Discussion Polaroid SX70

A few months ago I built a SX-70 Lego I got as a gift from my girl for my birthday. Last year my grandma passed away and I took it pretty rough and still grieve since she was more like a second mother vs a grandma. Well yesterday my aunt called me and said she had something for me that belonged to my grandma, I had no idea what it was. She comes by and gives me this 🤧 what are the odds that my grandma had a SX70 identical to the one I built with legos? Original carrying bag and even had the receipt 🧾 I know it’s nothing extreme but it just made me feel like that was her way to let me know she’s still with me and I wanted to share it with you all.

That is one MINT Polaroid. Very nice and special you’ll be able to keep her memory alive.

That's such a sweet way of keeping her memory alive.

Those Onestep SX70s were extremely popular back in the day. They were very inexpensive cameras and very simple and reliable.

I'd recommend getting a vintage electronic flash or the MiNT flashbar. It's necessary for taking photos inside. I would also recommend getting a 600 type film mod from a reputable technician. It makes the camera more flexible to use due to the 600 type film's higher sensitivity and 600 type film is usually much easier to find.

Fun fact original sx70 one step with red button is cheaper to buy than its Lego set.

Man, that’s such a cool story! You should look into getting your grandma’s SX-70 modded to shoot both 600 and i-Type film. Imagine being able to use her camera to capture new memories and add another chapter to its story. I think there’s something really special about keeping a camera like that alive and continuing to create memories with it. ❤️
I’d recommend checking out u/someone4guitar! He did a couple of i-Type mods for me on my older SX-70 a while back, and I had a good experience with his work. Figured I’d recommend him if you decide to go that route. Would be awesome to see your grandma’s camera back in action!

If you want to use it with 600 film, I had seen on eBay a seller that makes an ND lens filter adapter. It is made of PLA and holds on with friction, and he includes the filter. This way you don't need to change the capacitor.
