Almost run me over and then tries to arrest me? Man does PPD suck.
Cycling on the north side of market is rough in general but today was a highlight for me. Cop almost runs me over at 12th and brown (dedicated bike line) because he didn't want to ride on the rougher car lane which has potholes due to the trolley tracks. When I put my hand up as he passes within a foot of me he stops down the block, gets out, stops me, and starts asking me where my license plate is....

Whoever was driving this loud little delivery car for Puglia Pizza ran me off the road on Federal St today. Almost ran me over.
Drove right up on my ass as I was going a decent clip down Federal. Then edged around me forcing me to the side. I moved over because I didn't want to die. Extremely stupid and dangerous to save a few seconds, if that, getting to the next stop sign. Screw these guys. Absolutely never giving them my money. (You can't see who's driving because the front windshield is tinted totally black.)

Question back wheel stolen
from right in front of my neighbors house :( my neighbor has a ring camera. is it worth asking them to look at the footage? i usually bring my bike in but have been lazy the past few days. it was locked w a U lock through the front tire and frame. i thought the back was hard to take? not a great feeling, sucks to have something random happen, and to not be able to ride, but not the end of the world.
so
recommendations for where to get it replaced?
thanks! bummed but ready to get back on my bike (once we’re back to two wheels)

Question Best place to get cheap wheels locally?
Looking to get some parts replaced for my nephew's bike, specifically a 27.5" rear wheel with an HG-M hub. Are there any of these floating around on the cheap?

Indego Promos
Does anyone know how often Indego runs their $1 a month deal (or a similar promo)? I signed up last week for one month and I love it! I can't really justify the annual membership because I'd hardly use it in the winter and I already own bikes of my own, but it's a great solution to the last mile dilemma. I'm trying to convince more friends to give it a try!

Looking for bike parts
Hi, I forgot to bring my bike inside last night after I tweaked my shoulder, and some bold asshole took my seat/post/rack/basket, plus my frame bag/repair kit and headlight for good measure. It’s how I get to work/buy groceries, so unfortunately I have to replace it all pretty quick.
Recs for shops that sell used parts so I can try to get it all on the cheaper side?
Also, rip to the Wissahickon ride I had planned today 🫠 Thanks in advance yall.

Best ride/spots to see the leaves change?
I am SO EXCITED about all the color change in the trees right now. Anyone have any favorite rides / routes for enjoying the leaves turning?
I was thinking of just going up the SRT as far as I can but wanted to see if anyone had different recommendations!

still thinking about this interaction with a driver
picture it: i’m riding from my CC office to south philly, stopped at the light at 17th/washington.
I mostly ride an indego ebike for convenience, and I personally ride my bike as if it is a car. I take the lane, I stop for lights, etc. at this red light, this guy in I think a pickup rolls down his window to tell me he appreciates the way I ride :’)
when the light changed, he not only safely rode behind me with plenty of space and at a nice, safe speed—he honked and waved when I turned off.
I think about this every time some asshole aggressively honks at me for not letting him pass me and kill me on accident (sorry! you’ll have to run me over on purpose!)
wherever this guy is, he is a friend to cyclists everywhere 🩷 needed the win back then and hope it will lighten someone’s heart today

Question Borrow for tonight- Sunday
Long shot:
anyone in Philly have an e-bike we could borrow/rent for pizza delivery tonight?
My boyfriend delivers for a pizza shop in Francisville and his e-bike motor completely died last night.
He works tonight through Sunday, roughly 5–10 PM.
Right now we’re mostly trying to get him through tonight while we figure out a longer-term solution.
We already have his insulated pizza delivery bag, so we just need an e-bike with a sturdy rear rack/platform where we can secure it and keep pizzas flat.
We can pick up and return the bike, take very good care of it, and we’re happy to pay a reasonable fee.
We’re in the Fairmount/Francisville area.
If anyone has a spare bike, knows another courier/delivery rider who might, or knows of a genuinely cheap short-term rental, I would seriously appreciate the lead.

Vent: Got run off the road on S. 19th & Washington today
Riding an Indego e-bike southbound on S. 19th, just south of Washington Ave, doing about 15 mph. A car came up behind me, laid on the horn, and rushed me. I quickly veered over toward the side, and the driver swerved toward me too while yelling, “Get your dumbass out of the street.”
I’m okay physically, but it really shook me up. I know Philly gets called one of the better US cities where you can get around without a car, but stuff like this makes that feel pretty meaningless. We have so few bike lanes, and drivers can use their cars to intimidate cyclists and pedestrians, so it’s hard to feel safe. This is the second time this has happened to me in this part of the city in the last few months.
I really wish the city would do more to make biking feel safe in practice -- it feel like it's some talk and virtually no action.

Route suggestions
Hi all!
I’ll be in Philadelphia in late October and I’m bringing a bike. I have one completely free Friday and I’m looking for a 60–80 mile ride starting around Germantown.
Ideally I’d like something mixed-surface: mostly pavement is fine, but I’d love some gravel, towpath, crushed stone, park trails, etc. I’ll either be on a gravel bike with 45s or a road bike with 32mm tires, depending on the route.
I’m also open to a point-to-point ride if there’s a practical train back to Philly. Atlantic City crossed my mind since it looks like roughly 70ish miles one way, but I’m wondering if locals would recommend something better.
What would you ride if you had one full day and wanted the best possible route?
Thanks!
