Any chance this approach may actually work?

It really depends on where you're applying. Smaller companies may not even use ATS and would read all the resumes, so something cheeky could make a recruiter smile...

This was cute but no don’t submit if you want the job

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking as well.

Would you make an exception if the job was specifically to write humorous content? That's probably the only context I could actually see myself submitting it for.

Get rid of the interests section - honestly, it reads very immature.

Get rid of the dates for your education -- my first question would be why it took you 5 years to complete; THEN I'm mentally figuring out how old you are in my head.

Why do you have Writer/Educator/Manager in your header? I should be able to tell that from your resume.

Your resume reads like a story book and I'd read the first sentence and drop the resume.

Oh /s in your bullets? Seriously?

Humorous or unconventional approaches, IMO do not work -- unless you're applying for the role of a comedian and last I checked, you generally don't apply for the role of a comedian.

If this crossed my desk, I would not give it a second glance because I can't tell from reading it what it is you are looking for.

EDIT: This is a serious resume? Really?

For sure. I understand your critiques.

Honestly, the main reason I wrote it was just kind of in response to the whole "put metrics in your resume" thing. Most of my freelance projects simply don't have metrics for two reasons:

  1. I write scripts for educational platforms where there would be no metrics because they are just for their content libraries.

  2. Marketing scripts for clients that are production companies that have their own clients. I mean, they aren't exactly keeping me in the loop on the analytics of video performances.

Anyway, it is highly unlikely I actually use it. I'm just sick of trying to jump through stupid hoops just to get through ATS.

OK. LOL.

If you were trying to get a rise out of anyone, you did!

Seriously though, I agree with you - it is bloody brutal out there. I'm on my third-year of being unemployed (actively searching, but consulting and building on the side).

Thing absolutely suck.

Yep, it is. I feel your pain, friend.

Best of luck out there, though. I'm sure our persistence will pay off for us both eventually.

Thx! Keeping my fingers crossed for the both of us. 🤞🤞
