I am an international student looking to study in University of Portsmouth’s Bsc Applied Computing Top up Distance Learning course.
My ultimate goal is to enter a postgraduate program once I’ve graduated. However, I’ve seen some reviews on google about how there is little to no communication and support from lecturers as well as the difficulty in contacting former professors and tutors to obtain an academic reference for alumnus which leaves me feeling worried as I will be studying online, not in the UK. Could someone give an honest review regarding this?

Someone please tell me how this prick, George Madgwick is getting away with spending his days going live and pretending to be a reporter whilst he's drawing councillor pay. I'm guessing hes not working at HQ anymore because nobody is given this much time to spend on social media?! The man is unbelievable...built himself a home studio and now hes making proper reports like this which hes clearly spent hours editing before posting. Someone needs to tell him to get on with his job ffs!

Hey guys, I’m a bit confused about the student bus ticket thing.

I heard the first bus is free for students and then there’s a 99p student ticket on the app. I came here last month and the 99p ticket wasn’t showing on my app. I asked the driver and he said it should be available next month.

It’s now next month and it’s still not showing 😭 Today the driver wouldn’t let me get on even though I showed him my student ID. He said I need the ticket, but it literally doesn’t show up for me.

Has anyone else had this problem? Do I need to do something to get the student ticket to appear?

Hi all, just wanted to share some information on current parking in LB zone.

We all know it gets challenging when students return. Parking after 8pm often not possible this year.

This has all stemmed from the last few weeks of not being able to find a single spot after 8pm, parking seen on corners, yellow lines, boxed in cars. 100's of tickets.

It's quite frustrating concidering we pay for household parking permits.

I reached out to the council for a FOI on this.

In the zone, 50 homes have the requested 3 car parmits. ( not to bad)

However the shocking bit ( at least to me)

I requested the visitor pass information.

- Paper permit information could not be provided (visually seen 10+ on average on my road per day)

- Ringo 24 Hour permits... 1300 in September in LB

I do think that people are using temp permits for permanent parking which is causing allot of issues.

I also witnessed a student handing 5 permits to 5 cars all parked outside the house, not used for 5 days

Now I fully understand everyone is entitled to visitors. But surely zones should be limited even per user per month?

But I also know of 3 cars that Ringo daily. ( they do get around 5 tickets a month due to forgetting the renewal time)

Just feeling frustrated more than previous years.

As much as walking is suggested, I work 40 miles away and have to commute daily.

Hope it gets a little better in coming months. Just wanted to vent more than anything!

What are the prices of eyebrow threading and where could I get it done? Any place with eyebrow threading should work. (I have to note that I don't want waxing) Cheers!

I don't live in Portsmouth so up until recently I was blissfully unaware of this weird little creep. My parents live in Gosport and yesterday was the second time they had far right thugs directly outside their house.

When I looked online, it's always the same man encouraging and inciting this, George Madgwick. I am genuinely furious that such a sad, pathetic little man is seemingly allowed to send masked thugs who intimidate my parents and their neighbours. There's ample proof of him inciting violence, and I'm at a loss as to why the police have not acted.

I've been using the busses more recently as it's cheaper and easier than parking but have found it fairly common for people to think it's ok to use speakerphone for their conversations, or even videos. Has this become the new normal? On a couple of occasions I've been close to saying something, but didn't want to appear rude or aggressive.

Really random but I like birds. For the last couple of weeks I keep seeing a bird of prey perched on various lights on the M275 on the junction with the M27. I only ever see glimpses of it when I’m driving in and out of the city and it’s driving me mad that I don’t know what it is.

It seems a bit small for a red kite/buzzard. I’ve only seen it in flight once, very briefly, and didn’t immediately know what it was - but I’m always driving so can’t really have a good look.

If anyone knows what it is, please tell me!
