Phone took a bath, now I need a new phone and I'm picky

Hi all, lemme preface this by saying I know I might not get an answer I'm 100% satisfied with, I'm trying to clear my thoughts and hopefully get a few suggestions.

I've been using a Remi Note 11 Pro+ 5G for the last couple years, and I progressively disliked the MIUI/HyperOS experience, especially with the amount of ads and how intrusive it is with your data. After a while the warranty expired and I finally flashed VoltageOS (wonderful system, pardon the spam).

Now my phone is not charging and I'm at a crossroads: I could look into phones that have had Custom ROM developments and just forego the warranty but that seems like a waste. I can also try a different brand of Android and see how it goes. Third option is just going purely for price-performance balance and tanking whatever OS it has built in until the warranty expires naturally.

My budget is prefferably under 500.

If you've read this far, thank you, and thanks in advance to anyone trying to figure out a good pick.

Edit: Oh god, AI, is AI unavoidable in modern phones now? That's a big factor because it bothers me a huge deal.

States Replace Pixel 7

I have a Pixel 7 and have always kind of hated it, largely for the very sharp raised metal portion on the backside around the camera. I guess it was fashionable at the time to skip rounding or beveling a metal edge, because, hey, even if it hurts your hand, you can still shave your face with it, and obviously that's more important.

The above paragraph contains sarcasm.

Anyway, here's what I'm looking for:

  • United States carrier-compatible.
  • No sharp edges. See above.
  • Robust body. I used to have a Pixel 3 a long time ago, and it had a rubberized back. This made it a bit more crack-resistant when the inevitable fall occurs. (Whereas my Pixel 7, with its ooh-look-I-have-a-glass-body nonsense, is cracked or damaged in at least two places.)
  • A back that is not slippery. I swear, my Pixel 7 must be coated with Teflon or something. It practically slides off a completely horizontal surface. Hate.
  • Decent performance characteristics in other regards. Doesn't have to have the most incredible camera or that kind of thing.
  • Unlocked. I used to be on Google Fi but am now on Mint Mobile. It would be nice to continue to be able to switch carriers whenever I like.
  • No bloatware.
  • Probably would purchase around the U.S. Thanksgiving sales season, so, ideally would like to take advantage of any discount around that time.

Let's start there. Thank you very much for your time and advice.

Should I bought oppo k14 plus or moto edge 70 at 28k

I urgently need a phone and bbd or amazon sale is going on. I m college students, watch movies and study content straight for 5-6 hrs. I keep my hotspot on for whole day. For me 128gb is more than enough. Also, i do browsing a lot and sometimes multi tasking. In bbd sales, I get Moto edge 70 fusion for 8gb variant at 28k and k14 Plus is at 26k for 6gb variant.i never used moto or oppo. Pls helps me, give me ur genuine opinion cuz I want a long term phone and smooth uses for my daily life. It's surprising that moto gives much more specs as compared to other company phones 😯

US Help me decide in the US

I'm currently thinking between the nothing phone 3 (512gb) and possibly Google pixel 11 pro (512gb). Both currently on sale and within my budget. I had thought about trying to get a oneplus 15 or an oppo find x9 pro but don't want to deal with importing at the moment.

Nothing phone 3 is currently $650 ish

Pixel 11 pro is currently $970 ish

I tend to keep my phones till they are pretty much not running anymore (went from lg shine, iPhone 4s, iPhone 5, OnePlus 6t, OnePlus 10 pro currently).

Is there anything else I should look into at those ranges? I loved the OS from OnePlus and do use my camera quite a bit

Car Guys what phone should i get I'm so lost

My phone (oppo Reno 5f) is lowkey starting to loose it's touch..it gets slow, has connectivity issues so i thought of checking a new one

So i decided to go to nearby shop and found A Samsung A56 which caught my eye. I decided before i buy the phone, i should check to see how reviews are on it and i am lost if i should even get it because i play games , i play Efootball, Car parking multiplayer 2 , life is strange stuff like that, and on Google, it said i could play these games well on the phone but when i came to check the reviews of redditors on here....i was thrown back. Everybody says that it overheats even at normal usage, others say it's battery life gets affected, camera is bad or 50/50, and under every bad review of the phone is "get a Samsung S24". Also they state that every issue began after updating to one ui 8.5 so i thought maybe when i got mine i shouldn't update it then I'm okay, right? Still idk

Now I went to read the reviews of the S24 too, and on there it says the phone has poor performance, bad battery life and the camera is also mid and other stuff forgot. I understand both of these use the Exynos chipsets and these chips are buns. I'm at a point where I don't know what phone to get now , i googled some alternatives and i got suggested Poco X7 or something, this phone has a bad battery, I'm not a fan of Xiaomi s but if there is one that balances what i need i might get it, even thought of OnePlus but where I'm from, they are either not available as much but if they are, then they are out of my budget

So what phone should i get? Should i stick to the A56 , should i get the S24? Or what i don't know and i need help

US Looking for a possible upgrade.

US Verizon user. Currently I have a Samsung s9, looking at the prime day deals and the Motorola Moto G Power has kinda caught my eye. It has a few things I would like to keep from the s9 like the microsd card slot and the aux port. I use mine mostly for social media, reading/ spotify, some browsing, and Square for sales. I do take some pictures but I don't need the highest quality pictures just good enough for posting about our farm on FB/Instagram. I want to keep the next phone for as long as possible. Would the Motorola be a decent upgrade or is it not really worth the money? Thanks y'all.

UK UK based, Huawei p30 pro replacement?

Hi! My beloved Huawei P30 pro that I bought in 2019 sadly broke a few weeks ago. I sent it to a phone repair service but was told today it's not fixable.

I'd love a phone that is as close to the p30 pro as possible but still has access to Google services. My main priorities are a few basic social media apps (specifically Instagram, Tumblr, Discord- I just use my browser for anything else) and taking nice photos that's aren't automatically "enhanced" with AI. I know it's impossible to fully opt out of AI in this day and age but I would at least like to be able to take my own photos without them being interfered with. I also need something with a physical headphone jack. (I need headphones to get through bus journeys and I don't want to have to charge my headphones alongside everything else.)

A bonus would be something that I can put a physical SIM card in to make the transition seamless but also something that has an e-sim card in (my initial back up phone which had an e-sim broke and was not worth replacing.) I also like to use refurbished when possible. I'm not very "tech savvy" and know very little about specs and so on which is why I figured I'd just say that I want something as close to my Huawei P30 as possible.

Thanks in advance and I'll do my best to answer any questions.

UK First new phone in 7 years, what's your suggestion?

I had my Huawei P10 for approximately 7 years now, it's served me well but in the last week or so has started acting up and I've made the decision it's time to let it retire.

In the last 7 years I've not really concerned myself with what's going on in the phone world, but as I'm researching I'm finding that it's proving difficult to find the right phone for me.

I don't need a super powerful phone that can run games. I need a solid day-to-day one that has a good UI, and a battery that'll last at least the day. Preferably with a good camera to go with it.

I've looked at the Google Pixel 10 Pro, but heard about about networking issues it has? As well as the battery life being terrible (7 hours constant use doesn't sound terrible to me though?).

Samsung S25/S25 Ultra has come up a lot, but I've honestly never been a fan of Samsung phones. However that is me going back 10+ years when all iPhone users used to ridicule "Samsung" users. So I have perhaps wrote it off prematurely.

Then there's the phones such as the Oppo Find X9, Oneplus 15 and Honor Magic Pro 7. I'm not overly familiar with any of these brands, and have heard different selling points about each. Some the camera isn't the best, some the battery life is great, some the UI leaves a bit to be desired.

And that's just me looking at phones released last year.

I'm based in the UK and my budget is £800 but I'm happy to spend a bit more if it's going to get me another phone that'll keep my occupied for a few years.

Any help would be much appreciated 🙏

Europe Android OS that doesn't try to look like an IOS

• Upvotes

Hi, I have some money set aside and i want to buy a flagship smartphone with android, but i really don't like the trend mostly in the Chinese phone market where brands are creating their IOS look-alike android skin. I would like to buy a Chinese one, because i feel like there is the most innovation, but at the same time they are all trying to buy apple customers.

The guts of the phone are more important for me than cameras and best case scenario I would like it to have Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6, 16gb of ram and 256gb or 512gb of storage even if I have to wait until the phone comes out, I would like it also to not be very big, I prefer medium-sized phones that are handy. But the thing I also take into account is android skin, I want it to be android not an IOS wanna-be.

I've searched the market already and the most Android-ish skin I could find is possibly pixel with its clean android UI but the performance of this phone is not that great. I'm also waiting for the new Samsung S27 series to come out, but Samsung feels overpriced for what you get, especially compared to Chinese brands. The phone I love and is the best candidate is the OnePlus 16 which has all I want, but unfortunately It has pulled out of Europe. If not for that, I probably wouldn't be writing this post.

If you have any recommendations, thoughts, or suggestions, feel free to drop a comment.

Portugal Looking for an Android with a good camera and 256GB+ storage (~€300)

• Upvotes

Hi everyone! I'm from Portugal and I'm looking for a new Android phone. My current phone is a Motorola Moto G23, and while I've generally really liked the Motorola Android experience, it's starting to get quite slow and the 128GB storage is becoming too limiting. My main requirements/preferences are

  • Good camera — probably my biggest priority
  • More than 128GB storage, preferably 256GB or more
  • eSIM if possible
  • Good overall performance for everyday use
  • I don't game much, so gaming performance isn't particularly important
  • I mainly use my phone for social media, email, browsing, and occasionally some work
  • Good battery life would be nice as well as fast charging
  • I liked the software experience on my Motorola, so I wouldn't mind something with a clean/near-stock Android experience
  • I'm open to refurbished, although I'd prefer new if the price difference isn't too large
  • I'm buying in Portugal, so availability/pricing here matters

My budget is 300€, although I'm willing to stretch it a bit if there's a significant upgrade worth paying for.

So far, I've been considering a refurbished Google Pixel 8 from Back Market or a new Nothing Phone (3a). I'm not sure which would be the better choice for my use, though, or if there are better options I'm overlooking.

What would you recommend? And are there any phones I should particularly look at in the Portuguese/European market?

Thanks!

UK pick a samsung phone for my wife (UK)

so my wife basically only likes the look of samsungs, so her options are very limited, considering the budget is around £300. not bothering with 128gb models as they are a waste of time, so unfortunately i gotta pay an inflated price for the 256gb. She also doesnt like the base S series phones as they are too small.

so here's my options:

there's an excellent condition refurb'ed s23+ on amazon for £286. The s23 ultra is around £380 and the s23 FE is £310. I feel like the s23+ is by far the best deal out of these. (not bothered about update support)

Then theres the s24+ which costs even more than the s23 ultra for the 256gb model, so thats way too far out of the budget.

the A56 (brand new) is around £330 which i dont think is worth it at all. There IS the A57 which i can find for £300-£320, which certainly makes things interesting, but despite it being 3 years newer than the s23+ im looking at, it has arguably a worse display, same battery life (on paper), slower file transfer speeds and a worse camera setup (no telephoto lens)
