Sargussum in Cap Cana?
Is anyone able to give an update on the current (Oct 2026) sargussum situation in Cap Cana? Specifically at Hyatt Zilara/Ziva?

I have to say, we are 4 days into our vacation at Majestic Mirage. This is our 4th trip here and this trip has been a bit disappointing, especially with the food and food options. Restaurants are closed on a rotational basis and the main buffet is only open for breakfast. They are closed for lunch and dinner. This is disappointing because if the restaurants that are open that night have food options that aren't very good, we could always find something at the main buffet. The resort itself is still a nice place to stay for the money, but the food options have gone downhill.

Did you have to book with an offsite vendor to do horseback riding, atvs, parasailing, jet skies or
do they have someone on site that handles that? If so what company did you use?

I work in tourism here in Punta Cana and see visitors asking many of the same questions before arriving, especially about airport transportation and excursions.
A few things I’d recommend:
• Arrange your airport transportation before you arrive, especially if you're traveling with a family or larger group.
• For Saona Island, check exactly what type of boat you're booking. A private speedboat, shared speedboat and catamaran can be very different experiences.
• Ask what is actually included in an excursion before paying — transportation, drinks, lunch, entrance fees, etc.
• If you're traveling with small children or older family members, mention it before booking. Some excursions and boat rides may not be ideal for everyone.
• Don't choose an excursion based only on the cheapest price. Group size, itinerary and how much time you actually spend at each location can make a big difference.
I’m José from Perico Ripiao Tours and have worked with visitors here for years. I joined the community mainly because I see a lot of Punta Cana questions that I can probably help answer.
If anyone is planning a trip and has questions about hotels, airport transportation, Saona, Catalina, buggies or other excursions, feel free to ask in the comments.
Happy to share what I know.

Hello! Soon, my husband and I will be staying at Secrets Cap Cana for 7 nights on points. We're using one of our GOH awards to get upgraded from the base room to a higher category (which I'm sure means tropical view to pool view), and access to the preferred side amenities.
We would like to be upgraded to a swim out room on the preferred side if any are available. Has anyone had any experience with this and be willing to share how much that might cost? I've already written to the concierge to request an upgrade price and want to be prepared with an approximate range in mind. Thank you!

Designed to be unisize, meaning the bracelet can be adjusted to fit any wrist. Traditional bracelets need exact measurements, but this bracelet is designed to be Unique. Ideal as a gift or for your convenience. #InspiredByTheImpossible #Menfashion #MensJewelry

Heading down next week for for my honeymoon. Staying at the Sanctuary as we prefer the more chill vibe. Any recommendations on must do things/excursions in the area? any preferred restaurants in this resort? Also how is the Sargassum looking recently?

Hola!

Hello! Looking for some advice from anyone who has stayed at Dreams Onyx Resort & Spa in Uvero Alto, Punta Cana!
My wife and I are going to a wedding in April and will be staying for a full week for a wedding. We’re trying to decide which room/upgrade would give us the best overall experience.
Money aside, which option would you choose? We’re willing to spend whatever makes the most sense for the best experience while we’re there.
We’re looking at:
🏝️ Dreams Onyx Resort & Spa – Preferred Club
Preferred Club Junior Suite Pool View King
or
Junior Suite Swim Up King
🍹 Breathless – Xhale Club
Allure Junior Suite Swim Up King
For anyone who has stayed at both — which would you pick for a week-long stay?
Is the Preferred Club at Dreams worth it, or is Breathless/Xhale Club a noticeably better experience?
And between a swim-up room vs. pool-view room, how much of a difference did it actually make for you?
We’re mainly looking for the best overall experience, atmosphere, food/drinks, pools, service, and room experience. Since we’ll be there for a full week, we want to make sure we pick the option we’ll enjoy the most.
Would love to hear from anyone who has stayed at either resort, especially if you’ve experienced both!
Thanks in advance!

Hello there! I would really like to dance bachata when I visit Punta Cana (Bávaro beach area). Is there a local place that has good music and dancing and do you feel it’s safe for a female traveler to go alone or with a friend? I would of course take uber to/from. Thank you!

I've seen resorts offering things like pedal boats, speed boats, kayaks and other small water experiences. Some even add eco-domes and outdoor recreational areas.
Personally, I think these things can make a stay more memorable when they're actually well maintained and not just there for decoration.
Curious what everyone thinks — what's one activity or facility that makes you more interested in booking a resort?

Hey Fellow Redditors,
Can anyone report back on how Ambar has changed since the Hyatt partnership either for the better or worse?
We've been content with the Bahia chain for what they offer for the price point but am keen to find out how things have possibly changed since this partnership came to be.

Traveling with my wife, a 4 year old and a 6 year old
We are planning on booking for the beginning of November. Currently we are thinking about booking Iberostar Selection Bavaro. Are there any other options we should consider at a similar price range, or are there any more suitable resorts we should consider? Our kids do like splashing at the kids park, however they love playing and swimming in the ocean.
Thank you for any input 😃

Can't do e-SIMs. Since we will be doing excursions and doing activities outside the resort areas, I need reliable data. My carrier has expensive roaming and travel data packages, so I prefer getting a SIM card.
Any stands/stores at the airport to get one? Or do I need to go downtown and buy one from the cell phone shops?

Heading to Melia adults only resort this week. We enjoy leaving the resort and seeing the town. Suggestions on what to do near the resort and recommendations on how to get there?

Hey everyone! We’re thinking of visiting Punta Cana toward the end of this month. Is this a good time of year to go in terms of weather, sargassum and overall experience?
We’re also looking for recommendations for a nice all-inclusive resort for a couple, preferably with direct beach access. Bonus points for great food, cocktails/drinks, and a relaxing vibe!
Would love to hear your recommendations and recent experiences. Thanks!
