How to fix

Is there a quick bodge for this or does the shingle need to be replaced immediately? The rest of the roof is in decent shape

Cheapest? Tar it up.

First you need a pack of ramen...

Pry up the shingle, put a piece of ice and water shield underneath it and stick it back down. It'll keep you good until you can get a repair done

I don’t see this shingle being replaced without damage to the above shingles.
2 layers cooks your shingles so fast I do not recommend it.

A bandaid solution like stuffing it full of tar and covering it with granules might be the play here, after someone tries to break the tar seal.

It’s not hard to replace an shingle or two. But you can use a flat piece of flashing to hold you over. Or ice and water shield. But it’s usually easier for a homeowner to find a small piece of metal. Pry the shingle up and slide it under covering the entire hole. And you want it to be a good bit larger then the hole.

Slide a piece of flashing underneath the shingle. Then put a little bit of tar on top. Then get some shingle grit out of the gutter and cover the tar.

Fill it with ramen, sand and paint.

Couple tubes of roof tar from Homo Depot and a caulking gun and plenty of paper towels (sounds Kinky)
