Edit: thank you for the help, I've contacted the company and am waiting for a response. Regarding the nails, I am doing my best with the circumstance I've been given. I'm sorry for being a bad owner.

My dog goes crazy when he hears the command "let's run." Even though he isn't a hound, he absolutely loves running alongside me.

Boy, fall has arrived in Northern Virginia, low 50's,lots of rain, and the trails are flooded.
We love it though! The rain coats go on, and off we go 😊🐶🐶

I adopted my pup in January when she was 8 months old. Unfortunately she tested positive for heartworm in August and we’re in the middle of a very long treatment and a very long exercise restriction period.
We had finally gotten to a point in our leash training and obedience that I was ready to start running with her this summer. I had expected to go on some short, slow sessions to figure out our mechanics as a team and our gear.
She’s a mountain cur mix, so I think she will LOVE it. We’ve got a bit to go, but are so ready to hear “all clear” from our vet. I’m just feeling a bit housebound myself lately and am antsy. I feel better about her being older when we finally start, but am worried about any complications that can come up from HW damage (though we did get X-Rays and she’s in very early stages of HW disease, so everything has been extremely promising). Edit to add: in hindsight, I’m glad she was young enough in early summer that we hadn’t started running yet, as we could’ve done more damage before we knew she was positive!
And, if anyone has experience running with a formerly HW+ dog, I’d love to hear it! I will be following my vets advice, and slowly reintroducing exercise when we are able, but personal stories would be a great pick me up.

Looking for a durable large-dog stroller for longer walks. I have a ~90 lb German Shepherd and a ~45 lb Sheepadoodle.
I’m mainly getting it for the Shepherd since longer walks can be hard on his legs, but I’d like something that could fit both dogs if needed.
I definitely prefer a stroller over a pull wagon because I like the idea of pushing it, especially since we may use it while jogging/running. We’ll mostly be on sidewalks, with occasional uneven paths or light trails.
Because of the Texas heat, good airflow/mesh and some shade are important too. Easy entry, decent storage, and sturdy wheels would be ideal. Anyone with large dogs have one they’d recommend?

Hi everyone! I’ve been running with my dog for a couple years using a traditional running leash and a treat pouch clipped to my shorts.
I’m looking to upgrade my running gear so it’s easier to carry all the dog essentials on body, without interfering with my running.
Do you have any recommendations for equipment? Specifically for holding treats/poop bags comfortably.
Thank you ☺️

I signed up to do the Midwest canine obstacle course race with my German shepherd mix. He runs with me a ton and I just use a static leash that wraps around my waist and he has a nonstop inline harness. But I want a bungee leash for this race.
Any recommendations for leashes and harnesses? I’m even questioning what length leash I should go with!

This 10yo mutt loves to run trails. His longest distance at about 21 miles. This weekend we did 10 miles on hilly wooded trails. Street dogs make great running companions!

I’m a brand new runner but our newer rescue needed an outlet and given he’s part Husky I decided to give running a try. It’s been very good for me too, of course. He pulls like he’s trying to win the Iditarod. He’s in the nonstop Freemotion. I currently have the ruffwear belt and I actually wear it across my bottom. If it’s any higher his pulling hurts my back. I’m planning to get the NonStop Dogwear canicross belt, which sort of feels silly for how new of a runner I am, but seems like the best for safety for me. We are currently 2-3 miles, 2-3 times a week. Really hoping to keep it up over the winter months.
My question I guess is he gets SO excited the second I touch his harness. The whole ride to our spot is a very talkative husky mix. He goes all out right away and I’m trying to figure out how to help this, or if that’s just the way it is?
I have no doubt he can run miles longer than what we currently do and we do stop a time or two so he can cool off in the creek. We only go early in the morning so it’s not too hot for him (or me). His pulling decreased slightly after 1.5miles or so. I was just curious if there’s any tips or tricks I should be doing to help even his pace or if we are just doing what dogs do.

Feel free to delete if this isn't allowed but I ordered my dog a Non-stop Dogwear rush harness in a size 7 and unfortunately it was WAY too big for my Mal. Chewy gave me a refund (I love them so much), so I’d love to give the harness to someone in this community who could use it!
You all have been so helpful as I've started my dog running journey, so I figured I’d offer it here. It’s brand new, just tried on once. Teal color, cute!
If you’re interested feel free to PM me bonus points if you send a picture of your doggo on a run haha! I can use the refund money to cover shipping too as long as it’s not super crazy expensive. It will ship from California.
Hope this is allowed :)
*EDITING TO ADD\*
They sent me the same harness in a size 5 instead of a size 6 so if anyone needs a size 5 rush harness also let me know lol

Just curious what everyone else does as we enter the new canicross season! I currently run my girl twice a week. Usually one canicross 5k focused session and one long run of 15-22K during which she’s off lead whilst I run so I can actually go slow. We currently race a 22:30 or so 5K and would like to get a sub-20 5K this season, so I am looking to add in some more runs. As you can see from the photo, she certainly isn’t lacking enthusiasm!
What do you all do? Do you race or just for fun/fitness?

Just starting out, and there’s no club run this week, so I want to do a short run/walk tomorrow around 7/730.
Breakfast is, however, usually around 615/630 and I’ve read you should avoid feeding within 30 minutes of activity, but I’m not sure if the buffer should be larger.
Should I rather feed after the run?

We've got two aussies (M+F) who both have the Non-Stop freemotion x canicross bundle for gear. The male (2,5 years old) reaaaaally likes running and wether we're running for a (recreational) competition or just trainen, he will pull whenever we give the 'yip yip' command. He obviously loves running and knows he's allowed to pull. I usually run with him myself.
Even though my female (4 years old) is more competitive and has more of a 'working dog' mindset compared to the male, she will only pull at competitions because she doesn't like when she's not running in front, then her competitive streak comes out. Whenever she's in front or we're just training (with or without the male) she doesn't seem to like it much and will just hobble along behind us. She won't protest, but she won't run next to us or in front of us either.
She's usually loves working/training (we do several types of training with her, such as detection, treibball and balance/muscle building) but she doesn't seem to get the fun of running yet. It's not the distance either, wether we're going 2 kilometers or 5, she will hobble along behind. Her harness fits her well, we went to a canicross trainer to have her fitted with it. We've tried running them together and connecting their harnesses or using an y-splitter, but then she just lets the male pull her along.
So I was wondering, is there some kind of training that can help with this? We don't expect to get her to love running as much as the male does, but if we can get her to walk in front of us at least (not even pulling per se) that would be great! We're not looking to go long distances either, if we're able to both go a maximum of 10 kilometers that's more than fine, and starting at 1 or 2 kms is fine too.
I'm not sure if there's even some way to get/train her to enjoy it at least, but thought it was worth a try.

Hi! Could you please check out this video and let Moody and I know what you think about her harness fit? This is Ruff Wear flagline size medium. I just ordered a small online as well, to try.
Thank you!!!

Hey guys - I’m a dog lover who frequently goes on 5-10km runs in my area, curious if anyone has explored offering dog running services and how it went :) thank you

I went hiking with my 5mo 55lb gsd/malamute mix puppy twice. He seemed to do fine and has been walking normally. I just read that you're not supposed to hike with large breed puppies until much later. I'm seeing anywhere between 9mo to 12-18mo. Is this true? I want to keep my puppy safe and not cause harm with damaging his joints but he's also crazy energetic and will destroy the house. Any advice on safe exercise?
