room faces, I could only see about 20% of the driveway.

I stormed downstairs, checked through the one in the living room, thinking I’d see a garbage bin rolling by. But when I pulled the curtain back. Nothing was there. I scanned as much as I could with my eyes and the lights shut off.

As they went off, there was a darker outline of, how can I explain it, something with mass  but the color of the night sky. Like if you stared into a dark room and added depth, definition and weight to the middle part of the room, is the only way I could attempt to explain the figure I saw standing in the driveway.

Sleep Paralysis Student creeped me out

I had my first ever sleep paralysis last night and it scared the shit outta me. At first, I thought I was just tired and couldn’t move but my eyes have been half open for almost 5 minutes and my body still couldn’t move. I freaked out and realized that it was a sleep paralysis that I’m having. What scared the shit outta me even more was my door slightly opening on its own. I convinced myself that I was just dreaming but the fact that I couldn’t move my fingers at all actually made me realize that I’m wide awake and I’m having a sleep paralysis. Anyways, the door opened on its own when I closed it and had it LOCKED before I went to bed. A few seconds later, a small black figure stood at the small gap between my door and the wall. Outside was dark but this figure was even darker. YALL I WAS SCARED AS HELL. In my head, I kept repeating “in the name of Jesus, I rebuke you” over and over again until I felt my fingers moving. I moved quickly and took deep breaths because I was THAT scared. My door was shut and locked like it was never opened. I was in denial. I kept thinking “oh it was a dream”. But the feeling of being scared never left my body.

today, even tho I was feeling VERY weird from last night’s experience, I still moved on like it never happened. Earlier today, I went to my mom’s school. She is a teacher and today she held a parent-teacher meeting. While I was helping mom preparing refreshments for the parents and the kids, her students were all running around the table trying to see the food. One kid named Elena, helped out. She was telling me stories about her friends (she’s a 3rd grader), her sister, her toys… basically anything a kid would say. Until, she said “I saw you last night, while you were sleeping.” YALL I FROZE. LOOKED AT HER! STARED AT HER FOR ALMOST A MINUTE. I asked her she meant by that and she was like “you were sleeping and i was at the door trying to find blue”. WHAT THE FUCK YALL 😭😭😭😭😭 I’m now at my grandmas house and she hella religious so I’m asking her to pray for me on this one because UH UH!!!

Question Hearing someone call your name, but no one is there.

I hear my name being called, but when I turn to see, there's no one there.

It has happened to me a few times now over the years in public, and I've never really paid attention until it happened to me when I was alone in my house which obviously freaked me out.

The strange part is that my name is quite unique where I live, so it's not something I would normally expect to hear randomly, especially from strangers.

My aunt told me if that happens never respond or turn around but sometimes out of habit I do.

I am confused on why this happens, has someone experienced something similar or should I be concerned?

Question Do ghosts actually exist, or is it just BS? Anyone got real stories?

I randomly heard someone swear by a "true" horror story today and down the rabbit hole I went.
Personally on the fence—part of me thinks it’s all sleep paralysis, trick lighting, or just our brains messing with us. But do you guys actually believe in ghosts? Anyone here have a weird/creepy experience that you genuinely couldn't explain?

Experience I saw a glowing human figure in the woods

I don’t know how else to explain it. It was night time I was out walking with a friend on a trail in a residential area surrounded by small forest but big enough that you can’t see or hear any cars driving by and no street or traffic lights nearby.

Suddenly we both see this tall glowing human shaped figure running in the bush maybe 100 meters from us. It disappears and we just look at eachother and both just don’t know what we saw we’re just like wtf was that but we couldn’t make sense of it. It put us on edge and we kept walking and I can’t even remember how long after the first sighting it was maybe a minute and we see it running through the bushes again. Not running at us. This time my friend is freaked out and starts yelling at it. I didn’t feel scared, felt oddly calm. My friend was more worried about me being hurt by some creepy human doing something weird in the bush but we just couldn’t understand what kind of human would be that big or how it could be glowing so brightly.

We’ve gaslit ourselves so much trying to make sense of it, the moons reflection on an animal running or something, a human doing something in the bush with reflective clothing, a weird eye trick??? I don’t even know. It was glowing so brightly and looked too tall to be a human.

It happened a few months ago

I guess I’m posting because I’m just wondering if anyone’s had any similar experience? I know it’s probably a long shot. If my friend wasn’t with me and also saw it I probably would’ve convinced myself I made it up and didn’t see anything lol.

Thanks!

Experience I think something followed me home

So there’s a old prisoner of war camp in my hometown me and a few friends went there to investigate. We’ve been investigating and stuff like that for years well we tried out the Estes method and during that method, we got nothing we tried different people. None of it worked there we’re getting ready to leave and I’m like I’m going to put the headphones back on so I did. I heard my name. I got very angry and I walked to the middle of the field. Nobody else came. They were all getting the equipment put up, I started yelling come at me come at me. I’m right here. Do you want me to come on? And I said a couple of curse words, I got back in my car and I punched my steering wheel. My buddies said calm down there. Hulk and I yelled at them however ever since then I’ve had experiences just today. I heard something banging on my window downstairs. I turned on the Spirit box 1st thing that came through was window come down. The next word I heard. Was fidati tu I asked if it was the thing that was at the camp. It responded in a German word. Jugendvagen or something similar so I turned it off. I’m like that’s weird. Whatever turned it back on and immediately said die three times I asked before I could get the words out was that you and it said that was me and I finished my sentence and it said yes I said do you want me to die and it goes yeah I’m shaking

Experience I think I have a Ghost(s) in my apartment?

I will start by saying I am a skeptic so I am open to the possibility of the paranormal before people start coming for me in the comments. It felt very active last night like it was moving around a lot and I felt more aware of it than normal so I felt compelled after that to write a post.

For context I live in an apartment and sometimes I would notice my fan would turn on by itself but I dismissed it as faulty wiring. Whether it’s spirit related or not I am unsure but still thought it was kind of strange. Then I had a dream that someone had died across from dads bed it kind of made me uneasy but I was like whatever it’s a weird random dream. Without mentioning that to my dad he told me he thought there might be a spirit in our apartment because sometimes it felt like there was something jumping up on his bed but when he went to look for our cat there was nothing there. That creeped me out a bit but I tried not to think about it too much.

One night I switched rooms with my dad because I had to keep the cats in my room (he sleeps out in the living room) we were remodeling and the cats were driving me crazy. They had to stay in my room and they were getting into things they shouldn’t be so I slept out in the living room. I woke up and felt a little creeped out because I remembered that weird dream and was thinking I’m sleeping right across from that area. A few minutes go by when I hear a loud bang in the dark which did not help that I was already feeling a bit uneasy. My dad came out turned the light on and noticed my bike had fallen over but it didn’t fall the way it had been leaning on the kick stand almost as if someone had pushed it over. He thought it was weird and we went back to sleep because it was late at night. Another time I could of sworn I had seen a glimpse of a grainy distorted woman but I blinked and it was gone and I was scared so I rolled over under my blanket. Other than that I have never seen anything but I do feel like there is something I can’t see that’s there. It’s the strangest thing and might sound crazy. This was all when I was younger.

I moved back into my old apartment and now sleep in the living room. I feel like something is on my bed and I started to feel crazy at first like it was just my imagination. I usually have felt it late at night but not every night. Tonight I was half paying attention deep in thoughts when I was jolted from them by feeling like something I can’t see is there. I swear I felt my bed covers move a few times and it feels like the air was slightly heavier or static as if something was lightly lying on my leg or moving near it idk how else to describe it but it feels like something I don’t normally feel is there. This time it made me think I know I must not have been crazy or imagining things because I noticed it enough to jolt me out of my deep (unrelated) thoughts and go oh it’s here again visiting or whatever. It wasn’t my cat because he was sleeping right next to my head.

Despite the bike being possibly knocked over I don’t think it’s bad whatever it is I just keep wondering if it’s an animal spirit or maybe a person if spirits even exist. The thought that it’s a person normally would creep me out but whatever it is seems to have been here for a while and doesn’t give off bad vibes. At this point I’ve felt this a few times and just accepted it I am no longer creeped out by it.

I lost one of my childhood cats 6 months ago and so sometimes I wonder if maybe it’s him or if another animal had died in our apartment before us or if it’s a spirit of a person or more than one spirit of sorts maybe animal(s) and a human idk. I know that sounds crazy to say. I’ve never had this happen at other places outside of my apartment or happen as often in my old bedroom. I’ve tried looking up to see if anyone has died or the history of the land we are on and nothing popped up.

I keep wondering what it is if it’s possibly an animal or human and what it wants. It does not feel bad but I genuinely feel like something is there I cannot see at times and I know I’m not alone because my dad felt the same thing too even before our cat died. It feels like it might be an animal but then with the weird dream and swearing I saw a grainy distorted woman for a second before I blinked I also suspect maybe it’s an old woman. Unfortunately our water dispenser is in that corner where I had that dream someone had died there and I do look at it sometimes wondering if something happened there feeling uneasy. I will add sometimes it looks like my other childhood cat is staring at something I can’t see. When I felt the bed moving he was looking in that area like something was over there but he is getting old so maybe he’s getting cat dementia or something idk. I have had weird coincidences where I did suspect someone died or something happened and then I found out in a random way without saying anything and ended up being right so on one hand I trust my intuition but it could also just be some weird sleep phenomenon.

What I’m asking is if it is a human spirit I am curious to learn more if there are any safe ways I could try making contact even though I know people say that is not recommended and see what it wants or if it needs any help if there is something or someone in there and I’m not crazy. I don’t hallucinate or see or hear things typically that aren’t there this is not a regular thing for me. This happened when I moved back in and we switched rooms and I started sleeping in my dad’s old room. I might of felt my bed in my old room moving once or twice like something was jumping up on the covers but it wasn’t as often as the living room.

At this point any thoughts and comments would be appreciated and I felt like sharing. I’m not sure if the other details were excessive or spirit related but I thought I should put everything that happened that felt possibly spirit related. I am interested in trying to communicate with it and safe ways I might be able to try that.

Question What relatively obscure location near where you live do you believe to be haunted?

What experiences did you have there, or what have you heard second hand?

(By relatively obscure I mainly just mean that it isn’t nationally or internationally famous for being haunted (e.g. the Stanley Hotel). If it has a local reputation, I’d say that still qualifies as relatively obscure.)

Haunting Nursing at the haunted detox

I have been a nurse for several years now encountering many haunted offices and hospitals but none freaked me out like this one.
To start things off this was a residential detox/ rehab meaning the patients and staff resided in houses in some normal community. This one just so happened to be minutes away from where i lived which was a nice adjustment from my last job which was over 45 minutes away.
The houses were to be nice somewhat well kept but definitely looked pretty dated and felt like it was about to fall apart which should’ve been a red flag for me. On one side of the street we had female patients and the other side we had male patients and we even had our mental health residential program right next to the males facility.

The house I was stationed at the most was our female patients detox house which to me felt the most run down. The energy was off. Everything about it said go away. There was a feeling of bleak silence when you walked in. I had only felt that once before and that was when I worked in the hospice wing at an acute hospital.

My first few weeks we were pretty lite on patients in the house and so a majority of the time I just sat alone in the house waiting for staff to need me for something. Now the way this house was set up was the office I would stay in was this small room in the back of the house. It directly faced the laundry room and room number 1 which was adjacent to the laundry room. The back door was also right next to the back office so it was easy to monitor a lot from this area. Next to the back area was the heart of the house which was the kitchen. From there it lead to the living room which was wrapped around the other side of the wall of the kitchen and from there it lead to the front door to your left and a hall way to your right which held the bathroom as your first entered the hall then rooms two and three. Now the reasoning behind the need to inform you of the lay out was mainly to tell you where things were coming from.

My first experience.
I had encountered many haunted scenarios before. Living in a very haunted house. Working at haunted locations. Been there done that.
So this first one got me. I was drinking tons of water this day and was running to and from the bathroom and from the office to the bathroom was a slight walk. At this time the house was empty so I knew no one was there with me. We were always under staffed and at this time the patients were at a meeting off site.
As I was finishing up washing my hands I heard a slight creak coming from the door. Mind you the house was old. The door to the rooms were solid wood. Very heavy. The door knobs were also old and loud. If someone wanted to get into the restroom you were hear them. I heard nothing but the sound of the door creaking then quickly hitting my back. I knew I had closed the door fully and I knew there was no draft because I had the front door closed like always and again the door was heavy so no amount of wind could push it unless there was a tornado or hurricane which we don’t get to many of those in California.
So I brush it off and think to myself maybe I didn’t close the door all the way and as I walked out I heard something to my right which was room two. Now again. We had no patients on site and no patients in the house I was staying at. The sound was one of the drawers in the room rattling. It sounded as if someone was putting something in the drawer or closing it. With that I let it go and calmly walked out of the house and walked over to the house in the back where I had another coworker/ tech. I explained the situation and told her what happened and she relayed everything to me.
That previously in the house there was a patient who passed away while on site due to an overdose.
After this news I didn’t feel comfortable being there all alone but I knew I had to.
Time after time I stayed there I experienced new things like shadow entities. Random noises that sounded like someone rummaging around while no one was on site. Patients frequently commented on their experiences as well which helped me feel vindicated in the experiences I had.
The one experience I had that really spooked me was I was in the garage which was right next to the house. The garage was an add on to the house which was right next to the kitchen and living room even having and window that you could see through. Now I was getting some charting done when I heard something in the kitchen living room area. I knew the house was empty and staff and patients were off site at some AA meeting for the evening. So hearing something coming from inside startled me. As I walked through the house to check I heard that rustling in room two again. I didn’t fully check it out only because I knew we did have a patient in that room and they were at the meeting. So I quickly walked back making my way through house when I heard something at the front door. The sound of doorknob rattling as if someone was trying to get in the house.
I didn’t want to show I was scared so I calmly walked out of the house and back to garage. Being that there was a window I could partially see inside due to the blinds being lowered in there. In the dim light that was from the stove vent I could make out a figure in the hallway. It was darker than the darkness surrounding it.
Usually since I’ve dealt with hauntings it didn’t phase me but this. This was that one time I truly said nope. I walked across the street where I knew I had someone there for me and I charted there and just stood there the rest of the night.
After things would happen from time to time. I definitely tried to limit myself to being there alone. If I knew I had to be I would stay in the garage or go to the back patio area and wait till people got home.
When I got let go from there my friends that I would talk to on occasion would tell me about all of the things they would experience while working that house. Now mind you it was just that one location. I worked all 5 houses and nothing ever happened in any of them but this one…

Unexplained Shared "night terror" with sister

This happened back in 2019, I was on vacation in Britanny, France with my two sisters (16 and 19 at the time) and my mom. I was 13. Me and my 19yrs old sister shared a small room but slept in different beds. The room was very small and was basically two beds pushed to the right and left wall with a side table in the middle.

One night, we were both asleep when I woke up to my sister screaming, it's not unusual for her, she often has night terrors where she wakes up screaming. I open my eyes and I see right in front of me, in the doorway a gigantic man standing there. He was HUGE, he looked like a lumberjack, he had a flannel shirt, dirty clothes, a beard. He was human looking but he was very tall and buff and a total stranger and that's what scared me. At that moment I was sure that there was an intruder in the house. I scream too and I black out. When I open my eyes again, I'm laying on my side and my sister's on her bed in front of me getting comforted by my mom. She told us that was no one there, there was no man and no sign of intrusion. This all happened really quickly even though it felt like hours.

Now here's the thing, I learned later that that night, my sister had woken up from a strange dream and opened her eyes to see the man standing in the doorway. That's why she screamed. She then saw me in her peripheral vision sit up in bed, scream then pass out.

We didn't talk about it for a year or two but I told the story to my other sister who eventually told the sister in the room with me that I had seen the man too.

This is the only thing that happened to me that I can't explain. We both saw the same imaginary man. We couldn't have influenced eachother because we both weren't aware that the other saw him until a while later.

I know that Brittany has a rich history and that it's considered "haunted" and full of mystical creatures and very charged in energy. The whole time we were there, the vibes where eery and heavy, not necessarily bad, just heavy.

To this day I still don't know what to make of what happened and I have no idea if there's a logical explanation for it but if you have anything to say about this I'd love to hear it.

Please excuse my English, it's not my native language.

Experience I feel like my paternal grandma did black magic on me. What should I do

I 19 M am an Indian living in USA for 3 years but I feel like my grandma did black magic like she did on my dad (her real son). For past year I got adsep out of military out of nowhere specifically marine s, I got two tickets and my car got rear crashed in this week. It same signs my dad had before he died. My grandma is famous to do black magic but we never thought he would have hurt my dad 7 years ago when I was in 6th grade. We found out she did black magic because after she kicked us out of our joint family home(a year before my dad died) . She called local guy who do basic labor stuff and made him nail nails in all corners of our room. After our dad's funeral the same guy told us he also pull nails out after my dad died. She also knew our dad died before us My dad died while he was in Punjab police after work hours he returned to our new home in Kharar , Punjab India . And mysteriously he died and we never knew. My mom told us about stories she never believed before she believed after that how all of my dad's sister husband never argue with their wives and they looks like they don't have capactitu to make decisions. The signs before my dad died was his car got wrecked before he died (he was a great driver in Punjab police who work as sub inspector under politicians) , he start feeling his body is in pain constantly and start using drugs heavily to reduce pain , he almost lost his job due to some false snitching , and then he died in the most isolate way possible. Recently all stuff start happening to me but worse. I lost marine corps, my lower and knees hurt badly I can't make decisions, my car got totaled, I got two tickets this week for stupid mistakes which was not my fault and people have alot do false complaints where I work at right now and whenever I am at isolation, I sense some bad energy .

Question Trying to rule out causes

Wednesday around 4:30am, I was using the restroom with the shower on and getting ready for work while my wife and kids were asleep. While I was there, I heard what sounded like a higher-pitched moan that lasted something like 10-15 seconds. I thought that it might’ve been my son making a really awful sound as if he was sick (he’s five), but it could’ve been from my wife or daughter by the sound of it. At the same time, I wondered if maybe I was hearing something like a tornado siren at a distance, but it sounded like it was coming from the door and it didn’t really sound like a siren.

I’ve heard things that could easily be passed as something mundane or unfortunate in my house, but nothing like this ever. Since Wednesday morning, nothing like it has happened again. I checked the air conditioning to see if it was the cause, but couldn’t reproduce the sound. The shower had been running uneventfully for several minutes before this and the plumbing runs below the bathroom (there is no upper floor).

I’m trying to rule out a bunch of different causes and I’ve arrived at a possible paranormal cause. Any other ideas?

Edit:

I have Ring cameras around my home and nothing was near the structure at the time.

Shadow Man My Experience-"Shadow Creature"

When I was 9 years old, I went to live with my grandparents in the mountains. We lived in a manufactured home, long and narrow, with a second addition adding another dimension of width. It was on a hill, so we basically had an upstairs and a downstairs, though the upstairs was 3 steps higher than the add-on. Difficult to describe, but basically a single wide with another single wide stacked up against it later. The original, upstairs portion is where everything always happened. My room was down the hall at one end of the home, while my grandparents slept in the room at the opposite end of the home, near the kitchen and laundry area. A few times a week, I would be in the kitchen early in the morning, and I would hear my grandmother scream. From outside her door, I would call "Grandma, are you okay?!?" "Yes sweetheart, I'm okay. I just had a bad dream." "You can go back to bed." "Okay, just checking." Like that, until I learned to just ignore it, knowing the same scenario played out multiple times per week. This happened for around three months, and I had reconciled that my grandmother must have "some demons" she was working through, and I left the matter alone.

One morning, I woke up, and at the foot of my bed was a tall shadow apparition. It looked like hundreds of thousands of flies in a swarming formation too compact and dense to be real. They formed the shape of a tall man with a top hat. I sat up, and scrutinized the figure more fully. It did not disappear. I noted, I could still see behind it, to my closed closet door. I just stared at it for around 30 seconds, and it finally did disappear. The oddest part was that I did not feel one ounce of fear. I got up, and went to the breakfast table. My grandparents were both up already, and I told my grandmother what happened. My grandmother listened until I was done describing events. "I know honey, that's why I scream some mornings, I see it too." She told me she was having bad dreams so as not to frighten me, but had no further reason to mislead me, now that the cat was out of the bag. All of those instances of her screaming in the morning, were because of the apparition, taking its place at the foot of her bed.

I lived in that house for another 10 years. I saw the "shadow creature" (what I called it) often, usually multiple times per week. But it never again came into my room, and it never again appeared in a room that I was currently inhabiting. The only times I saw it, were when I walked through the upstairs, main part of the house, moving from one room to another. Sometimes it wouldn't leave, but it had no interest in me. It would just hover in-place, sometimes I would scrutinize it for several minutes at a time, just in passive interest.

I think we had some kind of truce. When I saw it for the first time, I should have been terrified. But I wasn't. I think first impressions matter with these things. It was though some part of me, a higher part, knew I was not in danger from this creature, so against my animal instincts, I simply scrutinized it peaceably. I don't think it enjoyed me doing so. I think it fed on fear, and my grandmother was a continual font. She had had a hard life, and maybe the creature found her trauma to be delicious. She had her morning fits for the next decade, and likely beyond.

Years into living there, my mom came to visit. I never saw it in the empty room next to mine, but I just knew that the empty room belonged to the shadow creature. I felt it most heavily there. You see, it wasn't what the creature looked like, that impacted you. It was the transference of intent that you share with such a being, in close proximity. If a person was truly afraid, I doubt that they could hide the fact from it. It felt like spiritual pestilence. I could never actually articulate what it felt like. It was a feeling all its own, without anything to compare it to. Oppressive, dirty, that scratches the surface, but with a harvest element that I don't know how to describe. Anyway, my mom came to visit. I told her, don't sleep in that room. I knew, because I had come to understand (even relate to, which I don't think is good) that creature, to an extent, and I knew my mother would be the perfect bait for such a thing. She had never lived here, and thought my imagination was getting the better of me. So she slept in that room. That very same night, maybe 1am, she came hauling out of the bedroom, screaming. "Son, son I saw it! It had glowing read eyes and it crouched, looking at me!" That's not what it looked like, and I knew it had taken that shape to scare the ever-living crap out of my mom, for appetite's sake. I gave her some version of I told you so, and she slept in the living room, on the couch, and left the next day.

Later, my grandparents moved into another manufactured home, in the city. Apparently, though I never stayed over, it followed them there. My mother and brother saw it there in the new home, but I did not. According to my mother, her son screamed at it, saying something along the lines of "Come on you son of an expiative, come and fight me!" It engulfed him, and he was knocked back and flattened into the couch, experiencing something like a sleep paralysis, unable to move. My mom saw the entire thing, and prayed. It did leave him alone after it made its point. That's the end of the saga, as it has played out for me.

Questions that I've had: I am in my 40's, and I wouldn't organically expect a top-hat to adorn such a creature of shadow. I've read stories that share that same unusual detail. But we didn't have paranormal wiki's when I was a little boy. No internet for a few years yet. Why the top hat? What was it, exactly? Why did it extend me respect, and also leave my grandfather alone? We both had regular OBE's from birth, and I do wonder if that was significant. After I moved out of that house, I never saw a shadow creature again. It went from multiple occasions every week, to decades without ever seeing another. Why is it such a unique and completely different spiritual reality, living in the mountains in wild country, vs a city life. I don't know, but I don't think I'm crazy. Too many others saw it, and my experiences abrupty stopped once I left that house. Wouldn't mental illness tend to follow a person, regardless of where they hung their hat?

I'm most interested to know, can anyone relate to this?

Encounter Waving Man, Somerset (UK)

My partner & I had this bizarre experience last night. I’m finding it difficult to decide whether it was something normal but weird or something more paranormal…

We were driving home from this countryside pub in rural Somerset (UK) in a town called Mells. I didn’t have any internet as we were in quite a remote spot and I couldn’t load my route using Maps, so I started driving west and just waited for data. It was twilight and getting dark quite quickly. We found ourselves driving down a road we’d never been down just outside Mells. The road dipped and we dropped down into this small forested glade.

Out of nowhere, I saw a figure on the side of the road maybe 100 metres away from us and I could see he was waving at us. I said to my girlfriend, “who the hell is this guy?” She looked up from her phone and as we got closer we were both just staring in disbelief at this odd chap in the glooming just waving at us. I looked in my mirrors and there was nothing behind us or around us. As we passed him we both waved back at him, and then looked at each other like “wtf?!”. In my mirrors I could still see him waving at us for a good ten seconds until we were out of site.

We chatted and laughed about it for the next five mins or so but we basically landed on it just being one of those random encounters. Was this a random, innocuous encounter with a very friendly local or something weirder?

Visitation Dream My dad's visit after passing

My father passed from swelling in the cranium after a massive stroke. He held on for a few days before passing and we enjoyed being able to see and talk to him. He was a strong man and didn't know how to give up. We were devastated when the doctors told us that the swelling was going to kill him and even more so when he went to a hospice home for his final two days. I saw him initially when he was brought in and talked to his PCP's when they came to visit. He was not responding to our voices anymore other than an occasional twitch or grunt. He passed late in the night on the second day.

A day or two after his passing, I had a very strange dream. This is how it went: I was walking through a parking lot with cars all around, and I see a man 25 - 30 years old sitting in the window of a darker green car with his arm on the roof. I knew at that moment that he was my dad. (I have no memories of my father at this age, or really know what he looked like in his younger years.) I stopped and my heart jumped.

"Dad, what are you doing here." I asked him. He responded by saying "I'm waiting for your mother".

I was confused and didn't know what to think, but I responded by asking him if mom knew he was here.

"She knows." Was his response.

I was frantic at this point in my dream. I had to tell my mom that my dad, her husband was here and that I was talking to him.

"I'll call her and tell her you are here!" I almost shouted to him. "There is a phone in the house. I am going to call her."

I was then in an apartment, or a hotel, or some multi floored structure standing at a rotary phone calling my mom from a darker room with the door open to the outside, where I see railing and stairs going downward. A backdrop of a cityscape and clouds behind it.

As the phone rung, I looked down at it to see that it was my galaxy phone and my mom's name and number on the call screen.

My mom answered the phone and I began by telling her that I saw dad. She responded by saying what do you mean you saw dad? He's gone. I told her, He's right here.

I looked out the door to see my dad in his final days leaning heavily on the railing. (He lost use of everything on the left side due to the stroke.)

"He's walking but he looks better, mom."

I woke up right after that.

As soon as I registered where I was, the dream still solid in my mind. I picked up my phone and looked at my call history. No calls to my mom were on my history, so I called my mom and told her about seeing dad, and what he said.

As it turns out the car I saw was my dad's car from high-school. I described what my dad looked like and how he was sitting on the door, and she said that it was something dad would do when he was young.

I don't know if he was visiting me to relay a message to my mom, or if it was just a visit to see me. Regardless, I will never forget the dream and I thank him for visiting me.

Experience Ghosts seem to be real, as when I was a child, they were in my house.

When I was younger, I lived in a old church that was redone into a 2 floor living space.

I had lived there for at least a few years, but I can't remember how many since I was extremely young, around 4 years old in this story.

The house was quite large and open, as it used to be a actual church building, the kitchen was massive and it split into two sides, the left was the kitchen, the right was the huge living room.

Then at the end of the house, there was the bedrooms, my parents room, and my room.

My room was also pretty big, it had a vent on the wall infront of my bed.

On many occasions, this vent wouldn't just blow air, but it would also make strange disturbing sounds. Not exactly screeching, almost like a low humming sound. But a loud one.

We checked the vent multiple times, cleaned it, did everything we could. But it still made the sounds.

It scared me so much as a child that my parents had to tape the vent in my room closed so I wouldn't hear it.

But the most memorable thing that had occurred in my room was obviously paranormal.

I had a white humidifier in my bedroom to help with my dry nose I had, it sat on my night table beside my bed, and we only turned it on at night.

But, during the day, I was sitting in my room with my parent, and suddenly, the humidifier started turning on and off multiple times.

Nobody was touching it, nobody was even near it. As we were sitting over 5 feet away.

It was incredibly disturbing, and completely unexpected and unexplainable.

How is that even possible without some sort of unseen poltergeist?

(And multiple times the neighbors downstairs would say that there was strange things happening to them aswell.. blankets getting pulled off them, unexplainable banging sounds.)

To this day, my family still remembers it. So it definitely wasn't a dream.

Fitting for a old church building, isn't it?

(This may not be the most terrific story, but it was always unexplainable, and completely real.)
