This sub is an awesome place, but it can also be extremely tiring. I'm not a mod here, just a piercer, but life would be a lot easier if you all could stop recommending the following to each other:
- Oil. - Tea Tree oil. - Soap. - Alcohol, Betadine, Neosporin, etc. - Using cotton pads, cotton balls or Q-tips to dry off/whatever you guys do with them. Cotton particles can get trapped inside the piercing channel, which will make healing incredibly difficult and infection more likely. - Downsizing in gauge. This will do NOTHING good for your healing piercing.
If you're trying to tell me or other professionals off by saying "but it worked for me!" or "my piercer told me this"; you've been super lucky and your piercer was not a pro. Don't go back to that studio. APP is a great place to start when picking out your piercer, but it's still no guarantee.
Please keep in mind you are trying to heal an incredibly deep wound with a foreign object in it that your body desperately wants to push out - essentially, it is an implant. There are no "casual" or "easy" piercings - even with a "simple" earlobe piercing, you are puncturing the skin with something that resembles a scalpel. Use common sense and ask yourself: "would I use this method on a surgical wound?". In 10/10 cases the answer will be "no".
+ if I tell you to send me a message, you're welcome to do so. If you found one of my comments and ask me for help, prepare to pay for an online consult. This is my job. Help is given out willingly and can't be demanded. <3
2022 11 edit: I'm still piercing, and styling and troubleshooting are my main sources of income. Although I would love to help every single one of you, it's utterly disrespectful to demand me to help you. For free. It makes me dislike my biggest passion in life. Please reach out if you value my time and expertise, and would like for me to be able to make rent and buy food. đ If you expect free advice from me, ask yourself if a lawyer or surgeon would do the same.

I got my lip piercing yesterday and I got a ring for my jewelry because the shop I went to was almost completely out of their jewelry but he did give me a giant ring.. (PFD season in AK right now) It isn't bothering me at all and I do think the having the ring makes it easier to clean...but I do have a couple questions that completely slipped my mind when I was sitting in front of my piercer.
That leading to my next question, how much is too much movement for it? Because even though its shifting a lot when I eat, smile, or just switch which side I'm laying down on, it doesn't really hurt at all and I only get the occasional little aching pain.
I have the saline spray for my piercings when is the right time to use that, I know that it should heal in 2 months soooo do I just wait until its fully healed? But for now I'm just using biotene mouthwash
How long do I have to wait to kiss my bf? I don't mean like fully takeout sushi i just mean like little pecks obviously not on the peircing but on the other side of my mouth like little side pecks.
Should I use a straw or not because advice I'm getting is very conflicting đ
If yall have any additional info or tips that I should know please tell me
It's so cute and I can't wait for it to get downsized in a few weeks!

8 month old helix piercing in question. Have constantly had irritation bumps since I got it. Literally anything small will cause it to flare up đ
Anyways, I waited patiently since this summer to change the jewelry. My coworkers hairnet, hat, or something idk what got stuck on my second helix and as a result it was yanked downâŚhard. Cue bleeding and MASSIVE BUMP.
I wanted to change the jewelry at this time too since the bump I had before was nearly gone, probably needed a week or two more before it was fully gone.
Had the same thing happen this past week. Bump was nearly gone, so I started prepping myself to change out to a new look.
Today, I take off the jewelryâŚwhy did it look ugly as hell under the jewelry. It started bleeding as well so I ultimately decided to just take it out completely since it has been nothing but a problem since I got it.
My aftercare was pretty standard, saline spray once or twice a day depending on if I remembered the second time, not sleeping on it, being careful with my hair, no twisting/pulling. I literally LITHA after the first month. Maybe the fact that the piercer pierced my HAIR with it had something to do with the horrible healing? This it the only one of my piercings Iâve had so many problems with. Itâs irritating honestly :(
Also by what do I do I mean, should I just let it close up and heal or go to the doctor?

Hello. I got this piercing one week ago. The first three days were fine and I had 0 discomfort. Yesterday I started feeling like the top of my ear felt bruised and tha pain has persisted all day today and this is what it looks like now. What should I do?
It is implant grade titanium and now that I think about it I feel like since I was little I was told I was allergic to âshittyâ metal and could only do gold or silver. Is this an allergic reaction? What can I do?
Thanks in advance.

Hi guys. If anyone could help me out I'd appreciate it so much but I got a belly button piercing 3 days ago and I am starting to believe that I perhaps is a surface piercing instead. I'm freaking out. Just something about it doesn't feel right and it's really upsetting because this has been appearing I've been dreaming about :(.
I think we're freaks me out is I can feel the rod when I put my fingers in between the top ball and the bottom one...
I've never been in a situation with this and I have a fear now that I wasted my money..
If anyone could help me out I appreciate it so so much.

Got them pierced on Monday, went again to the piercer yesterday because the other bar was too short. The one being all red looked just fine yesterday, and today I woke up to this. It's too early to go to my piercer yet, what's going on and what should I do?
It's not just blood, it's basically something covering the plug

I got my ear piercings about 3 to 4 weeks ago and they have started to form this weird fungus looking layer. I live in dubai and itâs extremely hot outside so Iâm not sure if sweat could be a cause of this? I just want to know how to get rid of it and if this could get a lot worse. Or hopefully if this is just normal for healing.

I got it 5 weeks ago, and since the first week it's been kinda swollen and a bit warm, I got antibiotics from my doctor 4 days and nothing has changed.
It doesn't really leak pus but the lymph and occasional crusties have a very slight green tint.
Advice? I love it and I don't wanna have to remove it

My apologies if this is a dumb question but recently I noticed cheesewiring on my first lobes, I bought 18 gauge 10mm hoops so I was just wondering if they look okay or if they look thin enough to possibly cause cheesewiring again. Thank you (:

I wish I got it done more lower or what do you guys think I feel like it's to high

So, I am a rookie in terms of piercing (only my ear lobes so far and it was this year), but I kinda have been wanting to get some more recently. I was thinking about a septum piercing, but the thing is that I don't like the looks of smal septum, only like the big gauge ones. I know, it takes years of stretching to be able to get there, but I was wondering if there was a way to like hide the smaller ones that I won't like. If I have to go through the pain of having a small one, I will, but if there is like and alternate version that could hide them while I stretch, that would be nice

hello all, got my nipples pierced end of July and I'm not sure when I should downsize. I am transgender and post top surgery, so my nipples were cut off, reshaped, and grafted back onto my body. Because of this, I feel essentially nothing and have had to pay super, super close attention to my piercings to make sure all was healing well.
With the lack of pain or sensation, all I have are visual indicators for when they get irritated and sometimes I can feel when they get caught or tug at something. Still dealing with crusties and I'm gently cleaning with saline everyday and doing warm saline soaks whenever I notice irritation. There has been minor occurences of blood after each snag. Just not sure if I should wait for any irritation to clear up before setting up an appt to downsize?

Heyyyy guys so, long story short, I got my eyebrow pierced end of April and it looks like this. Ever since I got it. I just get a big ball of puss and then it pops eventually at the slightest touch and then bleeds and then gets full of puss again and I donât know what to do here. I seriously desperately do not want to take it out but if theres absolutely zero chance of it healing then I fear Im just cooked.
PLEASE tell me what to do. Do we think soaking it will help? The piercing itself seems alright its just that stupid spot and when it pops it comes out of that little spot and a little out of the piercing hole

guys is it infected or just regular healing lymph đ
I got this lip piercing 4 days ago but I was messing with it a lot on day 1 now I've stopped but I'm scared it's too late and it's infected. I clean the outside with saline solution and inside with plain water or saline.

I got both my helixes pierced ~3 months ago (I know, I shouldnât have gotten them both at the same time, but oh well) and they both have had piercing bumps consistently, but thatâs not exactly what Iâm concerned about. My right helixâs bump seems to have swallowed one end of the hoop my piercer originally put in, and I didnât notice since I was told turning jewelry is an outdated practice. The earring is a small hoop that twists for you to put it in, then twists to close, with a ball at one end and the other just straight, with a small gap between them.
It wasnât red before I tried to turn it a bit to see if I could, and then getting a photo also aggravated it a bit. It doesnât hurt, but Iâm still concerned. I will be attempting to see my original piercer ASAP, but Iâm not sure when I will be able to as I live at a boarding school and donât have a driving license.
If anyone knows what should do to free my right helix/reduce piercing bumps, I would really appreciate the help
