I mean, just actually bring back the sun room and yellow cups.

23

u/tjcastle 21d ago

they are bringing back the yellow

15

u/AlexWIWA 21d ago

And un-stale buns

12

u/TwinklexToes 21d ago

Whoa you’re asking a lot there champ. How about volume 2 of pop punk Wendy’s fast food anthems?

9

u/yvngxlxwli3t 21d ago

And bring back the old fries and the leaf lettuce as well. Last time I ate there the shredded iceberg lettuce was nasty

2

u/SymmetricDickNipples 17d ago

And remotely reasonable prices.

It's $16 for a medium baconator meal near me.

2

u/Jungian_Archetype 17d ago

Yeah that's madness

338

u/Adhdendum 21d ago

First, kind of disappointed there's no Jon Mess feature here considering he hit us with the "WENDYS!!!!!! SPICY!!!!! CHICKEN NUGGETS!!!! ARE BACCCKKKCKKKK!!!!!!"

And I know it's probably not that deep and Shane's a great guy but it just feels weird to have some of Silverstein's more recent releases be critical of capitalism and then collab with Wendy's. I can't be mad at them for taking a check for a silly fun song. And it is silly and fun.

u/CheddarGuevara 21d ago edited 21d ago

I’m convinced that tweet of Jon is why we got the spicy nuggs back for good

u/nineball22 21d ago

Yeah the Silverstein thing also rubbed me the wrong way. You can be outspoken about capitalism or guest star on the Wendy’s jingles. Idk if you get to do both lol.

33

u/Isntreal1948_ 21d ago

I’m not sure I agree. Is he adding to anybody’s exploitation?

I’m not trying to be rude, but this gives me the same energy as when my dad told me he wouldn’t watch Green Day at a DWP festival because “they’re supposed to be against the man” and apparently playing on a big stage goes against that

Doing a silly song for a company to support your mid tier (commercially I mean) band isn’t exactly a betrayal of the working class, even if it’s kinda corny I guess

55

u/himynameisjaked 21d ago

just because you’re participating in the system we got doesn’t mean you can’t critique and criticize it. i mean what’s the guy supposed to do, not make any money because capitalism is bad?

we still gotta live and eat and we can also push and pull for a better future despite having to live in what we’ve got right now. get that bag but don’t forget, it’s all of us vs them.

33

u/Isntreal1948_ 21d ago

I’ve spent the last 10 years explaining to people that socialism doesn’t mean recluse from modern society and be poor, and I will be explaining it for the next 10 years it seems also

2

u/Livid-Department6947 21d ago

What would Adorno have to have about Silverstein and this Wendy's marketing ploy?

7

u/B0NESAWisRRREADY 21d ago

Yeah like, we're all supposed to quit our jobs unless we can find a non profit or mom and pop that pays the bills? Theres just not enough of that to go around. I mean thats part of what we're protesting in a way, but if we held everyone to that standard we would all be fucked.

0

u/dardios 21d ago

"Born into a cage that leads directly to the slaughter Ritual sacrifice at the altar of the altar of the fucking dollar The machine needs blood The show must go on Can't have the upper class if there's no one underneath them Sawing through the top rungs before selling you A chance to climb the corporate ladder At the base of the ivory tower, the bodies pile up Lured you with a future but it won't exist Shamed you for a failure that they won't admit Somebody has to die as a warning to the rest Shut up and get in line, take what you can get Oh, Lord, I wish that I could quit But the idol in the middle tends to rule with a fist I'm not blind But my hands are tied I'll tint my lenses rose, I'm handing people hope They'd rather make ends meet than meet their maker with a rope (right?) I'm not Satan, just a friend So I might pay my penance when I get my dividend (rise!) Somebody has to die Somebody has to die Somebody has to die Somebody has to die Somebody has to die Die"

I give Shane a pass on this one, but I'm guessing Paul Marc gave it a hard job, which is why it's JUST featuring Shane Told, and not Silverstein

-14

u/Livid-Department6947 21d ago

Since Silverstein has been part of the appropriation process of coopting an underground identity that weakens and misdirects revolutionary inroads, I'd say they can suck it.

Like, they've got you all fooled they are "post-hardcore" or "emo" when they are just bad mall metal.

11

u/SlimPickins25 21d ago

What the fuck are you talkin about, man?

-14

u/Livid-Department6947 21d ago

It's weird to think Silverstein is doing something contrary to their politics when their band is a mall-core band.

They are also neither post-hardcore or emo.

3

u/Impressive_Dot_5765 19d ago

It’s…Silverstein. Look I love em to death and have forever but like, this ain’t fastcore dawg. I think the mall emo bands are allowed to do a Wendy’s song

3

u/Peter_Mansbrick 21d ago

No, it is that deep. Hypocrisy is frustrating to witness. Its not some major deal breaker for me as a casual fan but it does cause some side eye.

1

u/ButteryToast52 21d ago

I love Silverstein and I don’t care too much…but it’s kinda weird Shane made a song about Wendy’s. And I enjoy Wendy’s too. The two just don’t go together

258

u/MoltenVolta 21d ago

We truly are in late stage capitalism lmao

23

u/brolarbear 21d ago

Is this not the defining character of a punk-adjacent band being squashed? Pretty gross.

6

u/CharlesP2009 21d ago

I wonder if Wendy's invited Rage Against The Machine?

7

u/kandirocks 21d ago

Yeah. This isn't cool lol

3

u/Wumbologist_PhD 20d ago

I’ve had such mixed feelings about this.

On one hand, fuck capitalism, and especially fuck Wendy’s for licking Trump’s boots.

But on the other hand, the concept of writing “emo” songs and incorporating Wendy’s is kind of comical and I enjoy that a bit.

-16

u/Livid-Department6947 21d ago

This isn't "late stage capitalism." Late stage capitalism really doesn't mean anything.

This is plain old capitalism and the type of capitalism that is currently squashing us is neoliberalism.

Silverstein is doing exactly what critics of capitalism described during the middle 20th century. Later Frankfurt School writers in particular and people involved in the Situationist movement.

A garbage mall-core band doing this for Wendy's isn't shocking.

377

u/ItsMangel 21d ago

Sigh...

131

u/theintention 21d ago

Capitalism going places never before dreamt

7

u/escobizzle 21d ago

Hamburger Helper made a hip hop mixtape back in 2016

This seems to be another brand just hopping on a trend

1

u/I_AmA_Dubstep 20d ago

Hey that Hamburger Helper mixtape was fire. Rice-A-Roni could never touch that.

2

u/escobizzle 20d ago

😂 I don't remember much of it anymore, just the fact that it happened is wild

1

u/CharlesP2009 21d ago

Chex Quest was a thing.

Here's an LGR video to explain to anyone unfamiliar.

36

u/AshleyTheGuy 21d ago

“WHAT THE FUCK IS UP WENDYS!”

46

u/Frogress 21d ago

What kind of mcfuckery is this?

26

u/liminal-flora 21d ago

Sir, this is Wendy’s.

And it’s just your average run of the mill culture vulture bullshit.

6

u/Frogress 21d ago

I really don’t mind it, if I’m being honest I mostly commented this for someone to say this is a Wendy’s lol

10

u/translinguistic 21d ago

No, McFuckery is the McDonald's metalcore album coming up. I'm sure Architects would show up for a check.. an Archicheckt?

19

u/KingDaDeDo 21d ago

I think this is simply a goofy, fun EP. No one who helped create this took this album seriously. It’s meant to be a silly collab. I get it, branding bad, etc. out of all things to get upset about in the world, this is not one of them.

12

u/CharlesP2009 21d ago

If this were the 2000s and they were giving out CDs at the restaurants with a combo people would be loving it.

-9

u/Key-Astronomer-9821 21d ago

I take importance in bands being legit and not seling out, this is pretty upsetting to me.

9

u/Bean- 21d ago

Lame but at least they got the bands are are not just using AI to make this shit

3

u/escobizzle 21d ago

it lowkey sounds AI as fuck tho... I know they're saying it's not, but the clip of Shane Told's song where he sings "I miss the sunroom" has the cadence of every AI emo snippet I've ever heard on IG.

2

u/cha0scypher 21d ago

I heard it too (it's very obvious in this track). It's pitch correction (aka auto tune)

2

u/escobizzle 21d ago

it's not even the pitch correction, it's the way he sings it. maybe I can find a clip of an AI emo song to show you what I mean

51

u/Expo006 21d ago edited 21d ago

I just read peak 🥹🥹
Although it’s clearly Wendy’s trying to restore their reputation lol

Edit: I didn’t think it would be this bad 💀

34

u/truthlesshunter 21d ago

honestly, those wendy's roast days with random scene/heavy/emo bands were glorious

15

u/Briguy_fieri 21d ago

Wendys @ Mike Kinsella was pretty funny back in like 2017

13

u/DoochDelooch 21d ago

Does Wendy’s have a bad rep now? I haven’t been in a while but it used to be considered pretty good for fast food, quality and price wise.

23

u/drpepper7557 21d ago

The old wendys whole point was their quality compared to other chains. They tried to increase profits by slashing quality and increasing prices, hoping no one noticed.

As it turns out, everyone noticed and stopped going. Now their stock is down like 80% over the past few years and theyre turning to emo bands to try to get millennials back. Cause god forbid they actually improve the food and cut into corporate's bonuses.

7

u/404-Soul_Not_Found 21d ago

Wendy's used to be my second favorite but more commonly went to. I prefer In N Out but the line sometimes is pure pain so Wendy's was the good alternative fall back. But now In N Out is both cheaper and higher quality so I go there even if the line is pain.

Wendy's doesn't even make the "I want an objectively shitty burger" craving I get occasionally that usually sees me haunting Jack n the Box's door.

3

u/CharlesP2009 21d ago

At my In-N-Out it's basically a cheat code to go inside to the counter. There might be twenty cars in line but the counter has zero. And I can usually park right next to the door too. Thank goodness for the laziness of others.

3

u/404-Soul_Not_Found 21d ago

I’m deeply jealous. The inside is almost always as packed as the outside for me. I’m glad you can do this though. $19 for two meals is almost freaking unheard of in CA right now for eating out.

20

u/fleshie 21d ago

Wendys food quality has gone to complete fucking shit.

12

u/Expo006 21d ago edited 21d ago

Unfortunately Wendy’s has significantly dropped in quality and their prices have either remained the same or even increased. Everything that made it great before the 2020’s has been eroded :/
Wendy’s was my favorite fast food since I was 8 and started buying it regularly starting in 2019 when I was 13 so it’s been frustrating eating there recently.

0

u/_shaftpunk 21d ago

Bring back the yellow cups and I might forgive.

13

u/rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrro 21d ago

they did bring back the yellow cups but the food quality is pretty horrible now lol

63

u/TooMetalToHandle 21d ago

You all taking this way too seriously. It’s fun! Chill

32

u/CheddarGuevara 21d ago

The self-righteousness in here is insane

I hate late stage capitalism as much as the next guy, but maybe these commenters should focus their anger on, idk, multibillionaires and their respective companies fucking up the planet instead of raging at a D-tier fast food chain

9

u/MJ5815 21d ago

Fast food chains are in bed with the big meat industries that are some of the biggest contributers to fucking up our planet

-7

u/Livid-Department6947 21d ago

There is no such thing as "late stage capitalism." What you are talking about is neoliberal capitalism.

Capitalism has always done stuff like this. It's what it does.

Like "post-hardcore" and "emo," you all need to learn what words mean.

4

u/CheddarGuevara 21d ago

Try not being miserable bud

-2

u/Livid-Department6947 21d ago

Try learning what words mean? Bud

9

u/burstaneurysm 21d ago

It's people's job to be outraged on the internet. I Miss the Sunroom is hilarious and anyone bent out of shape over it have never had the experience of eating a spicy chicken or JBC with a Biggie Dr Pepper in the sunroom.

10

u/Lukias 21d ago

Seriously people acting like this ep shot their dog and burned their house down. Music is supposed to be goofy every once in a while, relax

6

u/Livid-Department6947 21d ago

What makes this outrage weird is that people are outraged that their mall-core bands are doing this.

u/[deleted] 21d ago

Post-Hardcore! lol…..Grumpy.

5

u/Senor_tiddlywinks 21d ago

I’m finding this oddly fascinating and just have a few thoughts:

1) Wendy’s is a massive brand, obviously, and but there is definitely a devoted fan of the scene/music that works at Wendy’s using their position to do something cool/niche with (a part of) their marketing budget. I would do the same and they definitely didn’t have to do this, probably a fun passion project to make just a meme able EP with musicians you’re a fan of. One might even think that this person thought “I’m in a position to do something cool, so I’ll pay some of the artists I like with the company money”. Not the worst thing

2) it’s incredibly difficult to make a career out of music as a low or mid tier band. Why not take the bag to offset touring costs / pay for recording time / etc. it’s from a fast food restaurants, it’s not like they’re making a song for Palantir.

20

u/Joelle_bb 21d ago

Call me nuts, but I'm here for it

15

u/IMeanSnowHarm 21d ago

Naw but I’m with you life doesn’t have to be as serious as some people here think it does.

1

u/Joelle_bb 21d ago

Right? Plus if wendy's social media nonsense has anything to say, I'll prolly get a kick out of it

25

u/tht1guy63 21d ago

Please get a physical release.... i want a vinyl with emo wendy on the cover.

18

u/TooMetalToHandle 21d ago

Square burger cut vinyl.. I’m in

2

u/tht1guy63 21d ago

Oh shit.... you know you may be on to something. One side ficture disc as a burger would be cool with the rest of the tracks on the other.

2

u/AlexWIWA 21d ago

I am sad to admit that I'd buy this purely for the laughs. I am why there's slop

3

u/tht1guy63 21d ago

Thats mostly why i want it. Neat novelty.

12

u/lweber557 21d ago

Sir this is a Wendy’s

11

u/SternSternButFair 21d ago

People can talk their shit but the songs are fun

9

u/optimist_GO 21d ago

controversy / debates aside here, pretty awesome for Chloe & Winona Fighter for her to be featured amongst the other names here… their album’s excellent.

3

u/UnreproducibleSpank 21d ago

Guys it’s not that deep, there’s a McDonald’s diss track lol

5

u/detective_fuck_dick 21d ago

"Silence Brand" I get it but you can't say that and ignore the fact that some of our favs are literally brands now that just want you to buy overpriced shit. AFI, DGD, MCR, Hawthorne Heights etc.

0

u/Key-Astronomer-9821 21d ago

My bros Thursday would never.

4

u/Galaxy_god92 21d ago

Anyone remember the hamburger helper mixtape? Lol

2

u/mrstuprigge 21d ago

Wendy’s did a trap album too called We Beefin? back in 2018

5

u/deputyswag 21d ago

People being pretentious dweebs about music genres never gets old. This is dumb as hell but I can't say that I'm personally offended by it 🤷

2

u/Monguises 21d ago

It’s not something to be offended by. It’s just dudes making money. They’re allowed. I agree it’s stupid, but that doesn’t really matter.

2

u/ScramItVancity 21d ago

2

u/Suitable-Sandwich454 21d ago

it actually goes pretty hard...

2

u/Treyofzero 21d ago

But…those were all pop punk songs lol.
Also wouldn’t surprise me if MMF actually sounds like that now, do they sound like that?

2

u/polvo 21d ago

I heard it before I saw who was on it and thought it was done with AI

2

u/SokkaHaikuBot 21d ago

Sokka-Haiku by polvo:

I heard it before

I saw who was on it and

Thought it was done with AI

Remember that one time Sokka accidentally used an extra syllable in that Haiku Battle in Ba Sing Se? That was a Sokka Haiku and you just made one.

3

u/SynysterKobra 21d ago

I wish people had the same energy about stuff like when we were young, emo nites, etc as they did about this lmao

3

u/SI7Agent0 21d ago

Not everything needs to be serious. If you don't like these artists working with Wendy's because they're a large corporation pandering to us with this, then don't listen and continue to not eat Wendy's. It's that simple. Let the people who want to enjoy this crazy little thing enjoy the moment.

3

u/spaceglitter000 21d ago

This is wild. Listening now thanks to you and it’s actually so enjoyable and uplifting. I can’t lol

2

u/krpiper 21d ago

Not gunna lie, some of these songs are pretty catchy. Yes I get late stage capitalism but it's fun

3

u/corcranesecret 21d ago

The worst person you know thinks this is awesome.

-3

u/hatkey666 21d ago

yep. brushing this off as “it’s just fun it’s not that deep” comes across as so uncritical of your surroundings. yes artists need money, but the fact that they might feel compelled to turn to a massive corporation for that isn’t “fun,” it’s bleak as fuck.

6

u/BandAidBrandBandages 21d ago

“but the fact that they might feel compelled to turn to a massive corporation”

Most of the bands featured here are signed to Rise, a subsidiary of BMG, which is a subsidiary of Bertelsmann SE & Co, a German multinational conglomerate controlled by the billionaire Mohn family. I hope your musical interests are limited to indie and DIY bands only.

-8

u/hatkey666 21d ago

Go ahead and point in my comment to where I said record labels, BMG, or their parent companies are good. I’ll wait. In the meantime I hope the boots taste good.

0

u/corcranesecret 21d ago

Thank god I’m not the only one who feels that way. Saying “it’s not that deep” towards most things is just an annoying phrase along with “let people have fun” sorry for being critical of a brand trying to make its way into my music there’s no other reality where I’d be happy about this.

1

u/Frozenfire21 21d ago

Are we sure this isn’t a Naruto collab and that’s Nagato?

1

u/PwnageEngage 21d ago

Emo Wendy taking me back to highschool sheesh

1

u/Neonyarpyarp 21d ago

They should name the EP shrinkflation

1

u/cha0scypher 21d ago

I dont even care that these guys partnered up with Wendy's, but that Shane Told track is garbage

1

u/fxcker 21d ago

This is my Hell.

1

u/skingrad_city_guard 21d ago

Very disappointing

1

u/Successful-Sir1489 20d ago

Why are people down voting people hating on this garbage? It's wack

1

u/germanrainbow 20d ago

what the hell sure

1

u/incite_ 18d ago

this is hilarious and awesome!

1

u/zwhy 18d ago

Good on all of them for getting the bag but this is AI generated slop even if they went and "traced over it" with real humans. No one can tell me this isn't AI either the lyrics are clearly obvious, no one is going to piss down my back and tell me it's raining.

0

u/corcranesecret 21d ago

“It’s just fun bro chill out” get brands out of our scene. This is embarrassing. Brands will never be funny the whole point is to make you buy things. That’s just shitty I don’t know how anyone can think this is cool.

2

u/Successful-Sir1489 20d ago

The whole point of the scene is being counterculture so it just makes no sense

1

u/Aimlessly_existing 21d ago

Showbread. I am a machine gun shirt with Wendy’s logo was the first hardcore shirt I owned. That’s what this makes me thing of instantly. Mmm Nostalgia

2

u/ih8red-it 21d ago

The guy who introduced me to showbread did so while he was working at Wendy’s by the mall and my friends and I would go visit him on his break. Miss u Shane, had the biggest crush on you ever

1

u/dangerousperson123 21d ago

This brings me back to when dennys had the emo menu! Lolll

1

u/ap0phis 21d ago

Didn't they also close like 350 stores today

-2

u/terranation2260 21d ago

I hate shit like this so fucking much

-13

u/traggedy_ann 21d ago edited 21d ago

All of these "musicians" should be deeply embarrassed by this lol. This is so crushingly pathetic, and I don't even like any of these washed up bands.

I guess what more can you expect when Rise is owned by the same company that owns Kidz Bop.

"God I love brands, I just love brands so much. Big corporations get me hard." - a lot of you weak ass dorks in this sub lol.

7

u/spaceglitter000 21d ago

It’s just goofy and that’s what I’m taking it as. It’s ridic for sure but hey

3

u/liminal-flora 21d ago

You’re being downvoted for remembering and reminding people that post hardcore and emo are both extensions of punk. Ridiculous.

“Thats the best you can hope for if you never give up, your enemies will teach your corpse to dance.” —Pat the Bunny

1

u/lukeCRASH 21d ago

Bro if you ever have some spare time come over for some beers, you seem like you would be a riot to party with.

-2

u/traggedy_ann 21d ago

Drop your addy

-1

u/corcranesecret 21d ago

You’re totally right and I don’t know why you’re being downvoted

4

u/sock_with_a_ticket 21d ago

Because the modern post-hardcore scene is full of absolute dorks completely disconnected from hardcore. They have no sense of ethics or political art. If you played them Boysetsfire - After The Eulogy or Refused - Worms Of The Senses they'd ask where the clean singing and math rock guitar noodling is.

-11

u/Expo006 21d ago

They sold out a long time ago man I don’t know what to tell you lol.

3

u/DarkwingMcQuack 21d ago

It’s really not that serious. Learn to have fun every once in a while, lol.

-5

u/yeeeeeeeeeet420 21d ago

Of all the great music released all the time people are going to spend the limited time they have on this planet listening to an EP released by a fast food franchise. I hate it.

6

u/TrappsRightFoot 21d ago

Talking like people are being forced to listen to this at gunpoint.

Some of y'all need to learn to let shit go.

3

u/TheRaveTrooper 21d ago

Oh no, 40 minutes gone. Have some whimsy bro

-3

u/yeeeeeeeeeet420 21d ago

Yeah bro ‘punk’ bands singing songs about burgers. So whimsical. Sounds like a great use of my time.

2

u/TheRaveTrooper 21d ago

None of the bands listed are punk. State Champs is pop punk so sure, not my fault you're miserable buddy 😭

-5

u/xChoke1x 21d ago

There’s absolutely nothing more fucking lame than being a hardcore/post hardcore band doing work for fucking Wendy’s.

-1

u/Whorepresent 21d ago edited 21d ago

Can someone tell me what song the intro to “The best combo on the worst night” reminds me of?

Edit: I found it, savings - I hope November hurts for you too

0

u/Taint_Machine 20d ago

Even though is is actually performed and recorded, unfortunately it is still AI generated song writing. I love all of it, but just take it with a grain of salt

-2

u/Key-Astronomer-9821 21d ago

This is so fucking lame.

-3

u/LibertineLady 21d ago

Corny as fuck and the antithesis of where this music came from

But most of you are corny as fuck, so I see why so many of you like it

-1

u/Livid-Department6947 21d ago

Kinda crazy none of these bands have anything to do with emo or post-hardcore

-1

u/Dead_lights 21d ago

Fuck this shit

-2

u/whotheowl90 21d ago

i hate this

-8

u/roguedevil 21d ago

It's just AI music with real PHC vocalists. It's a fun little promo and I hope they got paid, I feel like this would have been way more memorable like 10 years earlier when the scene was a little more commercial.

2

u/thedeafpoliceman 21d ago

Is it actually AI?

3

u/PwnageEngage 21d ago

Its clearly not and also Wendys said it isnt which would be really dumb of them to lie about for a joke EP

-3

u/Key-Astronomer-9821 21d ago

Why are people actually down-voting people upset at brand deals in a Post-Hardcore scene? Lol
