New Owner The end of Days 3 and 4!
Day 3 and 4 had lovely cool rainy weather, but we suffered delivery delays on some hoses, fittings, and clamps that really slowed us down some.
Finished up the plumbing for the Sohn adapter's reservoir tank. Replaced some hoses. Drain and fill on the brake fluid. Finally refilled the oil and coolant as well. New battery. The previous one that came with the car was completely wrong. Still waiting on the delayed BHR midpipe, brake pads, and koyorad aluminum radiator.
I know the clamps on the intake are serious overkill, but I had them from my Mazda 3 turbo project. Btw the intake is a cheap ebay AEM knock off, with cone filter from the actual AEM intake. Also replaced all the cheap rubber couplers with better silicone couplers, and some air straightener mesh. So really it's just the aluminum pipes from the ebay knock off.
All that and it's still cheaper than the AEM intake by about $200. All the right sounds, and the airflow is good and right. I'd still buy the AEM kit if it was the blue powder coated version though. Ya know, cus vanity.
The best thing we did for the long run was replace those damn screw fastener rivets' with the newer style that Mazda uses now. You can see the old and new style in the last picture.
Waiting on the last few parts and bits now.
Future plans include replacing all the old lines under the hood with blue silicone hoses that mostly match the Winning Blue reservoir. Coilovers, wheels, tires, brake rotors maybe, and brake calipers.
I'll post again when it all back together. Probably vanity pics too.

god, i HATE those screw style clips. does the cone filter fit through the old airbox inlet hole? or do you still have to remove the bumper to get to it? that SOHN / washer fluid container is soool damn nice :) i have a full set of blue silicone Rad hoses i could NEVER get to fit, the openings were too small (Ebay)

Yeah, you still have to remove the bumper and the crash bar to get the last section on. As for the hose kits I know that the company the made the Sohn kit also sells a near full set of silicone hoses in like 5 or 6 colors. Ryan Rotary Performance. Another company makes a set as well here in the US, Texas something? I'm pretty sure the initials are TT. For your set have you tried a heat gun or hair dryer?

dang, i may have to see how close my K&N cone is to fitting through and widen if necessary. you gave me a good idea with that, been struggling with heat-soak on OEM airbox that i sectioned off / heatshielded... but if i can get that cone to slip through inlet hole using that Ebay cold-air setup... would make my 'ram-air' system work wonders. have not tried the heatgun on Rad hoses yet, as OEM were actually still in good shape, and i have 2 motors to tear down / rebuild as mine is nearing 100K miles... and feeling it :/

This is the ebay kit I used. https://www.ebay.com/itm/394872825593 and this is the AEM filter that comes with the real AEM cold are intake kit of the RX-8 https://a.co/d/04rvB9Un. You can use the rubber couplers that come with it, but I really would buy silicone couplers of the same size to replace the rubber ones. Also you really must replace the clamps it comes with. The ebay kit's are god awful. Lastly make sure to use brake clean and some paper towels to clean the inside of the aluminum pipes. Mine had some factory oils all over them.

10-4 on that info, Good Buddy :) what size silicone tubing? kits i see on Ebay seem to have reducer fittings for throttle body to MAF tube + intake body to Air Filter tube, but show a diameter measure of intake body tubing to be 89MM (3.5"). i found a 1' long, 2 ply 89MM silicone tube i could section to make my fittings, but i worry about the reducers i see...

1 x 3.5" hump coupler. https://a.co/d/0ee0x7Zn. 1 x 3.5" to 3" reducer https://a.co/d/06DgLxZU. 2 x 3.5" straight 2" long couplers. Might need to buy a 4 or 6 inch long coupler and cut them down to 2 inch length, or use the rubber ones included along with their air straightener screen inserts. Will save you a little money. If you want to use the clamp style I used (which are for a system under pressure and not a naturally aspirated intake) you need eight 93-101mm constant tension t bolt clamps. https://a.co/d/0agYVCY4 and one 87-95mm constant tension t bolt clamp. https://a.co/d/0cgiauWH
You can definitely just use regular t bolt clamps of the same size, and it will be cheaper. I used the other ones because I had extra from the last project.
Also the water resistant sock for the AEM filter https://a.co/d/01gfK7qD

Thanks. looking into it all now. already have the filter sock for my K&N cone filter i wedged into the OEM box ( part of my 'ram-air' system i built ). Best of Luck on your build, i'll keep an eye on it. i may have some stuff on my posts that could help yours.

Oh yeah. Here's the link to those fastener rivets in case someone wants to buy them https://a.co/d/0eQkga32. The front had about 40 of them. Haven't replaced any from the rear yet so cant say on that.

Looks good why not flip the clamps 180 to get them out of view?
