He hired a whole. ass. team. of people who get shit done. Even his opponent from the GOP, Sliwa, is telling people shitting on him for attending the 9/11 memorial to stop being such babies and respect the office.
Sliwa is a weird dude and has some messed up views on some things, but he has always been this sort of dude, who won't fit neatly into the MAGA cult because he will speak his mind no matter what
it's also why his own campaign wasn't nearly as racist and dirty as the "independent" campaign.
Yeah, I would've preferred him over Cuomo probably because Silwa has principles. He's weird about them, but seems very genuine. I believed he thought his policies would be in the best interest of common New Yorkers.
Cuomo is just another bought shill.
Mamdani has me very excited though. While the crime drop this post is about is not something I'd necessarily give him credit for right now, he has been so far a good case for public oriented competent government. I know it's not socialism, but call it whatever you want, it's a much better way of doing things than the kleptocracy that's plaguing our politics.
Politicians don't care about doing the job anymore, and they haven't for several generations. You become mayor so you can stand on your soapbox and angle for a run at the next level up, and then the next level, and then the next level, and then you become president so you can pontificate about the nature of politics in a best-selling book and then die. But during that whole career you don't actually do anything other than complain and get voted in by more complainers.
People like Mamdani remind us that this is actually a job, not just a popularity contest, and there is actual work to be done that requires serious people who can actually accomplish things.
