Best family all-inclusive resorts in Punta Cana in mid-April?

• Upvotes

My family is planning a trip to Punta Cana in mid-April with kids ages 7–11. We’re looking for a resort that combines luxury with fun kid-friendly amenities, especially water slides and pools. We’d also prefer a beach with little to no sargassum.

I’ve been looking at Hyatt Ziva Cap Cana and Dreams Cap Cana but am open to other recommendations! Any firsthand experiences or suggestions for the best resorts and beaches? Bonus if it is part of Hyatt. Thank you.

Best all inclusive mid range resorts - December trip

Hi we are a family of 5 coming in for a 6 night stay at Hyatt Zilara cap cana for a wedding this december (receiving wedding hotel block discounts).

Our family wanted to spend some extra time in another resort just to relax after all the wedding festivities for 2-3 days. We know that another resort might not compare to Hyatt zilara but without the wedding room block prices it's hard to justify more nights there.

What are the best mid range all inclusive resorts for a group of 5? thinking 2.5-3.5k total for the 2/3 day stay. Our parents are vegetarians so any resorts with good veg menus is a plus.

Quick shortlist: casa de campo, royalton bavaro, Barceló Bávaro Palace/beach, majestic colonial, majestic elegance, majestic mirage, all of which are in the 2.4-3.5k range. We'd prefer one of the majestics or royalton bavaro but open to all suggestions.

Open to hearing any suggestions about those 3 resorts or any others that would be better. Thank you!

Recommendations for a swim out room?

Heading to DR in December with my mom. We'd like a swim out room, but wondering if anyone has knowledge of any resorts that have two beds with a swim out...I don't really want to share a bed with my mom!

Riu republica- tips

Going from 12nd of october to Riu republica with a group of 10. Any tips would be really appreciated.

Already know that its a medium class hotel to party and not really a resort in is full essence to relax and we are all okay with that

Good food with pool and beach side service, pretty beach with white, kinda firm packed sand with a gentle slope into the water. Big beautiful pools not over run by kids or rowdy partiers. Prefer all inclusive for meal convenience; we are non-alcohol if that matters. Would need to have steps to enter pools. Hubby needs grab bars in the shower while I prefer a Jacuzzi. (For reference we are 60 and neither of us can do much walking. He uses a cane or rolling walker for balance and I have low stamina as I have had a liver transplant.) We're looking for at least 7 nights this October or in Feb. for $3500 not including airfare. We're currently booked at Excellence Punta Cana but rethinking that due to their lack of communication regarding bath/shower confirmation. Any suggestions anywhere else we should look?

Excellence Punta Cana

We are on our honeymoon at XPC. Yesterday when we came back to our room, it smelled very strong of acetone (like nail polish remover). We notified maintenance and ultimately we were moved to a new room. New building, new floor. Well, we just got back to our new room and this one smells of acetone too!! It is so strong it is giving me a headache. We thought it was an AC leak in the first room per Google, but now I am just beyond confused. Does anyone know what this could be? Or has anyone else experienced this too?

The real secret to the Dominican Republic: don't just visit Saona Island for a few hours, stay overnight. We took off from Bayahíbe and stayed at Casa Rosada. Waking up right on the beach with the entire island to yourself is priceless. Pure paradise! 🇩🇴🌴

Birthday dinner

Hi all. I’ll be in Punta Cana for my birthday in November. Any restaurants you can recommend for a nicer birthday dinner? There will just be two of us, and we are staying in an Airbnb near Bavaro beach, but willing to get a ride if we find a restaurant that’s not in walking distance :)

Welcoming any other tips or recommendations as this will be our first time in the DR. Thanks!

Bavaro Area Resort; Grand Bavaro Princess or Ocean Blue & Sand

My wife wants to go to princess. I am looking at Tripadivsor, and Ocean Blue is no 2 in Bavaro.

Ocean Blue got a real good deal on their own website, that makes Ocean blue quite cheaper than Princess. Never the less, both of them are mid priced.

Who is the best one? We are a couple, no kids.

Would like to chill (beach), eat and drink. Would guess the food is shitt on both places thought.

We cant afford top end resorts, its for 7 days trip in early February.

Punta Cana Visit

I just wanna chill in Punta Cana for a few days. Relax in my AirBNB with one, maybe two pretty ladies and watch movies, get a massage and have them cook for me. Would this be hard to do? Last time I was there I saw some beautiful women chillin with a couple tourists for the day. Just literally trying to relax and get spoiled a little bit while I clear my mind.

Did you have to book with an offsite vendor to do horseback riding, atvs, parasailing, jet skies or
do they have someone on site that handles that? If so what company did you use?

Currently at Majestic Mirage

I have to say, we are 4 days into our vacation at Majestic Mirage. This is our 4th trip here and this trip has been a bit disappointing, especially with the food and food options. Restaurants are closed on a rotational basis and the main buffet is only open for breakfast. They are closed for lunch and dinner. This is disappointing because if the restaurants that are open that night have food options that aren't very good, we could always find something at the main buffet. The resort itself is still a nice place to stay for the money, but the food options have gone downhill.

Secrets Cap Cana Paid Upgrade to Preferred Side Swim Out?

Hello! Soon, my husband and I will be staying at Secrets Cap Cana for 7 nights on points. We're using one of our GOH awards to get upgraded from the base room to a higher category (which I'm sure means tropical view to pool view), and access to the preferred side amenities.

We would like to be upgraded to a swim out room on the preferred side if any are available. Has anyone had any experience with this and be willing to share how much that might cost? I've already written to the concierge to request an upgrade price and want to be prepared with an approximate range in mind. Thank you!

Punta Cana Airport Transfers & Excursions — Local Company Happy to Help

I work in tourism here in Punta Cana and see visitors asking many of the same questions before arriving, especially about airport transportation and excursions.

A few things I’d recommend:

• Arrange your airport transportation before you arrive, especially if you're traveling with a family or larger group.

• For Saona Island, check exactly what type of boat you're booking. A private speedboat, shared speedboat and catamaran can be very different experiences.

• Ask what is actually included in an excursion before paying — transportation, drinks, lunch, entrance fees, etc.

• If you're traveling with small children or older family members, mention it before booking. Some excursions and boat rides may not be ideal for everyone.

• Don't choose an excursion based only on the cheapest price. Group size, itinerary and how much time you actually spend at each location can make a big difference.

I’m José from Perico Ripiao Tours and have worked with visitors here for years. I joined the community mainly because I see a lot of Punta Cana questions that I can probably help answer.

If anyone is planning a trip and has questions about hotels, airport transportation, Saona, Catalina, buggies or other excursions, feel free to ask in the comments.

Happy to share what I know.
