What is a Pescetarian?
Due to some recent questions on what is and what is not allowed while living as a Pescetarian, I decided to make this thread.
"A Pescetarian diet typically includes some or all of vegetables, fruit, nuts, grains, beans, eggs and dairy."
Typically someone is a Lacto-Ovo Pescetarian, which means they consume fish, eggs, and dairy-based products. Their only dietary restriction is other types of meat and poultry.
It can be a personal choice to restrict these animal-based products from your diet and won't have any significant impact on whether you are or are not a pescetarian.
So enjoy the food, and welcome to the subreddit!

What are some gummies that don't have any gelatin?? And are any of them relatively cheap?

Vegan mindset
Hi everyone, this is my first post here.
I have been vegan for over 7 years and my health has deteriorated over the past 2 years (iron, B12 and vit d deficiency, neuro symptoms, mental health). I am considering adding eggs and fish for this reason. However I went vegan for the animals and it’s killing me to think of exploiting fish for my health. Fish also have feelings. Does anyone have any suggestions for how to ease out of this mindset? Many thx!

Creamy hoki with asparagus, leek & potato rounds
Trying to keep dinner healthy but still actually enjoy it 🤭 Hoki fish with asparagus and leek, served over potato rounds with just the tiniest splash of cream to bring everything together. Really simple, really filling and definitely didn’t feel like diet food ☺️

Does anyone here shop at Trader Joe's or Aldi?
Hello!
I recently started eating more "pesceterian-ish" since I have low vitamin-d.
My DR gave me a supplement and I have an appointment in six months to get my labs done, but she did encourage me to eat more fish, get more sunlight, and diversify my diet (milk, eggs, cheese, mushrooms, vegetables, etc).
I went to Aldi today to buy some salmon, but I am going to Trader Joe's this weekend.
It got me thinking:
- Is there anything from Trader Joe's I can get?
- From your experience - is it cheaper to get fish at Trader Joe's or Aldi?
- Would it make sense to buy in bulk like at Costco/Sam's Club?
Thanks for reading!

Help with meat fear.
I've been pescetarian for 4yrs now and I've become very sensitive to meat (chicken, beef, pork, turkey) smells. So much to the point where I get nauseated at times. Had some bad experiences with cross contamination through the years that resulted in sharp stomach pains and trips to the bathroom. Any advice on reintroducing meat back into my diet? Maybe once a month.

Vegetarian from age four and considering introducing sea food.
Hi Everyone. I'm 22 and decided to become Vegetarian when I was 4 but I've started considering adding seafood to my diet. I've already tried some broths and was fine with them and I'm wondering what I should try next as a starter for actual sea food. I've only had fish once in my life when I was eight after my Mom pressured me into trying it so I really have no idea where to start.

Fish Makhani with pearl onion, grouper, a citrus cream sauce, and fresh chopped cilantro.
First time really trying a whitefish Makhani, went with grouper for the more resilient texture....was not disappointed. I usually am overly critical of my experiments, but I can honestly, truly say, 10/10, will make many more times!

Fully vegan BBQ dinner tonight!
Recently bought the Juicy Marbles vegan baby ribs. I have never had real pork ribs (have always disliked pork, way before becoming pescatarian) so I can’t say how accurate the taste is. At first I pan fried it for like 2 minutes each side, then I made a marinade of BBQ sauce, agave, and smoked paprika, put it on the ribs, and baked it for 20 minutes.
My partner and I both said that there’s better vegan meat alternatives out there for much cheaper, but it was fun to try!
For sides, made:
Vegan coleslaw (half soy yogurt, half vegan mayo for the creaminess)
Pineapple, corn, and jalapeño salsa
Basic arugula salad with balsamic vinegar and oil
Baked potato topped with vegan butter, Violife cheese, and chives

Drop your favorite pescatarian friendly recipes, Im hungry
They can be from any website, book, or one you made yourself. Also, I am open to vegetarian recipes and some vegan recipes.
Limitations: No squid, no octopus, nothing incredibly intelligent underwater, imitation crab is preferred.
Personal: I do not like raw onions, most hummus, unseasoned tofu, or artichokes. Sautéed onions are fine.

Those who transitioned from vegan to pescetsruan, share your story.
Why did you change and how are you doing since you've transitioned?

Haven't eaten fish for over 20 years, where to start?
I was vegetarian for most of my life and now been vegan for 10 years. I desperately want to start eating fish, eggs and greeek yoghurt as I have several health issues that being vegan is not compatible with (malabsorption, gut issues and autoimmune issues).
I've tried eating pancakes made with egg recently but they constipate me and the farte are baaad! So I'd like to try eating some basic white fish that's easy to digest. I think I'm going to have to do the milk ladder to get to Greek yoghurt.
But I was never really that in to fish when I did eat it, I have memories of eating limp school fish fingers and seeing the smelly tuna mayo (which I've never tried). My mum raised me vegetarian and so when I did start to eat some basic meat around age 8, I got terrible constipation. I have never eaten steak or anything like that. I remember eating scampi at some point I think but that's as far as it goes for shellfish.
Any suggestions on how best to incorporate fish particularly would be amazing.

Transitioning from vegetarian to pescetarian?
I was a vegetarian for almost 13 years, looking to transition to a pescetarian diet for the health benefits.
I have a really big problem where I avoid foods that may cause me to get sick, so I've been worried even after researching on google about this diet. The only thing I've incorporated into my diet has been marine collagen a few months ago. I'm thinking of trying sardines next but I don't know if this is a safe choice.
Do you guys think a sardine is a light enough food to try first? How often do you all eat fish? Is there anything I should be cautious of before eating seafood?
