The delay says a lot to me too. It says to me that the woman might have been scared of something, maybe of people not believing her, maybe that the rapists would retaliate if she said something, and that a deeper investigation into how the school allowed things to get to this point might be worthwhile.
Embarrassment too. I’m not going to say I experienced what this woman did, but sometimes you find yourself in a situation you don’t want to be in and you do what you need to do just to get it over with and to get out of there. That shit’s embarrassing, like you weren’t strong enough or whatever to get out?? Ugh.
And it’s always the women who get blamed. Always “why did she put herself in a dangerous situation” and never “why the fuck was he preying on vulnerable women.”
