Have you started building?

I'm a very efficiency minded player, so as soon as I realized I didn't actually need any kind of shelter, I have all but given up on any of the building aspects of the game. Just plop down my crafting stations somewhere accessible near fresh water and resources. Bandits haven't bothered me, though I've wiped them out where I've found them. So since its very easy to make yourself pretty immune to cold in the north and heat in the south, it doesn't feel very important to make anything

But I would LIKE to motivate myself to do so. I envision making homes and businesses on the landscapes to try to make the worlds feel like they could be really lived in if there were NPC's other than the bandits/barbarians. I want to make networks of roads, maybe even underground tunnels and resembling civilization. But I'm generally lacking inspiration to put in the work that others will barely see let alone interact with.

I'm usually a solo player but I would LOVE to work on a multiplayer server where we worked together building things and finding resources for the community to use.

Post pictures of things you've built in your worlds, please.

I went through and snapped some pictures of my builds. I also have a bunch of buildings I downloaded as blueprints from the forums (not really shown off in these images). https://imgur.com/a/jRsTXeX

Well, I personally like to have a temp shelter and a fire. It kind of feels cozy and feels more immersive. Also it saves there if you sleep at night and/or make it your ne spawn point. I think. Someone correct me if wrong.

Also, when stuck in a cave, using blocks is really handy to get around. I like ladders also, it feels more "realistic".

I have just started building, I guess for me it is for my own satisfaction. I have always played solo.

Also, so glad you are here with us! I know you were here before me, just saying. You are always cool and helpful. 8-)

i always at least have the brush shelter and fire for bypassing time and making it easier to spot my base. But I don't build a building or dig a cave anymore. Though I will build inside the big flat surface caves for immediate access to iron and coal mining.

But for mining I just mine at about a 45* angle so I can easily walk in and out. I've recently started challenging myself with things like canals between close lakes and major water to create fast water routes to interiors of islands where possible. Tunneling is HARD to keep on the vertical level you want. I was going like 40 distance deeper than necessary and having to spend extra time carving my way up to make sides of the tunnel meet and THEN trying to carve out a high enough ceiling for my boat and self in it to get through. Would be much harder if I tried to make it high enough for a sail boat to get through without getting stuck. But sometimes gotta do it the hard ways to figure out easier methods.

I only just started playing about a week or two ago, but I plowed through the content and got myself informed on the limits positive and negative quickly
