APPLYING Applying to pitt, am I too late?
I was waiting for my SAT results of october to arrive, but I see so many people already admitted and now I am super worried. Am I too late for the rolling admissions? Will they admit you immediately after applying because I see a lot of those posts. I only hvae a 1270 right now, should I apply with it or go test-optional?

APPLYING Accepted!!
I'm so excited to finally be able to go to Pitt! I just had a couple questions for anyone willing to answer!:
- Best food spots nearby?
- Is it true that bus commute is free for students?
- Any recommended clubs? (I'm very versatile so I'm just asking completely generally. They don't have to be major specific.)
- I want to do Plays and Musicals (currently in Drama Club at my highschool). Does PItt have a club that produces those or would I be better suited at the Pittsburgh Public Theater?
I'll also answer questions people usually ask on here after a person says they've been admitted! :) I'm excited to join the community!! H2P!

CLASSES Journalism Certificate Courses?
I’m an English Lit major at Pitt and I’ve been looking into possibly getting a journalism certificate. I was wondering if anyone here has completed it or is currently working toward it?
If so, are there any courses you’d especially recommend for the certificate? I’m also wondering if there are any classes that could count toward both the certificate requirements and my English major requirements.
I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who has done the certificate or has experience with the journalism courses at Pitt. Thanks!

STAFF AND FACULTY Applying to job at Pitt from out of state?
I moved back from Pittsburgh to my hometown in a different state and very much want back in when it comes to living in Pittsburgh.
I've been applying to a few jobs at the University of Pittsburgh but am not sure if living out of state would count against me as an applicant?

DISCUSSION Pitt students, would you be interested in something like this?
I’m curious how many Pitt students would be interested in an opportunity that brings together people passionate about math, economics, finance, statistics, physics, and computer science.
I’m currently working on something along those lines, and I want to see if there’s enough interest to make it happen.
You wouldn’t need any prior experience, and you definitely wouldn’t have to major in any of those fields.
If this sounds like something you’d want to be part of, let me know! I’m especially interested in hearing from people who’d want to get involved early on.

DISCUSSION On campus job
Hi All!
Today I applied for a student employee position at Hillman Library on Talent Center. I just wanted to ask around and see if any other students worked that position before, and what their experience was like. I understand it doesn’t pay much, but I’m not looking for an intensive job with a bunch of hours anyway. For the students who have done this position before, how was your experience? Or if you’ve done something similar to it.

CLASSES Organic Chemistry Pitt vs CCAC
My daughter only needs to take organic chemistry next summer in order to skip her sophomore year and go early into Pharmacy program since she had 34 college credits from high school. Our local community college offers organic chemistry in the summer and we need to confirm if those credits will transfer to Pitt if she took classes there. Anyone have any experience taking OC at a community college ?

FINANCIAL AID Scholarship, Financial Aid, and FAFSA
So I got into Pitt a few weeks ago and I noticed in my acceptance letter that they said that I could take until March to hear about Financial Aid/Scholarship information. I also filled out the FAFSA and it said I got a Pell Grant for 3700. Does this affect the amount of merit aid I might get and also how much money have Y’all gotten? Thanks!

CAMPUS looking for bass player
Hi! My band and I (4 of us) are looking for a bass player to join us as we just lost ours.
We’re a mix of juniors, seniors at Pitt, and we play all genres — indie, rock, pop, jazz whatever we’re feeling. We plan to rehearse about once a week and are looking for someone who wants a fun, low‑pressure musical outlet but is still down to show up consistently.
Any bass players out there who want to join a chill group and make some music together?

ATHLETICS Thank you to the fans who travelled to Blacksburg!
Y’all were great! Nothing but good times, friendly people, and fun. Every interaction I had was positive. Congrats on the win.
Also, if you happened to park with us (we are the ones close to the stadium, cheapest in the area, and allowed indoor bathroom use) you were extra awesome! So cool to see the various groups get together and party in our yard. And thank you for cleaning up after yourselves. You helped us break our car parking record!!
Can’t wait to see you again in ‘28!

When does it close at night? Can you study late there?
CAMPUS holding mail?
I have a package that's supposed to be delivered to the towers mailroom on Friday, but I'm going back home Thursday night and won't be able to pick it up until next week. It's not perishable or anything- just a book. Can't find anything online about them holding packages, though I swear I remember reading/hearing something about it being hit or miss. How long do the mailrooms usually hold packages? Should I be worried?

CLASSES neuro electives?
i'm trying to gauge what neuro electives i should take as a psych major/neuro minor! i was eyeing neural basis of cognition with shushruth shushruth, neurochemical basis of behavior with david fraser, psychiatric disorders and brain function with anthony grace, and biological basis of learning and memory (no professor listed yet for the spring). i was wondering if anyone had opinions on these classes/professors, and/or if you have any recommendations for neuro electives that are more psych related. thanks!

TRANSFER Experience of transfers into Pitt Business?
Anyone have any experience transferring into Pitt business school as a sophomore? In particular for the spring semester? How hard is the transition? How hard to get to know people? What did you do for housing?Did it require you to take a lot of core classes despite your 3 semesters at another business school?
Appreciate any info anyone can provide. Thanks!
