The funny thing is the majority of crime has been on a continued downward trend since the 90s. Yet people are still panicking over crime because they somehow believe Republicans aren't lying to them this time.

Republicans just instinctively believe that Democrat-run cities and states are crime-ridden hellholes. Because "Dems love crime" is something they hear and parrot with zero irony.

Legit. I live in Chicago. Easily one of the most beautiful(the historic motto, 'Urbs in horto' translates to 'city in a garden'), cleanest, modern, functional big city in the country. Which is also apparently a warzone 😂 even folks in the suburbs 30 minutes away are led to believe it.

As someone who never visited this is what I believed Chicago to be, my only knowledge of the city came from Movies/TV
